Chapter 20: Recruitment
Ezra's POV
"Alright, who do we recruit then?" Ezra asked as they both sat down on a chair each in the corner of the small room.
"Well I'm sure once we explain to the others what we've found out they'll be more than ready to help." Kanan exclaimed. They both knew that others meant the rest of the Ghost crew.
"Why don't we alert Senator Organa of it. If he knows, then we will have the whole rebellion on our side." Ezra said sounding excited.
"No, Senator Organa won't believe it till he sees it, we'll have to actually bring Ahsoka to him if we want his approval." Kanan said. "What about that pilot Ahsoka went off with?"
"You mean Lux" Ezra said
"Yeah, Lux. When the Imperial's have left, I'm gonna have a little chat with him" Kanan smirked.
Thrawn's POV
Before him and Mas had parted ways, the Emperor's adviser had handed him a data-pad with everything that was going to happen in his absence. While he walked down to the castle he took a look at it to see that the fleet above Takodana would be leaving any minute now and there was a code on it in case he needed to contact the Empire at any time.
What the data-pad didn't say, but was pretty obvious, is that two of the Royal Guards would be keeping a watch on him while he went undercover. He didn't know where they were right now but before Mas Amedda's ship had taken off, he saw two red bodies dive into the forest.
Zeb's POV
"Sabine, we've been here for 20 minutes, maybe he got busted" Zeb said in his gruff voice as the two sat in a booth at Maz's Castle.
"Hera said give him an hour, we've still got 40 minutes!" she snapped back
"Well the waits over, I'm right here" a voice piped up from behind them and they both spun around to face a blue chiss wearing a white uniform with a few blood stains smothered on it. "And before you ask, no I don't have Vader's body with me, I wouldn't be here if I'd tried to get it on the ship with me." He spoke, his accent quite heavy.
"Well then, I guess we can get going now" Sabine said as she stood up and started to make her way to the exit with Thrawn. Zeb was about to follow them when he thought he spotted something over in the corner. Sure, it probably wasn't anything but he had to be sure.
"Hey Sabine, I'll meet you back at the base I just wanna check something out" he said as he headed off to investigate. He made his way through the crowd of drunk pirates of various species and passed the occasional locals that made up the population of Takodana. He headed down a dark stairway that led him into a slightly illuminated corridor and what he saw startled him.
He spotted a pair of Royal Imperial Guard's and before he had to time to even draw his weapon, he was knocked unconscious on the head.
Hera's POV
Hera's heart had been racing the entire time during the lockdown but now that the Star Destroyer had left, a sigh of relief escaped her mouth and she turned the power back on in the base while Commander Sato made the announcement over the comm that the Empire had left and everything was to proceed as normal.
As she was making her way to the hanger to wait for Sabine, Zeb and their so-called new ally, her comm buzzed and she was glad when Sabine's voice came through.
"Hera it's Sabine, I'm on my way and shouldn't be too long now. Zeb stayed back because he wanted to check something out but I imagine he'll be back shortly after me. Just though I'd let you know." She said.
"All right Sabine, see you soon" she replied.
Lux's POV
Lux sat in the pilots seat of the small ship that was docked in one of the Mandalorian hangers and waited for Ahsoka and Rex to return. She had said that they may be a while but that they may also need a quick escape. Because of his rank in the Rebellion, he had the clearance to know what was going on here and he was surprised to learn that they were helping out the rebel cell led by Bo Katan. Both him and Ahsoka had try to escape Bo and Pre Vizsla after he struck a deal with them but apparently Ahsoka and Bo had some history together.
Lux's was reading through his holomail and read that the base back on Takodana had been in lockdown and that they had just recruited Grand Admiral Thrawn. Reading this almost made Lux spit out his caf. Geez, I'll have to follow up on that when we get back he thought when his comm started buzzing. He answered it to hear the sound of Kanan Jarrus' voice.
"Lux, I hope this isn't a bad time" Kanan asked, his bright blue and transparent image shaking a little due to the distance between them.
"No not really but if I drop out really suddenly, it's because I've got a pickup to make" Lux replied. He referred to Ahsoka and Rex as pickup because he wasn't sure how much Kanan knew or was supposed to know.
"Well I just wanted to see if you were interested in joining a little...team shall we call it" Kanan said, sounding a little hesitant.
"I'm not sure I follow" Lux said standing up and leaning over the hologram.
"Well me and my apprentice, Ezra Bridger, have made a shocking realisation that Ahsoka Tano is working for the Empire and more directly, Darth Vader. I know it does come as quite a shock but if you put two and two together like we did and see that we've lost 2 bases, almost a third, only within the past few days and that she won't reveal anything about what happened after everyone thought she was dead, then you'll realise what we have." Kanan spoke, sounding like he had rehearsed his little speech.
"Well...um...that doesn't prove anything!" Lux said knowing that there was a good chance the Jedi was right.
"That's why I'm forming a team to help get to the bottom of this" Kanan replied.
Theres no way Ahsoka would be working for The Empire but I mean Kanan does make some pretty good points. But still! Oh force I don't know!
"Let me finish up here and I'll join your little team" Lux said, a little disheartened.
