Chapter 15: Trouble on Coruscant

Emperor Palpatine's POV

The dark Lord of the Sith and self appointed Emperor of the Galaxy sat in on his throne in his office in the Imperial Palace that overlooked the busy planet of Coruscant. He had felt the disturbance in the force when Vader had perished but he hadn't been surprised, in fact he was surprised Thrawn hadn't carried the execution out earlier.

His thoughts were interrupted when Mas Amedda entered the room, although Palpatine's chair was facing the window, he knew the advisor had bowed and proceeded to his desk. Mas Amedda was one of the few people in the Galaxy who didn't fear him and in a way, Palpatine admired that about him.

"You summoned me my Lord?" The blue horned Chagrain asked. Palpatine slowly spun his chair around to face the Royal adviser and lifted his head up so that Mas was staring right in to his deformed face.
"I am sending you on a mission, a very important mission at that" he spoke, his old age expressed in his voice that had become soft and shaky. "You are to go to Takodana, there you will meet Grand Admirial Thrawn at a rendezvous that I have sent to your ship, and collect Lord Vader and bring him back to me."
"Yes my Lord" Mas complied without question.

Hera's POV

"So will you get off this ship or not?" Thrawn asked. Hera had been summoned along with Sato and a few other commanders she didn't recognise to hear what the Grand Admiral of the Empire had to say.
"We can't!" Hera said, a little quicker than she would have liked, hopefully that didn't seem to rude.
"Captain Syndulla he just eliminated Darth Vader, the man whose been terrorising us and the Galaxy, in one swift move. If anything we need a man like him." Sato exclaimed, clearly wanting to rescue Thrawn.

"I don't argue that, what I do argue is how a Grand Admiral of the Empire just suddenly decides to defect. I mean cadets are one thing but like I said, the mans a GRAND ADMIRAL" Hera argued, hoping some of the others in the room would see her point of view.
"I agree with Commander Sato, if Thrawn didn't want to defect he wouldn't have killed Vader. I think murdering the Emperor's second in command falls under the category of defecting." One of the senior officers said.

"Alright then just say he really does want to defect, we can't rescue him from the Star Destroyer without exposing out base. I mean we've already put the base in lockdown and even contacting him now puts us at risk of the Empire discovering our location" Hera said, desperate for someone to agree that they shouldn't be so trusting of a high ranking Imperial straight away.

Rex's POV

"AHSOKA" Rex screamed as he watched her fall of the ship's landing ramp and descend towards the Jedi Temple which had once been her home for so many years.
"Lux, jet pack NOW" Rex demanded.
"Wait why and where's Ah..." Lux started but was interrupted by the now panicked clone.
"LUX" Rex screamed again, his clone leadership kicking in. Lux finally threw him the Jet Pack and before he could even fully attach it, the clone jumped off the ship trying to catch up to his friend.

Rex finally got the jet pack attached and cranked it up to full boost as he had quite some distance to catch up to Ahsoka before she hit the Coruscant ground which would surely result in her death. The wind was splashing in to his face as he descended further and further but he didn't care as saving Ahsoka outweighed that small inconvenience. As he came within arms length of the Torguta, he grabbed Ahsoka and pulled her into his arms and signed a sigh of relief only to see how close they were to crashing into the ground.

Rex pulled up on his jet pack and tried to find Lux's ship but couldn't spot it. The only option he saw as a good landing spot was the tallest spire of the Jedi Temple. As they got closer and closer, Rex covered her face and lowered his head to avoid any glass in either of them.

They crashed through the smoke stained window into what Rex realised was the Jedi Council room. The only thing that stopped them from flying out the other end was the old council chairs that circled around the centre of the room. As all motion stopped, Rex sighed once again and rested his head on the floor.
