Chapter 16: Memory's of the Past
Kanan's POV
Kanan quickly lashed out his lightsaber and ignited it after feeling the disturbance in the force but due to his sudden actions, Ezra jumped back and ignited his own green lightsaber and pointed it at Kanan. The two looked at each other and slowly their eyes widen as they realised what happened.
"The force, it...its shifted" Ezra stuttered as he lowered his defence and put away his newly constructed lightsaber.
"I don't know what happened but...but whatever it is, it's big" Kanan mumbled, still feeling the darkness of the Sith Holocron absorbing into him. Whenever he had opened the Holocron, Ezra had never been in the same room and therefore Kanan wasn't worried about his apprentice discovering it but now that Ezra was only a few meters away, disaster was bound to happen.
The older Jedi deactivated his sky blue lightsaber and rested it on his desk as he reached out into the force hoping to close the connection Ezra could feel with the Holocron. This earned him a glare from Ezra who clearly felt Kanan's interference.
"What are you doing?" Ezra asked, eyes shifting all over the room, clearly hoping to spot whatever he was connecting with.
"Nothing, don't worry! Why don't you go ask Hera what's up and then we will work out what the disturbance in the force was" Kanan said a little to quickly to actually sound genuine.
"Ahhh, we're in lockdown...remember?" the seventeen year old asked, an eyebrow raised.
Suddenly, Ezra gasped as he saw the glowing, illuminating light of red coming from the direction of the Holocron and dived for it, grabbing it before Kanan had time to react.
Ahsoka's POV
Ahsoka woke up to the sound of high little squeaks that she soon realised were buttons being pressed from the other side of the room. Wait! Where am I? She thought as she quickly got to her feet and stared at her surroundings. What she saw started her as she saw the once familiar chairs if the Jedi Council. Memories came flooding back to her as she remembered the day when the council along with Anakin had invited her back to the Order but she had to refused, feeling betrayed and unsure of herself.
"You alright?" Rex asked from the other end of the room where he was working on the elevators control panel that had clearly been fried long before. Now she remembered what happened, she and Rex had come to Coruscant on Lux's ship and they were about to jump down onto the temple's roof when suddenly she felt a disturbance in the force and had fainted causing her to fall off the ship.
"No not really" she said rubbing her head to the rising headache she was starting to get. She wasn't about to tell Rex what she had felt earlier in fear that she was wrong, in hopes that she was wrong.
"I won't ask questions coz I know you'll tell me when you're ready but I just fixed the lift so we are all set to get down there and explore." Rex said as he pressed a button to open the doors to the lift.
Ahsoka looked around the room, I remember hoping to be on the council one day she thought smiling to herself. Once again, memories filled her head but this time, they weren't of ones she experienced. They were of a tall cloaked figure, his presence cold and frightening as he entered the council chambers and looked at the younglings. "Master Skywalker, there's too many of them, what are we going to do?" One of the young boys asked. Anakin she thought as she saw her former master whip out his lightsaber and slaughter the children in front of him.
Ahsoka gasped in pain and tears and fell to the ground sobbing as the memory kept on playing in her head, the screams of the poor innocent children. Rex ran straight to her side to comfort her. After a few minutes of them sitting there like that, Ahsoka looked at Rex,
"I've got all the evidence we need of Anakin's turn, but now we're taking the fight straight to the Emperor himself."
Barriss' POV
Barriss was shell shocked as she watched the green mist form into the Nightsister and former Sith that was Asajj Ventress. She wasn't sure what Ventress was going to do to her but she was pretty sure it would be revenge for her hitting her all those years ago in the Coruscant Underworld.
"I sense you are conflicted about working for the Sith" Ventress' heavy voice spoke. Barriss watched as Ventress stepped out of the mist to show that she was wearing the same clothes that she had worn when Barriss had hit her and stole her lightsabers. "Trust me, they will betray you as they did to me, it's only a matter of time before they kill you. In fact I bet once your done your current mission, they will strike you down where you stand." Ventress exclaimed, the look of renewal spread across her face.
Come to think of it, Sidious and Vader had been using her less and less. The only time they had used her in the past few months was to eliminate underworld criminal Lords who had control of something the Empire wanted and that was child's play.
"Join me Barriss Offee and together we can destroy the Sith and have our revenge" Ventress spoke as she circled around Barriss to look at the destruction that was once her home and her sisters. Barriss looked at the bold Nightsister witch and considered the offer to kill the people who restrained her from her true potential. "Deal"
