Chapter 2: Victory
THREE MONTHS AFTER MALACHOR...
Kanan's POV
"We've done it!" Ezra yelled for joy through the com system
"Now we have to get clear, Commander Sato, are your forces ready to jump to hyperspace" Hera asked
"They sure are, Captain Syndulla" Sato replied through the com
"Alright let's go" Kanan said to the rest of the ghost crew. Kanan still couldn't believe what they had just accomplished, they had blown up a Star Destroyer! This has taken two months of planning, gathering forces and training and boy had it been a massive risk, probably the biggest risk the rebellion had taken and thank the force it had payed off. Ezra, Zeb and Sabine joined the rest of their friends on the bridge of The Ghost and started cheering. "I still can't believe we pulled it off, I mean I knew we could do it but it's just the fact that we actually did it and saw the thing collapse" Sabine said, her voice a mix of shock and happiness. "Wait, where's Rex?" Ezra asked, they all looked around until Kanan said he'd go find him. He knew exactly where Rex would be.
"Rex, can I come in?" Kanan asked
"Yeah" was the inky respond he got.
Kanan walked into what used to be Ahsoka's room to see Rex laying on the bed looking up at the ceiling that was covered in paintings by Sabine. Kanan knew Rex wasn't always like this, he just had his bad days and good days and today was one of those bad days. "We did it, we destroyed a Star Destroyer. No pun intended by the way" Kanan said trying to lighten the mood. Rex sat up while having a small laugh. "You know me, Ahsoka and Anakin used to do this all the time to old Separatist war ships" Rex said as Kanan came to sit next to him, "those were the days" Rex said looking miserable, "Now they're both gone."
Thrawn's POV
"Admirial! We just lost The Exterminator!" One of the officers in the work bays hailed in panic as they read the data from the screen. "What type of ship was it?" Thrawn demanded, completely ignoring the information he had just been told. "The main one was a modified VCX-100 light freighter, sir" a different officer responded, "how much fuel could it hold?" Thrawn demanded again, within 30 seconds he got a response, "approximately 500,000 gallons of fuel, sir." Thrawn looked over his shoulder at Vader who simply stood there staring at him. "And what type of ammunition does it carry?" Thrawn asked still informing the fact that they had lost a Star Destroyer, "Sir, its main fire source was Taim & Bak MS-2B twin laser cannon" a new officer responded. "Sir, would you like us to see how much that particular ship hit us and subtract the fuel from that to find out where they're headed?" the deck officer inquired, "Precisely" Thrawn smiled and tuned to Vader. "Isn't it amazing what a little thinking can do" Vader just simply walked away.
Rex's POV
"I'm sorry we couldn't save Ahsoka" Kanan said putting his hand on Rex's shoulder, "Can I ask what happened?" Rex looked up at Kanan. The young Jedi explained the events that had taken place on Malachor and went into detail about when Ahsoka got trapped. "Wait, you left her there" Red stood up clearly out raged, "Rex, we tried, the walls closed and there was no other way" Kanan said trying not to fire back knowing full well that Rex was just upset. "There's always a way, especially for a Jedi but I guess you're not a true Jedi if you only saved yourself." Rex stormed out of the room and Kanan just sighed.
It's been a big 3 months for Rex without Ahsoka and Thrawn is already on to the rebels. So I need to ask you a question, would you like me to do a part where Rex finds out who Vader really is and confronts him? Let me know and cya next chapter.
