Dog Town

"Lena!"
"Yes, Lord Phantomhive?"
"I'm sorry."
"Thank you." I said quietly. "But I know you don't mean it. No one does." I had a sad smile my face.
"Oh and how are you feeling?"
"Better. I lost a lot of blood and was chilled to the bone but I'm still living." I said no emotion in my voice. "Now if you will excuse me." I said walking toward the shop.

"Lena please?" Will asked.
"This is Grell's fault your here." I said.
"Please."
"Fine." I said.
He handed me my list and spectacles. "You should be done in less than a week."
"Sure that's what you always say." I said sitting on a white coffin. "Father!" I called.
"Yes!" he said popping out of nowhere.
"I'll be gone for at least a week." I said.
"Okay dear." he replied.

I was walking into the town of Houndsworth when I saw an old women struggling with a baby carriage. "Here let me help you miss." I said putting my small bag down. Once I got the carriage out I saw there was a skull. "There's no baby?" I mumbled.
"There is no baby. There is no baby anymore, the child was eaten by 'it'." The old women said. Then she started walking away chanting. "The white dog is a good dog a good dog good. The black dog is a bad dog the black dog bad. He'll your flesh down to the bone. Down to the bone." Then she disappeared into the mist.
"Creepy." I muttered.
Just then a carriage stopped beside me. "Can I offer you a ride?" a voice I would know from anywhere.
"Why isn't it Lord Phantomhive." I said
"You look better."
"Yes."
"Lena, may I offer you a ride?"
"If you insist." I said. "Which carriage would you want me in?"
"Mine. I will not put you with those idiots." He said.
I carefully got into Ciel's carriage. "Hello Sebastian." I said with no emotion.
"Hello Miss Lena." Sebastian said in the same tone.
"What would you of all people be doing in a town like this?" I asked Ciel.
"Business. But I should ask you the same question." Ciel replied.
"Work." I simply stated.
"I see." he said.
We entered the village and I saw a man training a dog. "Sit." he commanded and the dog sat. "Lie down." The dog did it. "Who's a good boy! My good boy!"
I stared at the dog. It was such a beautiful dog. Sebastian ruined the moment by saying, "He manipulates the creature with rewards and punishments. He commands the mutt's obedience. But the dog isn't blameless either. It fawns over it's human, and welcomes the chain around it's neck. I can't understand it."
"If you're trying to get into something deeper, just say it."
"I believe he's saying he's not fond of dogs. Am I correct?" I said.
"Yes, you're correct. It's simply I like cats but I'm not especially fond of dogs." Sebastian replied. "To be completely frank I hate them."
"Woof." Ciel replied. I let a small smile form on my lips.

We pulled in front of Barrymore Castle when a maid came out. "I presume this is the Earl Phantomhive?" She asked.
"Yes." Sebastian said.
"Welcome to Barrymore Castle. My master awaits your arrival." She said looking Sebastian in the eyes then me.
'There's something about her. But what?' I thought.
She lead Ciel, Sebastian, and I to a room. "This way." She said softly.
The room was covered with animal heads. Then I heard the sound of a whip crack. I turned just in time to see the whip go down. "Who the devil is this chihuahua?" Lord Barrymore said bringing the whip down once more. "I told you to bring me the Queens guard dog when he got here. Can't you do anything right, Angela?"
I moved in front of her and put up my arms over my head. I felt the whip hit my wrist and let a small whimper escape my lips. "Stop it." I said.
"You insolent mutt." Barrymore said bringing it down once more. Then again. Then again. I refused to let my pain show.
I heard Ciel say. "Sebastian move."
I was expecting to get hit again but instead I heard."What are you doing you filthy Doberman? Someone should train you better." Barrymore shouted. I looked up to see Sebastian holding on to Barrymore's wrist. "Let me go right now!"
"He's acting on my orders." Ciel said.
I zoned out as I stood up and helped Angela up. "Are you alright miss." I said.
"Yes. Thank you." she replied.
"Your quite welcome. If you need anymore help just ask." I said.

I was looking at the purple bruises that now covered my arms. They hurt like crazy but I didn't show it. Angela on the other hand did. She was trying to pick up a tea cup but her hands were shaking so Sebastian took control. Lord Henry slammed papers down on the table. "There is nothing to discuss. Under no circumstances will I sell Barrymore castle to anyone."
"Why is that?" Ciel asked.
"Because of the curse."
"Oh, what curse?"
"This village and it's dogs have existed for centuries. Anyone who interferes with us will be cursed. In the most horrible way. Even the queen can not lift the curse." I zoned out after that.

I was in the bedroom Lord Barrymore gave me. I was getting ready to go for one of the two I was sent here to reap. "Mr. James." I said reading the name of the list.
There was a knock on my door. "Miss Lena?" A voice said.
"Come in Sebastian." I said simply.
The door opened to revel not only Sebastian but Ciel as well. "Going somewhere?" Ciel asked.
"I'm going to do my job." I said.
"So someone's going to die tonight?" I nodded. "I wanted to see if you were alright." He said.
"If your referring to my arms, they're fine." I said. Honestly my arms hurt like crazy but I wasn't going to tell them that.
"What made you step in front of her?" Sebastian asked.
"I don't know." I replied rubbing my arms. "Now I must go. Sweet dreams Ciel, I'll see you in the morning." I saw the shocked expression on his face before jumping out the window and ran to my reaping area. I was just in time to see the murderer leave.
"Someone help." I heard a voice say.
"I'm here to help." I said softly.
"Your the outsider." he said.
"Not true I was born here." I lied. "My mother was scared I'd get eaten so she left."
"Your really going to help me?"
"Yes sir."
"Okay. Thank you." Then I slashed him a little bit in the chest. You could barely see the cut.
I did my work and ran from the site before anyone came. I jumped to my window and surprisingly it was open. 'Ciel.' I thought.
"Welcome back." a voice said.
I turned to see Ciel in a chair. "Shouldn't you be in bed right now young Lord?" I said.
"You were so fast. I thought it would have taken longer." he replied.
"He was already dying all I had to do was help him through the pain."
"You look like it pains you to watch them die."
"I'm a reaper it's what we do. So I don't care anymore."
"Goodnight Lena." Ciel said.
"Like I said earlier sweet dreams Lord Phantomhive." Then he walked out.
I changed into my grey ankle length nightgown and put my hair into two braids. I lied down on the bed and feel asleep.

I woke up to a howl and instant stood up and ran to my window. I saw something glowing out in the distance. I ran out of my room and saw Finny, Bard,Tanaka, and Mey-rin. "Miss Lena!" Finny said.
"Are you okay?" Mey-rin asked.
"I'm fine. Come on." I said running outside. I saw Ciel kneeling on the ground placing his fingers in some dust.
"Master." the servants said.
"What happened?" I asked.
"The demon hound has appeared." Angela said.
"Demon hound?" the servants asked.
I looked at Sebastian only to see he's doing the same at me. I shook my head a little so Sebastian saw. "It brings great catastrophe to the village. Anyone who defy my master will be punished by the demon hound. That's the law here. There's no way to stop it."
"Angela, please tell Lord Barrymore that the demon hound has come." A villager said.
"Who was the punished one?" she asked. Ciel looked at me for the first time since I ran outside. He smirked at me when I pushed my braids behind my shoulders.

We were all at the sight where James's body was. "How awful." Bard said hugging his pillow.
Ciel picked up James arm. "So that's it then."
"Stand back don't touch." I heard Barrymore say. "I see it was James than. He was the bad dog."
A villager replied with. "Yes, he broke the legal restrictions dog ownership. He had six dogs one more than allowed."
"A sixth dog. Then this was inevitable."
"That's all you can say?" Bard and I said in unison.
"This village under my rule and no other. The demon hound protects that rule and punishes those who break those laws."
Then the whole crowd started chanting the chant the old women said when I first came to the village. They all started walking away. "I was sure you outsiders would be it's next prey. You barely escaped."
Once they were gone I let a small growl escape my mouth. "What now Lord Phantomhive?" I asked.

I was with the servants. We were all rather glum. "This has got to be the worst holiday ever." Bard said.
"The worst. Yes it is."
"This was the time I got away from my father to visit my grandparents. Only to find out they died." I said. That was what Lord Phantomhive told me to say if anyone asked why I was here. "But Lord Phantomhive said I could drive home with you all." I said
"Why so glum. You were so excited on the drive here." Sebastian said from behind.
"Yeah, well that was before." Bard said.
"Have you forgotten? We came to a resort. Don't be so gloomy we're on holiday. It's a time for relaxing." he held up a basket and a swimsuit. That made them happy.

Bard and Finny were already in the water while I was waiting for Mey-rin to finish getting ready. I was wearing a white and green swimsuit.(Yes I wear colors other than black, grey, and white. And her swimsuit looks like Mey-rin's with a longer top that covers her butt,) and my hair was in a high ponytail. I got pulled into the changing area. "I can't go out there." Mey-rin said.
"Mey-rin you look lovely why can't you go out." I said.
"It's too embarrassing."
"Come on Mey-rin." I said grabbing her hand.
"No it's too embarrassing."
"Please."
"Hey Mey-rin, Lena what's taking you so long?" Bard said.
"Mey-rin is embarrassed." I said.
"Oh come on now we don't get to do this every day!" Bard said.
I walked out "Oh wow Lena you look beautiful." Finny said.
"Thank you." I said. I saw Angela on the shore and waved. She waved back. There was still something about her I can't put my finger on just yet.
Mey-rin finally came out. "This is so embarrassing!" she exclaimed.
"Don't worry Mey-rin you look lovely." Finny said.
"You would look even better without your glasses on." Bard said reaching for her glasses.
"No the master gave 'em to me!" She exclaimed. She splashed water at us.
Soon we were all running around, laughing, and having fun. "I haven't done this in about four years." I shouted to no one in particular. Next thing I know I'm getting splashed in three different directions. "Hey!"
I splashed Bard then used Finny as a shield. "Hey!" Finny yelled.
"Thanks for the protection Finny." I said.
He blushed. "S-sure thing."
I looked at the shore to see Ciel smirking at me.

We were eating on the shore when I got a bad feeling. I looked at Ciel and got up. I didn't see Sebastian so I walked to him. "Lord Phantomhive."
"What is it Lena?"
"I have a feeling something bad is going to happen."
"Like what?"
"I don't know yet. "
"Tell me something."
"Okay?"
"Why do your eyes change color."
"When I have a bad feeling or when I get strong emotions or when I use my true power it happens." I explained.
He nodded then I heard yelling. "We got him! The bad dog! We got James's dog! The punishment's about to begin!"
"That's it." I mumbled.

We were all standing in the crowd. The dog I first saw with James was now chained to a wall. Someone in the crowd yelled. "He's got something in his mouth. Get it from 'im."
A man hit the dog with a stick and said. "Bad dog let go. Give it to me. Let go! Let go." I gripped the person next to me, which happen to be Bard, and buried my head into his shirt. He wrapped his arms around me.
"What a bad dog. It deserves punishment. Begin!" Barrymore said. The dogs were released on the chained one.
Next thing I know Finny yells. "Just let the poor thing go!" He ran and pulled a stake out of the ground. Which surprised me. "Stop it!" he said hitting the other dogs off the other. The old women I helped the first day I got here screamed an fainted.
"Finny!" we all yelled running up to him.
I heard many people mumbling. "They interfered."
"They interrupted. Punish them!"
"They're bad dogs!" and stuff like that.
Ciel and I were chained to the wall with chains around our necks, arms, and legs. I knew this was the bad thing I felt was going to happen. Bard, Finny, Tanaka and Mey-rin were tied to a pole with gags on their mouths."Not so powerful now, are you?" Barrymore asked.
"Master, I beg you, show mercy this one time these people don't deserve the punishment." Angela begged.
"You have a point, this little Pomeranian is the Queen's guard dog after all. If he can be made to see reason perhaps I'll decide to let them go. Leave this village immediately and advise the queen to never send her minions here again." Barrymore said.
"You're pathetic. You thrive on lonely tricks to claim your power." Ciel said
"If there's a stubborn dog here I'd say I'm looking at it." I said.
"If that's your choice, you'll learn what happens to a dog who challenges me." Barrymore said. He pointed to us. "Get them."
The dogs were released but never came all the way. Sebastian was in front of us. "You cut that close." Ciel said to him.
"It won't happen again, trust me." Sebastian replied.
"How dare you interfere dog!" Barrymore yelled. "Well what are you mutts waiting for? Kill all three of them now!"
"Shameful, what course noisy growls they have. One of the reasons I despise these creatures." Sebastian said. He gave me a glance and I knew what to do. I let the neon yellow/green eyes show for a second and Sebastian let his crimson eyes change into its pinkish demon eyes for the same amount of time and the dogs lied(right tense?)down on their stomachs.
"Wh-what the.... what happened. What did you do?"
"You're pitiful farce ends here Barrymore." Ciel started. "Listen there is no demon hound. It's all a lie. There's just a pathetic old man obsessed with power determined to keep it no matter what happens!"
"What, what evidence do you have."
"For one, I know for a fact that the teeth marks left on poor James were fake. My father is an undertaker and I've seen many different deaths by animals. If it really was a demon hound, or even a regular dog it would've been deeper than they were." I said.
"There's also this." Sebastian said pulling a skull he threw at one of the dogs to stop it, out of the dogs mouth. "We found it in your mansion. I've already taken the liberty to confirm the marks on James match the teeth in this skull. You see it now." Sebastian pointed to the sky to showed a shadow of a dog. "The truth behind the demon hound. Shadow is just a projection. A transparent trick. The going is phosphorescent dust really sprinkled on a normal dog."
"The demon hound is merely an illusion a story and up by an evil man." I said.
"The man you let rule your village, Henry Barrymore." Ciel said.
"No it's all nonsense. You can't fool them. Where's your evidence?" Barrymore asked.
Ciel smirked. Sebastian walked to the dog chained to the wall. "You can rest. Your duty is done. I'll take it from here." The dogs eyes closed and tears threatened to fall from my eyes. "What a fine material. I wonder why the dog was so eager to hold onto it until the last second. Interesting behavior don't you think?"
"Wh-what the...." Barrymore said.
"Yours. a scrap of cloth from your pants torn off from James's dog when you attacked his master. You recognize it, yes?" Sebastian said. Barrymore started to sweat. Everyone was turning on him.
"Give up Barrymore. It's all over now." Ciel said.
The crowd picked him up and chanted 'Punish James killer.' As they walked away.
Bard helped me out of the chains. I rubbed my neck. "Thank you Bard." I said.
"No problem."
"My goodness I'm glad that's over yes I am." Mey-rin said.
I saw Finny walk over to the dog. He knelt down and said. "You're one amazing pup. A loyal dog defending his master to the very end." He hugged the dog. "You were a good boy. Such a good boy." Finny started to cry.
I walked over to Finny and knelt next to him. I kissed the dogs head and my eyes once again turned neon yellow/green. 'You will be reincarnated into a better life. You didn't have a bad life.' I said in my head. This is what I can do. I can reincarnate lives but Will forbids it with humans. This is a skill only I can do.
"He'll be okay Finny." I said softly. I felt tears fall from my eyes. "He'll be okay."
"There you go, another reason why I hate dogs." Sebastian said. I shot him a look. My eyes turned back into their emerald green color
It started raining. I helped Finny off the ground and kissed his cheek. I saw a faint blush spread to his cheek. He pulled me into soft hug and cried into my hair.

I was getting ready to finish up my job. It was time. I ran out into the rain to find Henry Barrymore leaning on the wall with the chains. Dying. I did my job. I collected his record and saw everything he did. Everyone he killed. Then went back to the manor.

I ran down the stairs when I heard Mey-Rin scream. "What's going on?" Bard said.
I saw her on the floor. "Mey-rin are you okay?" I asked. She stuttered and pointed at the cell Barrymore was in. the walls and floor covered in blood. His blood.

Okay guys I'm soooooo sorry I didn't update last week I was at my dads and his girlfriend had her granddaughters over so I partied with them and before I knew it was Monday and I've been super busy. So again I'm terribly sorry. I also appreciate the 29 votes and 218reads. I know this chapter might suck because I wrote it like really fast to get it posted for you. I also might try to post another chapter to make it up to you. So here you go.
