Episode 11

The sounds of hushed, sparring voices is what brought you back to consciousness. You groggily opened your eyes to see a stormtrooper escorting Poe from the room. Poe had a confident look on his face but you could sense how anxious he felt.

"What's happening?" The mask almost completely hid the panic in your voice, for which you were thankful.  You couldn't let Poe be executed or tortured. You wouldn't let Kylo hurt anyone else if you could help them. You tried to get up, forgetting that you were tied down. The restraints began to cut into your wrists because you were pulling too hard.

"Kylo Ren wants you alone while you're being interrogated." The Stormtrooper replied. You could hear nervousness in his voice. He was hiding something.

"Don't worry, you'll be fine (Y/n)." Poe mouthed his words to not draw the attention of the Stormtrooper.

As they were about to leave the room, you forced your way into the mind of the Stormtrooper. If they were going to hurt Poe, you wouldn't let them. This Resistance member, even though you'd barely talked to him, had a kind soul and a heart of gold. You could tell.

In the mind of the Stormtrooper, much to your shock, you saw strength, rebellion, a warm heart, and a plan to escape.

Weakened slightly, you pulled yourself from his mind. You made a mental note that if you ever got out of this place you had to start practicing using the force again. You never used to get tired this quickly.

The stormtrooper was breathing heavier. You could feel his worry that Kylo Ren would find what you'd seen.

"What... What just happened?" Poe asked cautiously.

"Nothing. Good luck, FN-2187, and don't worry. I won't give you away." You said to the Stormtrooper.

He nodded and hurriedly pulled Poe out of the room.

You leaned back once more and waited. Alone, there was no one to talk to. No one to distract you from the fear in your mind. You tried to meditate and calm yourself, but you had never fully mastered the art of it. You could've, if Ben had- no. You couldn't think about that. Weakness wasn't optional at the moment, unless you wanted to be found out. You needed a plan, and more rest, now that you'd exhausted yourself by forcing your way into the mind of FN-2187.

You decided to get sleep first, so that you could be alert and focused while coming up with a plan.

You fell asleep within a few minutes.

You opened your eyes, not seeing anyone in the room with you. You silently rejoiced and began coming up with a plan. If you were focused enough, you might be able to hide your true memories and place fake ones where Kylo would find them. You could-

Before you could even finish your thought, a voice cut through the darkness, sending shivers down your back.

"Finally awake. I hope that the Pilot didn't cause you any trouble... or give you any ideas."

The dark figure of Kylo Ren emerged from the shadows behind you, causing you to instantly begin building up a mental barrier. There was no time to waste being scared.

"I assure you, the Pilot didn't cause any trouble. If anyone did, it was you, for taking me away from the General whom I am sworn to," You said confidently.

"If and when I determine you are trustworthy, I promise that you will be returned to that weasel."

You knew what you must do to make your story believable, even if the words you had to say made you feel sick.

"How dare you call someone like my master a weasel. You have no right to insult such an honorable and righteous man." The skin around your wrists burned as you pulled against your restraints, feigning fury. You stared him down, not blinking. You needed to act as Hux's loyal servant, so you couldn't let your façade falter.

A mechanical laugh rang through the room.

"Your loyalty is moving, but I believe that it's time for us to begin." Kylo held his hand over your head and instantly you felt him breaking down the fortress around your mind.

Quickly shoving some fake memories to the front of your mind, you groaned in agony. He'd never been this harsh as Ben. The pain was like nothing you'd ever experienced.

Kylo pushed past the decoy thoughts, focusing on breaking into the stronghold of emotions that you'd been refusing to feel for the last ten years. He had never been this forceful or powerful when he had trained you, but you had to remember that he wasn't the same person anymore.

You bean yelling out in anguish, almost completely exhausted. You could feel that Kylo wasn't being weakened by your attempts to stop him, even though you were working as hard as you could to keep him out. You were only putting pebbles in the path of a raging river; there was no stopping this.

The dam broke. You felt Kylo getting ready to read your memories, but you blacked out.

*Kylo's P.O.V. (Third Person Limited)*

He picked through this servant's memories, not paying attention. He was heading to the core of her mind, and her lack of consciousness only made this easier for him. He felt his hand accidentally touch the girl's forehead and didn't bother to move it. He was about to find out exactly who she was when he felt himself get forcefully tugged into some thought of hers. Frantically, he tried to pull himself out, but he couldn't control anything. His consciousness was spinning, and he couldn't help but be annoyed by this setback.

Suddenly, the reeling halted. He opened his eyes to find that his entire consciousness had been pulled into the girl's mind. He stood in a dense forest, disoriented and frustrated. The place was familiar to him, but he'd seen many forests, and he couldn't place where one this was. Looking down, he stepped back and yelled out. He wore padawan robes. He felt his face to find no mask, so he ran his hand through his hair, irritated. He felt a small braid, which only made everything worse.

What the hell is going on?

That's when she came out from behind a tree.

She stared fiercely, but with a shy silentness about her. While she said nothing, her thoughts shouted with the rage of a hurricane. She silently screamed into the oblivion of her own mind, a serene manic to her pristine panic. Behind her harmonious smile, she was an explosion of feelings with turbulent, violent winds instead of joy.

(Y/n). Why was this happening? How was she here? He had only ever felt this mentally in tune with her, and he had forgotten how good it felt.

Her wild grin slowly fell as she saw the frustration on his face.

"Ben?"

He broke when she said the name. Tremors ran through the emotionless persona he'd been building for years. Emotions ensnared his sanity, luring it into a deep slumber.

Taking a deep breath, he clenched his fists and stared into your bright eyes. The genuine concern and sympathy on her face ruptured his dispassionate and indifferent image. He had wanted to see her for so many years, but couldn't think of anything to say now that she was standing in front of him.

He walked up to (Y/n), taking in every detail of her perfect face, then pulled her into his arms. He pulled her closer than he'd ever dared to when he was young, knowing now that he might not get this opportunity ever again. She rested her head on his shoulder and just let him hug her, running a hand through his hair. A tear fell down his face.

*Your P.O.V.*

You hated that this was the dream that your mind had decided to force upon you. Of course it had to be about Ben. You felt his tears, which only made holding yours in more difficult. Seeing him as he was when he'd trained you, being dressed in your padawan robes, being back in this forest, it all made it almost impossible to keep your composure.

Suddenly, you felt something hard on the top of your head and looked up, confused. You screamed and pushed him away from you, stumbling backwards and falling onto the leaf veiled ground.

He wasn't Ben anymore. You felt the fire behind the mask. It burned dangerously close to his emotions, and could've easily been mistaken for them. There was a menacing determination that you hadn't felt on the day that he'd killed all of the other padawan. He felt an unwavering need to protect you. The tears spilled out of your eyes, and you felt something behind his fire break.

You could feel the mask and hood on your own face, but looking at his mask and hood hurt you, so you tore your own off and, slowly, he followed suit. His eyes looked broken and dead, his face pale. His anger shattered when he saw your tears, and you could feel that he wanted nothing more that to embrace you once more and tell you that everything was alright. He knew, though, that he couldn't lie to you. Nothing about this was alright.

A voice cut through the forest as a fog rolled in, along with a wind that whipped violently through the trees.

Don't waste the opportunity that you've been given.

You saw Kylo fading, blurring out of your dream. You called out to him and outstretched you arm. The wind grew stronger, almost picking you up. Trees were being uprooted and leaves were flying past at such speeds that one even left a cut on your face, right under your cheekbone. Kylo reached out but it was too late. He was gone, and everything was black after a flash of the scarred face, just like the one that you'd seen before.
