Episode 10
You yawned, sitting in the corner of the small meeting room. You were cross legged, leaning your back against the glimmering, chrome walls. Hux was arguing with a stormtrooper who's uniform would've camouflaged into the walls if not for the black and red cape. By listening, you'd learned that her name was Captain Phasma. You had lost interest in their conversation long ago, but from what you'd heard, they were discussing updating some kind of training method.
"More and more of them have been disobeying. I'm afraid that if nothing is done, they'll begin to turn on us," Phasma said in an angry whisper.
"We don't need to change our ways, all we must do is make absolutely sure that they understand who's in charge," Hux argued.
They'd been repeating basically those same arguments for almost an hour now, and you were anxious to be able to move and speak again.
You began to drum your fingers silently on the floor when you saw Hux sneak a glance at you. You could feel that he was scared that your nervous habit would get you caught. It was ridiculous that he expected this complete lack of movement from you. You began to sit still again, and his stress slowly sank away.
Suddenly, it skyrocketed. Both him and Phasma stiffened and became nervous and fearful at the sound of heavy footsteps echoing down the corridor towards them. You felt the blood drain from your face. It was him. You had just enough time to assemble a strong barrier around your mind before the door burst open.
"Hux, the prisoner has just told me what we need to know," Kylo said, his black robes billowing as he stormed into the room. You felt his gaze fall upon you.
"Who's the girl?" he asked coldly. You felt him attempting to enter your mind, but it was like throwing stones at a fortress. You wouldn't let him in. No, you couldn't let him in.
You felt his annoyance as Hux answered.
"Snoke assigned her to me as a personal assistant of sorts." His voice was confident. Hux was obviously used to having to lie convincingly.
Kylo remained annoyed, as if he didn't quite believe Hux, but let the subject drop.
"She must stay here. I don't want anyone near the prisoner," Kylo said, before turning exiting the room.
"Watch her," Hux hastily whispered to Phasma, before following Kylo out of the room.
"Yes, sir," Phasma said.
After a moment, Phasma relaxed and sat on a chair across the room from where you were sitting.
"I know that you're not really a maid, or assistant, or whatever you're pretending to be."
"What makes you think that?" You asked, peering at the masked woman from beneath the shadow of your hood.
"The way you hold yourself. You're confident in your power, but unsure of your mind." Phasma spoke calmly.
"How-" you were cut off.
"You remind me of Kylo Ren." She said plainly.
You froze, unsure of how to respond.
"You don't need to tell me why you're hiding from him, you're just lucky that he's blind to the people that he considers below himself. You shouldn't have any trouble blending in, as long as you manage to not draw attention to yourself. How he noticed you just now is dangerous," Phasma advised.
You were quiet for another moment before you responded.
"Thank you," you said carefully.
"The First Order isn't evil, we're just more open in our opinions. I wanted to show you that even if those two dolts aren't the perfect example of it, not all of us are moody and lash out at the world when we're upset. I can tell that you don't trust us, but you need to have someone here that you trust. If you want, I can be that person," she offered.
After that, you just sat in silence. You couldn't respond to that immediately, and Phasma seemed to understand how you felt. You remained quiet until Hux and Kylo returned.
Hux looked terrified, while Kylo seemed to shake with fury. He strode towards you, pulling you up by the arm.
"I've just been informed that you never passed any background checks. In fact, no one was made aware of your presence at all." His voice, which would have been terrifying on its own due to the rage and volume, was made even more frightening by the mask. "You'll be coming with me to be interrogated."
You looked at Hux, understanding his terror. You were petrified. If Kylo knew who you were, who knew what he would do. Your worst fear was that he would kill you.
"Kylo, I checked her. She's fine." Phasma said calmly, following close behind him as he dragged you from the room.
"You would've made a record of that somewhere." Kylo practically spat.
You looked back at her as she stopped in her tracks, knowing that she couldn't stop Kylo from taking you. As you got further from the protection of Hux's room, you began to understand the situation you were in.
As the fear sank in, so did the memories of all of your dead peers. You remembered Luke, who never trusted Ben, out of fear that something like this would happen. You'd never have believed it if anyone had told you what Ben would become. Your body began to shake, and tears began streaming down your face.
You could almost taste the blood of the padawans in you mouth, like you had when Kylo Ren had kicked you to the ground so long ago. You began to feel dizzy and nauseous. You didn't pay any attention to your surroundings at all, but suddenly you were being strapped to a chair. Hyperventilating, you looked up, vision blurry, to see Kylo leave the room and activate his lightsaber before the door closed. You closed your eyes and let your head fall back. The sounds of yelling and metal ripping apart was muffled by the walls.
"He's going to let you sit here for a while before he questions you, so get comfortable, sweetheart. He probably only put you in here so that you could see how I look and get even more frightened," A cocky voice made your eyes fly open again, scanning the room to find a man strapped to a chair identical to yours next to you.
Your vision was still blurry and you felt like puking, but you managed to snarl, "Don't call me sweetheart," before turning your head away from the man and vomiting off the side of your chair.
The man chuckled, but the laugh turned into a cough. As you began to calm down, pushing Kylo to the back of your mind, your vision began focusing again. You looked at the coughing man to see that cuts and bruises covered his tan skin. His dark, wavy hair was a mess, and there were dark bags under his brown eyes.
"Are you with the resistance?" You whispered, noticing his ragged pilot's uniform.
After he stopped coughing he nodded, closing his eyes and resting his head on the back of the chair.
"So, now that you know why I'm here, why are you here?" He asked, voice hoarse.
"I knew Kylo Ren before he was Kylo Ren." You whispered.
The man seemed shocked.
"When he was trained with Luke?" He asked.
"I was trained with him. He trained me just as much as Master Luke ever did, but then he left, and I remain untrained and unhealed." You figured that if Kylo was going to discover you anyways, there's no real point in hiding your identity from a resistance member. There was no point in getting emotional anymore. There was no more running from this. Whatever happens, you had decided to accept it.
"I'm so sorry," the man said quietly. "I'm Poe. I'd shake your hand, but I'm all tied up at the moment."
You laughed lightly. "I'm (Y/n)."
"It's nice to meet you. You should get some rest before he comes back. It'll probably make the headache slightly less horrible."
You laughed loudly. "Don't worry, he trained me to be able to keep him and anyone else out of my mind. I should at least be able to hold out for a while."
"You should still get some sleep while you can," Poe said, concerned.
Closing your eyes, you took his advice, and fell asleep. No dreams came to you with a voice giving you not so helpful clues as to how Kylo needed you. You were on your own.
