Egg

"So" Brandon said with awkwardness as him and Callie sat quietly on the couches.
Stef had left a not long after the had their hug, she don't say much after. She just wiped her eyes with a smile then told Callie everything will work out and that she loved them both. Brandon and Callie just sat in silence not knowing whether or not to act on their feelings or stick with the whole siblings situation until she was officially not adopted.
"So" Callie looked over at him as she curled her knees up next to her sinking deeper into the couch.
Brandon looked over to her and he had this small smug on his face, like he was happy.
"Hungry?"
Callie smiled back, she couldn't help but smile.
"I don't know." She shrugged.
Brandon chuckled softly. "How do you not know if you're hungry or not?"
Callie smiled wider revealing her teeth.l then shrugged again.
Brandon looked at her and nodded his head seriously.
"Ok." He said then suddenly stood up from the couch and turned to her holding out his hand gesturing her to grab it.
He raised his eyebrows waiting for her to react, when she just sat there looking at him confused he flicked his hand a little.
"Come on."
Callie smirked then grabbed his hand and he pulled her off the couch.
"We" he began as he pulled her towards the kitchen area by her hand loosely. "We are making pancakes."
"Pancakes?" She replied back as their hands fell apart and Brandon wandered over to the cupboards.
"Yep." He replied and he continued to skim the contents until he pulled out a yellow bag.
"Why pancakes?" Callie giggled in curiosity as she leant down on the kitchen bench.
Brandon turned. "I told you that one day I would make you pancakes, remember?"
Callie smiled as her eyes lit up. "Yeah, your serious pancakes, I remember."
Brandon looked at her for a second as he smiled with his eyes and placed the yellow bag, which Callie soon realised was a bag of flour, down on the bench.
"This is kinda a kitchen table, not really, but we can pretend."
Callie looked away and smiled, it meant so much to her. How something she said so long ago as an impossible fantasy was now a reality. No one made her feel more loved than Brandon did.
"Anyway." Brandon turned from her feeling a sudden rush of nerve that the level of excitement and joy he felt wasn't mutual. "We need a pan."
Callie walked around the 'kitchen table' and opened up draw completely oblivious to the contents inside.
The draw contained a set of knives, old wooden handled ones, a big wooden spoon and a metal spatula.
She smiled as she lifted the spatula from the draw. "Well I got this."
Brandon looked up at her from his hunch as he held a metal mixing bowl in his arms.
"Great." He replied without any enthusiasm.
Callie frowned wondering where his happy mood went.
She placed the item down on the be bench then pushed herself up with her arms to one of the stools.
Brandon closed the cupboards and placed a mixing bowl, a metal whisk type thing, it looked more like a wired mess, and a tea towel down on the bench.
He skimmed the ingredients desperately as if it had gone from a bit of fun to competing in some cooking competition. Callie could see his nerve.
"You alright?" She questioned as she spun around on the stool until she was in front of him.
"Yeah.why?" He said from inside of the fridge as he searched for more ingredients.
Brandon closed the fridge door and an egg dropped from his arms and splattered on the floor instantly.
"Oh for..." His voice faded out as he kneeled down on the ground and grabbed the eggshell letting a line of yolk run down his forearm.
"Bloody hell." He added as he dropped it back on the ground creating more mess.
Callie smiled as she tried to hold back a laugh. She stepped off of the stool and grabbed the tea towel. She kneeled down on the ground in front of him and the egg.
She looked at him, eyes full of desperation and curious to why his sudden change of mood.
"Here" she shuffled closer to him as she held out a sheet of paper.
Brandon didn't look at her. He just had his had down kneeled in yolk as his jaw clenched up.
Callie looked at him harder, suddenly growing nervous she placed her finger on his chin out of almost instinct and lifted his head up to face her.
He looked at her desperately. Eyes wide and his lips parted.
Callie froze realising what was happening.
She lowered her hand down to her side and continued to look into his eyes. Then to his lips. Then back to his eyes.
In one sudden movement Brandon leant forward and pressed his lips to hers.
Callie instantly grabbed at his face pulling him closer to her.
Brandon placed his hand at the back of her head running sloppy egg yolk through her perfect locks, she didn't mind. The feeling of the wet substance meeting her skin made her smile with disgust.
Callie shuffled in closer totally forgetting about the egg splattered on the floor, which now stained her pants.
They were both covered in egg yolk as they kissed each other sweetly, like it was their last kiss, like it was their first.
