Chapter Thirty-Four: Fear Number Seven!
Chapter Thirty-Four!
As I wait quietly in the darkness for my next fear to form I begin to amuse myself by guessing what fear might be coming next. When suddenly I feel a rush of wind. I stumble slightly on my legs, then quickly regain my balance.
I know to welll where I am to fall. Then my surrondings begin to form, which corrects my suspission. I am now on a train. The only queshtion remains is... where is the train taking me?
I sit down on the floor and lie my head against the metal wall, I manage to doze off, before hearing the squeak of the metal against metal, which signals that the train has stopped.
Now I already know where I am. The train stops for no one. but now all of the sudden it stops? No. The fact that the train stopes. Signals that this is the last stop before, it continues it's familar pattern all over again.
I step off the train cautiosly. You never know when your fear will just pop out. I continue to walk. I am now in the Amity fields, which are closest to the fence which encloses the entire city, and keeps us safe. I walk twoards it. A few minutes later and I hear someone whistling.
I turn around to see who was whistling at me, and then I see two Dauntless gaurds.
"Hey you?" One of them says to me. The guard looks about in his forties, he looks serious like he's in the middle of important orders.
"Yeah?" I ask, caustiously, but also a bit curious to see what will come out of this conversation.
"You're coming with us!" He says, and both the gaurds walk twoards me.
I consider this for a second, and come to the conclusion that no good could come from this, and I decide to follow my first instinct, and run.
Obviously the two gaurds start to chase me, and unfortuneately I'm really tired from going through all the fearlandscpes, and after about a minute one of the guards jumps on my back, and knocks me down. The secod guard, hands him handcuffs, and they cuff me.
They take me close to the fence.Am I afraid of the fence? what does this have to do with anything?
When we reach the fence, they stick me in a car, and begin to drive, where to? I don't know. They drive as close to the fence as possible. Then guard number one types a code, on the keypad that I just noticed now, that was attached to the right side of the gate.
I hear the last button, then the fence doors fly open. I didn't know that they cpuld do that I think to myself. Then there they take me, more like pull/drag me out of the car, and that's when I see the row of people that are standing there right where the border of the fence ends.
As we grow closer to the line of people I see the faces, and immediatly reconigze them, the first is none other then the repersedinant of Abnegation Marcous Eaton, he's also the person who spoke in the Choosing Ceremony.
Then right next to him, is my family: Dad. Mom, Rose. I look at them with joy, but the only look I get from them is pure sadness. Next to them stand Sophie, Triss, Uriah, Marlene, Lynn, and all the way at the end I see him
Will.
The look that he gives me sends shivers down my spine. The only question that my mind can form is what are they all doing here?
"Christina I hear by formaly announce you bannished. You may never be allowed to come back into the city," Marcous begins to say. I stare at him in complete shock, "You have five minutes to say goodbye to all your friends and family then you must leave." He says.
I don't even queshtion him, for an unknown reason, and use my five minutes. I walk to my family, and hug each one of them, and whisper in their ear how much I love them. Then I move to my friends, I hug Sophie, and whisper in her ear, thanks for being my friend.Then I move to all my new friends, and hug them. and say that it was really great meeting them all.
Then I move to the last place of the line, twoards the last person, and look Will straight in the eye.
I feel his celery green eyes bear into my soul. For the time that I know Will, I have never seen him cry, yet now I can see that he's close to tears.
"You have two minutes left!" Barks the gaurd that tackled me earlier. I want to yell at the gaurds to give me more time, but I can't seem to shift my eyes away. He then pulls me to a hug, I feel his strong arms wrap around me, and I feel myself melt into his arms.
"I...I...I...I love you." He says, and his voice sounds so shattered, that I feel tears in my eyes.
I pull away and look into his eyes. I smile, which is really weird considering the moment we're in.
"I love you too."
"Times up!" The gaurd barks again, and grabs me by the arm, and begins to pull me twoards the gate.
That's when the most obvious thought hits me. What did I do, that's making me get bannished from the city?
I realize that this bafoon won't give me any answers so, I put my training into work, and twist my body as much as I can to the left, then I take my leg, and kick him in a place that I know will hurt. He grunts, and for a second loosens his grip. That's all I need!
I twist around, and shove him off of me. The second gaurd begins to chase me, I run as fast as I can, but not fast enough, because the gaurd knocks me to the ground. He begins to pull me off. I twist my body enough to get a glimpse of Marcous.
"Why am I being bannished from the city?" I shout loud enough for him to hear me. He looks at me, but his mouth stays shut. "I need an answer!" I shout.
This when I realize my fear it wasn't that I was scared of the fence, it's that I'm scared of whats beyond the fence. I've always been inside the fence.
I don't think there was ever anyone who hasn't lived in the fenced there's no one who knows what's beyond.
I as sure as hell don't want to be the first one to find out.
It looks like my friends are back! I thought sarcastically. Both the gaurds are back up, and are ready for round two. They start walking twoards me.
I don't even bother to wait for them to come close to me. I already begin to run. I realized that every time they chased me before they always caught because I never had a reason to run, but now I do, and I ran.
In my eyes, my life depended on it.
I ran to my safety.
Just on que I heard; 'hooot hoott!" The familiar noise of the train. I ran even faster my last chance to get away, and the train waits for no one.
I run faster, and faster pushing myself as much as I can. When I see it come even closer I can already feel my body relax more. Not yet! I tell myself Not until I'm on the train.
I run closer, and that's when I look behinde me. I look at the two bafoons, the first one is maybe a half a foot taller than me, and the second guy looks like he's about my hight. Both of them look really well built, but hey if I managed to survive the first stage of initiation under fours training, and hang on to the rail over the chasm, than this should be a piece of cake.
Am I really going to let this stupid fear get the best of me?
That's when I make a snap desicion. I run, except instead of running twoards the trains. I turn around and run twoards the two gaurds!
I can tell that they weren't expecting it. Then they stop, but I continued running, then as soon as reached the first bafoon I put my weight into a sucker punch, but he blocked it, so I used my other fist and hit him in the nose, he lost his balance for a second. So I hit him hard in the head. He knocked down to the floor.
Though the second gaurd grabbed me from behind. He lifted me off the ground. I began kicking, and going wild, like I was taught, I shifted my weight twoards the gaurd, and pushed all my weight onto him. He lost his balance and we both fell.
Though he's the one who had the rough landing. I rolled off of him, and caught a glimpse of his gun.
Before he could stop me I grabbed it, and aimed it at his head.
I heard footsteps from behinde. I could tell that it was the second gaurd, and that he was hoping the element of surprise, but he wasn't quiet enough, so as soon as he got close enough I sucker punched him with the gun.
Are you sure you want to kick me out now? I think to myself, and then I shoot.
Then the surrounding around me began to vanish, and I returned to the black awaiting my next fear.
