Talk

Melissa's pov
I was sitting on the curb, reading a book beside Enid. She rarely ever talks and she's really pretty, she's hard to read or understand, and she looks depressed, but I'm not gonna ask her if she is or not.
I looked up and saw Carl, dad, Maggie and rick walk out of ricks house.
"Where're ya goin'?" I asked. Carl jumped, causing the group to laugh.
"Oh, on-on a run." Carl said, fixing his gun.
"Okay... For what?" I asked. Enid looked up.
"We need...stuff..?" He said. I laughed, standing up.
"Okay..." I chuckled, hugging him. He hugged me and said bye before leaving with the others through the gates.
"What's his problem?" She mumbled. I shrugged.
"I'm gonna head inside, Kay?" I asked. She didn't answer, so I walked into my house. I didn't see dad anywhere, so I walked back out. I walked into ricks house, remembering nobody was there. Carol was gone out doing whatever job she was assigned to do.
Everyone was given jobs here. Rick and michone are constables, carol is a cook or something, Tara, Noah, and Glenn are people who go on runs, Rosalyn kinda babysits the kids with Damien sometimes, and I don't know what anybody else does. Dad doesn't have a job, and me and Carl are kinda just there.
I decided to walk over to Jessie's house. She has a little boy named same who I babysit sometimes.
I got to her house and she opened the door.
"Hey, Melissa. Uh, Sam is gone out with his brother somewhere, so uh, want me to send him your way when they get back?" She asked. They really don't know how dangerous this is, do they?
"Oh, uh, no, don't worry about it." I smiled.
"You'll see him at the welcoming part later tonight." She smiled.
"Welcoming party?" I asked.
"Yea, we thought we'd let you settle in and let Carl wake up from his coma before we had the party for you, so we are having it tonight. See you there?" She asked. I nodded.
"Sure. You'll see me, but don't worry if I'm a little late, my dad isn't very social." I shrugged. She laughed and nodded. I smiled and walked away.
"God, this isn't what I planned on doing today." I mumbled.
"You're going to the party?" Someone asked. I looked beside me and saw the older boy(by like a year, I just keep forgetting his name, he's also Jessie's son.) standing beside me and walking.
"I guess." I shrugged. "How long have you been stuck on this side of the walls?" I asked.
"A while." He shrugged.
"Four years?" I asked. "All five?" I assumed.
"About four years, why?"
"You only spent a year out there? When it was actually considered good still?" I asked, he nodded.
"I was with my parents, too, why?" He asked.
"I was out there for all the five years this has been happening. I was alone for the first couple weeks, I was shot and stabbed multiple times, I was beaten, kidnapped, starved, attacked, threatened, alone, scared, scavenging, for five years. I never stayed at one place with my group for too long because everything in this world just gets taken away from you. Don't think your staying here in Alexandria and being safe is permanent. Because I promise you, one day it will be all gone, and me and my group will be the only ones left to say I told you so. Because nobody else would have seen it coming. We are the only ones who are educated enough to know how to survive." I ranted.
"One day it will be over. And everyone will have normal lives again." He told me.
"Normal? Normal lives?" I laughed. "You think life will be normal without my uncle again? You think it will be normal for Carl without his mom again? Rick without his wife again? Maggie with her whole family gone right in front of her? Think again, dude."
I said, not knowing his name.
One of his friends or something suddenly appeared.
"You're hot when you're angry." He smirked. I rolled my eyes. "Would it be wrong to kiss you right now?" He asked.
"Yes, it would. Because I have a boyfriend and your ugly as fuck." I said.
"By the way, my names Trevor." The older boys friend said. "And Would your boyfriend like this?" He asked, grabbing my face and kissing me. I pounded on his chest so he would let me go. I brought my leg up and kicked him in the stomach.
"No." I answered. "Watch it. I know several different ways to silently kill someone." I said, walking away.
I walked around the corner and to carls house. I saw the group standing around. I noticed Carl and I rushed up to him, hugging him. As soon as I wrapped my arms around him, I started crying into his chest.
"Hey, hey, hey...what's wrong angel?" He asked softly.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry," I repeated. He rubbed my back and hugged me.
"What's the matter?" He whispered.
"T-Trevor k-ki...kissed m-me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Carl." I cried. He hugged me tighter.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"I was walking, when Jessie's oldest son, I don't remember his name, walked up to me and got me mad. T-then his friend Trevor walks up and starts saying I'm hot w-when I'm mad and then he asked if he could ki-kiss me... I said no and that I h-had a boyfriend, then he asked if you'd like this and then he k-kissed me-me." I explained, trying to calm down.
"Baby..." He sighed, kissing my head.
"You hate me now, don't you." I said, not caring about the group who was probably watching us.
"I could never hate you, Melissa." He told me.
"What did you do after?" He asked.
"I told him that I know several ways to kill someone silently so he should watch his back." I chuckled slightly, remembering the frightened expression on Trevor's face. Carl chuckled, rubbing my back again.
"You know how much I love you?" He asked. I smiled.
"How much?" I asked.
"I love you more than life itself. And I know we're only seventeen but I know that I love you and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you." He said. I put my forehead on his and looked into his eyes.
"What are you saying, grimes?" I whispered, smiling. He took my hand and put his over it in a fist, then opening his hand, holding onto mine.
"And this is how much I love you." He whispered, taking his hand away. I looked down, opening my hand. I looked at the sparkly diamond ring in my hand. I looked up at Carl with tears brimming my eyes.
"Carl..." I smiled.
"Melissa Dixon, my angel, will you marry me?" He asked in almost a whisper since our faces were so close. I smiled and nodded.
"Yes." I whispered back. He smiled and took the ring, putting it on my finger. I looked up at him, smiling. He wiped the oncoming tears from my eyes and held my face gently. He kissed my lips gently.
We heard several claps from the group beside up. I laughed and broke the kiss, looking at Carl.
"Damn." He sighed, smirking. I chuckled and looked at the group. Maggie, Rosalyn, rosita, michone, Tara and carol all ran up to me, surrounding me. I looked over at Carl, who was getting high fives from the guys and oats in the back. We both laughed.
The group eventually stopped bombarding up.
Dad came up to me and hugged me.
"God, dad. Don't cry." I laughed.
"My baby girls growing up." He said. I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"Dixons don't cry, dad. I thought you told me that." I said, chucking. He nodded and let go of me.
"There's a party this evening." I told the group, smiling.
"Yea." Rick nodded.
"I'm gonna go get ready..." I said, walking upstairs. Carl followed me into his room.
"USE PROTECTION!" I heard Glenn yell as he ran upstairs.
"Okay!" Carl yelled as he walked into the room. I slapped Carl on the arm, looking out the window. He laughed, walking up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist. I laughed. I turned around to face him.
"Do you know how beautiful you are?" He smiled. I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"Yea." I smirked and shrugged. He raised an eyebrow.
"Oh really?" He asked. I nodded.
"Oh yea. You're not too bad yourself." I shrugged, smirking. He laughed and poked my nose, then my forehead.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I don't know." He laughed and crashed his lips onto mine.
It soon turned into a full-out make out session and we were soon lying on his bed.
"Oh, um, sorry." Carol laughed at the doorway. I jumped and caught my breath. I sat up and looked at Carl, who was fixing his hair. I chuckled as carol walked in, sitting down on the bed.
"Now, I know you two are spending a lot of time together and-"
"Carol." I whined, setting my head on the wall.
"No, no. Now, has your dad ever...talked... About things to you?" She asked me. My eyes widened as I his my face with my hands.
"You kidding me?" I mumbled.
"Okay, so wh-" she started.
"CAROL!" I shouted, laughing. "Stooop." I whined. She laughed and nodded, walking to the door.
"Come to my house. I need to find something to wear for tonight." I told Carl.
"Don't you let me see you two again or i'll ground both of ya." She joked. I rolled my eyes and dragged Carl over to my house.
"They have dresses here, help me find one." I said, looking through the closet. He pulled out a black long sleeved shirt(to hide all the bruises, cuts, and scars that never faded over the while that we were here because he knows how much I hate them) that went just above my knees. It had some designs on the top and was all black.
"Does it look nice? I think you should wear it." He shrugged.
"It's perfect, Carl." I smiled, kissing him.
I sat down beside Carl on my bed. We intertwined our hands and looked out the window while we played with each others hands.
We ended up talking about whatever as we laughed. I looked over at my hand and noticed my ring.
"We're married." I smiled.
Married.
