Chapter 25: Divided we fall
Kanan's POV
Kanan stood at the entrance of the rebel base with the rest of the Ghost Crew looking at their friend, Zeb's dead body. Ezra stood their with his mouth open clearly in shock while Hera laid her head on his shoulder and cried tears onto his armour plate. Kanan looked back at the gathering crowd of rebels and spotted Sabine standing near the lake with her hands covering her mouth.
"You see what she's capable of. She did this Sabine!" Kanan yelled across the field at the young Mandalorian who looked up at him at the sudden outburst.
"What makes you so certain she did this? How do you know it wasn't the Empire?! Or just a group of pirates?!" Sabine yelled back, watching out of the corner of her eyes as the crowd of rebel soldiers and pilots looked back and forth between the two of them.
Kanan was about to yell back when she heard Hera's soft fragile voice tell him not to fight it, not now. He turned back around to Zeb's body and watched as people came to cover him up and take him away. He knew the next few days would be spent investigating Zeb's mysterious death. He was about to follow everyone inside when he received a transmission from Lux saying that they had just entered Takodana's atmosphere and the plan was ready to go.
Sabine's POV
Sabine watched as everyone started to head inside but noticed that Kanan, Hera and Ezra made their way to the hanger instead which happened to be at the same time as when a ship started to approach the base and because it was so low she was able to see through the cockpit window that Ashoka, Rex, Lux and her mum were on bored. That's when it hit her that Kanan was putting his plan into action.
Sabine bolted for the hanger and saw that the ship hadn't even landed yet, it was just hovering above the surface of the floor, the wind gushing down near anyone and thing that was in its proximity. She watched as the boarding ramp of the ship lowered and she saw the figures of Ahsoka, Rex and her mother. She tried screaming at them to tell them it was a trap but her voice was drowned out by the sound of the engine.
Ahsoka Tano's POV
Ahsoka watched as the boarding ramp lowered and she took in the sight of the rebel hanger but what really caught her eye was when she saw Kanan, Ezra and Hera standing side by side at the end of the ramp and as she was about to go out and greet them, Kanan's face turned to a very aggressive look whilst Ezra and Hera raised their weapons.
She then heard a faint noise in the distance and looked up to see Sabine yelling that it was a trap. Ahsoka was about to launch at the trio when all of a sudden she felt a blaster on the back of her head.
"Don't move. It's over Ahsoka."
"Lux"
Thrawn's POV
A few moments ago
Thrawn saw this as the perfect opportunity to sneak back into the rebel base and try to dig up some information on where they had secret hideouts and if he was lucky enough, the location of Rebel High Command.
Thrawn snuck into Commander Sato's office knowing that if we were to find anything valuable, it would be here. He knew he wouldn't have much time so he scurried through the piles of information and loaded some of it onto a data tape before he had to eject it due to footsteps coming his way. He quickly left Stao's office but little did he know that Sato himself had watched him.
Ahsoka Tano's POV
What happened next happened so fast that Ahsoka was still trying to process it. She activated her lightsabers, a few blasted bolts went off and before she knew it her and Kanan had locked blades while Bo had her darksaber against Ezra's lightsaber, Rex and Lux had their blaster's pointed at each other and Sabine had tackled Hera to the ground.
"So this how it ends" she whispered to Kanan
"All of us divided" he said back.
Alright! Finally he civil war begins! Now I'm hoping to have this book finished by the end of January so I'm gonna be updating like crazy but I do have a very clear mind on how I want things to proceed from here.
