Chapter 7: Tactics
Darth Vader's POV
Vader flew down on his TIE fighter to the spot where he had felt the disturbance and as his ship was landing, he noticed someone walking towards him. Vader jumped down to face the newcomer as they stood a few meters apart. "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR WHAT YOU DID" the man yelled. Vader noted that this man was a clone and thought nothing of it, "I've had a lot of people say that to me, you're going to have to be more specific" Vader replied not moving a muscle. The clone started charging at him and trying to shoot him with his twin pistols but he deflected them with ease. Normally he'd be dead by now, but Vader wanted to interrogate the old clone to see if there were any more traitorous clones running about. As the clone ran closer, Vader was ready to disarm him but then something distracted him, "REX NO" Vader looked ahed and was shocked to see Ahsoka Tano running to the clone. WAIT she's alive, and...and this guy is REX. These thoughts distracted him allowing Rex to head but him over the cliff.
Ahsoka's POV
Ahsoka watched as her best friend went over the cliff with Vader. "REX" she yelled again as she stood at the edge and reached out to the force to lift him back up. She had her eyes closed as she had found out during her early trading that this helped her to concentrate more, and by the time she re-opened them, Rex was floating next to her. Ahsoka brought him down as they both caught their breath. Just as she was going to say something, Rex lunged at her and hugged her with all her strength, she responded by embracing the hug. "I hat to break up this happy reunion but we have to catch up with the rest of the fleet" Ahsoka and Tex both turned to see Kanan and Ezra standing behind them. All four of them ran to The Phantom and buckled in as Chopper flew them out of the Atmosphere and into the war zone of space.
Thrawn's POV
"I want every last rebel ship destroyed! If even one of them escapes, we have failed our job!" Thrawn yelled out on the bridge as he watched the battle unfold before him. "Sir, they're not firing, should we convert the energy form the deflector shields to the canons?" One of the officers asked from the pits, "I would have expected that to be done already" Thrawn barked, the officer looked away in shame. And so he should, The Empire needs the best Thrawn thought to himself as the ship rumbled but didn't show any sign of explosion. "What was that?" Thrawn spat, "Sir, the rebel ships have attached themselves to the ship but our fleet can't fire in risk of blowing up the engines" the Lieutenant said, Thrawn stood there trying to hide his shock.
Hera's POV
Sato thought she was crazy when she had suggested it but had reluctantly agreed and was now praising her for the idea of attaching themselves to the main Star Destroyer while their hyperdrives loaded up. "We'll all need to jump at the same time so they don't catch on to what we're doing and track us" Hera said over the com, "let's just hope Kanan can catch up in time" Zeb said in his low voice as he entered the cockpit. "Yeah, they should have been back by now" Sabine echoed from the co-pilot seat. "We're back now!" Ezra said over the com, "seriously" Sabine muttered as Zeb and Hera laughed at the irony of her earlier comment. "Kanan, please tell me your hyperdrive is ready to jump" Hera asked as she entered the final digits of the coordinates, "yep, we'll meet you at the backup haven" a familiar voice said. "Wait is that..." Hera started, "it sure is" Kanan said while laughing. Zeb and Sabine gave her a confused look but there was no time to explain, "alright Phoenix Squadron, let's move out" Hera said as she engaged the hyperdrive with the rest of the fleet.
Rex's POV
As The Phantom entered hyperspace and the Imperial ships became a blur until they were completely gone, Rex walked the short distance to Ahsoka and sat beside her, "Listen Ahsoka, I shouldn't have done what I did, it was reckless and foolish. I was just so mad at the sight of seeing him..." He started trying to make it up to his friend. "Rex, it's ok... there's something I need to tell you" Ahsoka said, there was something wrong though, she looked very scared. "Anakin isn't dead" she blurted out making the former Republic solider widen his eyes in shock, "well from a certain point of view he is, but he isn't physically dead" she said looking more worried than he had ever seen her. "Well we have to go rescue him, do you know where he is" Rex said standing up. She guided him back down and looked straight into his eyes, "Anakin...is Vader"
