Part 7

The Dawn of Battle

Lucifer stood at the precipice, his wings of black fire trembling in anticipation. Lilith, his eternal consort, smiled, her eyes burning with crimson flames. "Begin, my king," she whispered, her voice like the rustle of a serpent in the night. "They won't even know what struck them."

But before their legions could take their first step, the heavens split open. Golden light crashed upon the land, blinding as a thousand suns. The army of Hell froze, petrified in awe. Before them stood celestial warriors, their armor gleaming as though forged from stars, their swords blazing with holy fire.

And then, from the light, he emerged. Apollyon. His armor, black as soot, but veined with gold, chimed with each step. His helm obscured his face, but even without it, Lilith knew him. Her heart, if it could still be called a heart, clenched. "Adam," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Apollyon raised his sword, a blade that seemed forged from the very wrath of God. "Lucifer," his voice was like thunder, but with a note of…regret? "Did you think they wouldn't notice? Did you think I wouldn't come?"

Lucifer laughed, but his laughter was nervous, forced. "Adam, old friend," he stepped forward, his wings spreading wide. "Still holding a grudge?"

Apollyon did not answer. Instead, he swung his sword, and the ground beneath the demons' feet split open, swallowing their screams. Lilith stepped forward, her claws gleaming. "You don't frighten me," she hissed, but her eyes betrayed fear.

Apollyon turned to her, and in his gaze, she saw not anger, but…pain. "Lilith," he said, his voice soft as a breeze. "You know how this ends."

She froze, her heart pounding in her chest like a trapped bird. "Then do it," she whispered, her voice breaking.

He raised his sword, but at that moment…

Apollyon was about to strike Lilith, the self-proclaimed Queen of Hell. But in that very instant, Abduscius appeared, the first archdemon, spawn of Lucifer and Lilith herself. Apollyon realized: this was his true adversary. He would test the newfound might of Hell, coursing through his veins, for before him was a human soul, albeit one stained with sin, ensnared by contracts with infernal entities.

The battle ignited. Abduscius, seeing that the angel fought him as an equal, radiated pride. "Adam, father of mankind! Who would have thought you were so strong? Allow me to introduce myself – Abduscius, the first archdemon in all of Hell!" he roared. Only a few in Heaven and Hell knew the truth: before them was not Adam, but Apollyon, in his guise.

Apollyon, silently, parried the blows, analyzing his enemy. Where did such power come from? Soon he saw: thousands of chains bound Abduscius to the souls in Hell. One human soul, like a hundred suns. Hellish souls, losing half their power, equaled fifty suns. Apollyon understood: the only way to free the sinful souls was to destroy Abduscius, sever this monstrous network. The decision solidified, and Apollyon's sword blazed with a new, unholy light.
