I was at a tech store looking for a new camera for my YouTube videos.
I walked up to a worker, "Excuse me but where can I find the high definition cameras".
The worker turned around and I mentally cringed at the sight of Derek.
"Oh they're right over....... Matt! It's been a while".
I formed a fake smile, "Yeah".
"I mean not since high school when you and that girl randomly stopped coming to school",he continued.
I rolled my eyes, "That girls name is Jaiden, and we had to start taking online school when we moved to California",I stated.
He nodded, "Looks like we both ended up here in LA in the end".
"Sadly",I mumbled under my breath.
"So how is that girl... Umm Jaiden",he asked.
"She's great, why does that matter to you",I said a little defensively.
He chuckled, "I just have always thought that she was kinda hot".
"Oh umm well...she's uhh",I said not being able to process any words.
"She's single right".
I nodded slowly .
"Good to know, now let me take you to those cameras",he said turning around and leading me to some.
I picked one out, paid, and left as quickly as possible.
I drove to Jaidens house to show her my camera.
About half and hour later I was standing at her front door knocking.
"Hey!",she exclaimed opening the door.
"Guess what I got",I said swaying the bag with the camera in her face.
A smile plastered across her face, "One of those new HD cameras",she squealed.
I nodded while grinning widely.
She pulled me inside and we set up the camera in the spot where we film all of our videos.
"Let's do that question tag",she exclaimed.
I nodded before sitting down next to her.
Jaiden sent out a tweet asking the fans to send us questions.
We had Brendon read them out to us.
We started the video and the questions began.
"Who is most likely to get arrested",Brendon read.
Jaiden and I both pointed at each other.
A shocked looks appeared on Jaidens face, "Thats a lie".
I rolled my eyes, "Says the girl who tried to convince me to let all the dogs free at the dog pound",I laughed.
"Moving on",Jaiden said stubbornly.
"How often do you two fight".
Jaiden and I both looked at each other and shrugged.
"We don't really ever argue",I admitted.
"Yeah.... Until Matt decides to eat my food".
"Yeah. That's when the claws come out".
Brendon read off a few more random questions before we finished the video.
All three of us started playing on our phones out of boredom.
Suddenly Jaiden leaped up off the couch.
"Derek just DM'd me",she exclaimed.
Brendon and I both shot each other annoyed expressions.
"He wants to hang out",she said even more excited.
I didn't even know how to react. I just sat there staring at her with no expression.
"Isn't that amazing",she said ruffling my hair.
I still didn't speak up, but Brendon sure did.
"Why would you want to hang out with Captain dipstick",he said causing me to let out a breathless laugh.
Jaiden slapped my arm at my immaturity.
"He's not a 'Dipstick', he's really nice. Now be happy for me",she said crossing her arms.
Although it hurt, she was my best friend and I had to be there to be "happy" for her when she's happy.
I forced a smile onto my face, "I am happy for you and I'm glad he finally sees how amazing you are".
Brendon rolled his eyes at me because he knew I was not only lying to Jaiden, but to myself.
Because the truth is,I don't want her anywhere near Derek.I want her to be with me, but there's no way I could ever tell her that.
