Jaiden and I left to go get ice-cream after the awkward situation with Brendon.
Jaiden went to find a table while I ordered our ice creams.
"One cookie dough and a cookies and cream".
The guy made our icecreams before handing them to me.
I quickly payed before finding Jaiden at a two person table.
Jaiden and I talked and laughed with no empty spaces in our conversations.
Everything was perfect until I noticed Jaiden starring at something behind me.
I followed her gaze to see Derek, the guy Jaiden had been "in love" with since we were 14.
I've always hated him. First of all he's a total jerk who has no respect for girls.
Second of all, the "love of my life" is head over heals for him.
I've always tried to figure out what he had that I don't.
Maybe it's because he has a six pack, or bright green eyes. Maybe it's the fact that he 6'2 and was captain of the football team back when we were in high school.
I rolled my eyes and turned back to Jaiden expecting to see her practically drooling over him but instead her head was in her hands.
I turned back to him feeling confused until I saw a girl who's hand was interlocked with Derek's.
She was really pretty, but she wasn't Jaiden.
"Can we please leave",Jaiden pleaded.
I nodded with a light smile before Jaiden and I slid past the couple out of the door.
As soon as we step foot outside Jaiden looked at me.
"I don't get it",she simply said.
I tilted my head in confusion.
"He's had so many girlfriends over the years, but has never once made any effort to be with me. What's wrong with me?",she asked with pleading eyes.
I slowly shook my head, walking over to her. "Theres absolutely nothing wrong with you, you're perfect",I said letting my honest words slip out of my mouth.
She looked up at me smiling, "Thank you Matthew, I'm so lucky to have you as a bestfriend".
That fake smile that I was so used to using formed on my face.
"I'll always be here",I said before pulling her into a hug.
