I walked into the room with Max and found Rick sitting in the chair.
"He did great. No complications." I stated.
"How long before he's healed?" He asked.
"Allow four to seven days. Don't let him jump around or run until the five days are up. He'll be groggy and drowsy because the anesthesia is still wearing off, but if you have any questions feel free to call or come by." I replied.
"Okay, thanks." He replied.
I nodded and opened the door for him.
"You know how you said the hallways were confusing?" He asked.
"Yeah." I replied.
"It's a straight shot from here to the front." He replied, smirking.
"See? The hall ways are confusing. I never know where I am." I replied, obviously lying and he knew it.
He laughed and walked to the front.
I walked to the front desk and stood behind Annette while she gathered the discharge papers for Max.
"You know, my daughter is single, and I don't see a ring on you!" Annette exclaimed.
I stapled the papers for her, and wondered if she was talking about Beth or Maggie.
Beth was too young for him, so obviously it had to be Maggie.
"Really? What's her name?" Rick asked.
Suddenly Annette grabbed my arms from behind me and turned me around so I was facing Rick.
"Dr. Greene." Annette answered.
I awkwardly smiled while I really just wanted to turn around and snap her neck.
"Yeah, I might just have to take her on a date some time." Rick stated before dropping his left eye down in a wink and taking the papers from Annette.
"Cute dog, by the way." Annette stated.
"Cute daughter, by the way." He replied, before looking to me and smirking.
For a man just getting out of a marriage, he sure did flirt.
I quickly pulled myself from Annette's grip and blushed before quickly walking to my office before Annette could further embarrass me.
-
I walked into Maggie's hospital room, watching her text away on her phone.
"We have to talk." I stated.
I pulled my jacket off before sitting on the edge of her bed.
After almost an hour of talking, I told her everything she didn't know that happened the past week.
She knew about me being a drug dealer for Merle, and she had been helping me try to get out of it for weeks now.
"I've made up my mind. I'm turning Merle in tomorrow. I don't have any drugs in my system, I have proof from old drug tests at work from every three months, and they could do a drug test right now and I'd be clean. I've been clean." I rambled.
"At least you're finally getting out of this." She replied.
"I hope." I mumbled.
-
I walked into the police station and walked up to the receptionist.
"Hello, can I help you?" She asked.
"I need to talk to Rick Grimes." I answered.
"Just a sec, I'll make sure he's not busy." She replied.
I nodded and tapped my foot while I waited.
"Can I get a name?" She asked.
"Danielle Greene." I answered.
After a few seconds, she allowed me to go to his office.
My heart was in my throat as he opened the door and greeted me with a smile.
"This isn't about you or what happened. I'm here because I need to tell you something you need to know about the largest drug dealers in this county." I stated.
He closed the door and shut the blinds as I stepped into his office.
"Okay." He mumbled as he sat down at his desk.
"I'm a drug dealer." I stated.
I looked down at my shaking hands before back up at him.
"Merle Dixon. He's threatened me for eight months now. I know I'm putting my family in danger, I know I'm going to sit in a jail cell and rot for the rest of my life, and I know that my family is going to disown me." I explained.
"I don't do drugs, and I have proof of that. I'm friends with Jake Chadwell, and he's been dealing drugs and doing drugs with Merle Dixon and his guys for two years. I've only dealt drugs for Merle twice, but it's twice and I know it was wrong and illegal. That's why I'm turning myself in. I can show you everything. I can show you where the drugs are, where they live, where our meeting places are, and the money. But before you arrest me, I need to tell my family." I continued.
He slowly stood up from his seat and I tried to fight my anxiety.
"You have an hour, but I'm coming with you." He stated, his mood completely changed.
I nodded and stood up.
-
I walked into the dining room, finding my family sitting at the table.
They all looked at me and I started spilling everything to them.
"Get out of my house." My father ordered.
"Hershel, I knew." Annette cried.
"Her friend, Jake Chadwell, works with us. He's told us everything. We know. Your daughter isn't in trouble as of now, but that's because he has proof. He's told us how Merle has been threatening her and you all, and he has proof of that too. We've looked at her drug tests and all of them are clean." Rick explained.
I felt an overwhelming amount of emotion and I nearly dropped to my knees.
"I know what I done was wrong, but I didn't know how to get out of it." I cried, watching as Beth stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me.
"Get out of my house." My father repeated, his tone a lot sharper.
"But, daddy," Beth replied, pulling away.
"Don't make me tell you again!" He snapped.
"Come on," Rick mumbled, wrapping his hand around my wrist.
He pulled me out of the house and all I could hear was Beth and Annette crying, my father yelling, and nothing from my brothers.
"I didn't know Jake works with you." I stated, trying to stop myself from having a full on panic attack.
"He's one of our best. You're lucky he's been working undercover or your ass would be grass right now." He replied.
"But he smells like weed and alcohol half of the time." I replied.
"To play the part, you have to be the part." He replied.
"You let him do marijuana and drink alcohol?" I asked.
"No. He's around those guys all of the time. It's no wonder he reeks." He answered.
"So all the times I thought he was high, he was acting?" I inquired.
"Yup." He replied.
"Wait. Is that why you've been showing up everywhere?" I asked.
"No, that's just fate, but Shane taking you to dinner the other night was part of the investigation." He answered.
-
"Thanks for throwing me under the bus." Jake stated as I walked into the station with Rick.
I immediately threw my arms around him and tried not to cry.
"You never told me!" I exclaimed as his arms wrapped around my back.
"I'm not supposed to." He replied.
"Grimes, we've got two of them. We're bringing them in." Someone said from the police scanner.
-
"My dad told me to leave." I told Jake.
"Even after Rick explained everything?" He asked as we walked to his real truck.
"Yeah." I mumbled.
"So you can't go back there?" He inquired.
"I could, but I wouldn't be there long." I replied.
"You can come to my place." He replied.
"Your real place or your trailer?" I asked.
"My real place." He answered.
"Okay." I mumbled.
I climbed into his truck which was very nice, I must say.
"Is there anything else I don't know about?" I asked.
"I don't think so." He answered.
-
I walked into Jake's apartment for the first time, and I just wanted to lay down on the floor and go to sleep.
"I'll take the couch, you can have the bed." He stated.
"No, that's okay." I replied, sitting down on the couch.
"How am I not going to jail?" I asked.
"Because you've never been in jail, your record is clean, you are clean, you were threatened, you actually helped us find out shit, and we're on your side. Merle is one of the big drug dealers around here. We've been trying to catch him for years, and now we got him." He answered.
"Oh." I mumbled.
"Yeah. Are you hungry?" He asked.
"No." I replied.
"Yeah you are. I'm ordering pizza." He replied, standing up and walking over to his home phone.
My cell phone began to ring and I pulled it out of my pocket.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Where are you? Are you okay?" Annette asked.
"I'm fine. I'm with Jake." I answered.
"I've tried talking to your dad. He just won't listen." She replied.
"It's okay, I won't be coming home. I'm taking a day off work tomorrow to look for a place." I replied.
"No, don't do that. Promise me you won't do that." She ordered.
"Why?" I asked.
"We love having you here. We want you here." She replied.
"Your house is already full as it is." I replied.
"Exactly. We love having a full house. Please don't look for a place, not yet." She replied.
"I have to go." I replied.
"Okay, sweetie. We love you." She stated.
I hung up before sitting my phone on the coffee table.
"Was that your dad?" Jake asked.
"No." I replied.

"Don't let it get to you. He'll come around." He replied.
I nodded my head before biting my lip.
-
"Do I go to work or not?" I asked Jake.
"I'd go. Face him." He replied.
"Could you take me home so I can change?" I inquired.
"Shawn dropped off a bag that Beth packed for you." He replied.
"Oh, okay. Wait, Shawn knew you were undercover?" I asked.
"No, I called him last night." He answered.
"Oh, thanks." I mumbled.
-
I walked into work, finding Annette at the front desk as always.
"Dr. Greene, one of the dogs we neutered yesterday are back with bleeding around the wound." One of the nurses, Stacy, stated.
"How was your vacation?" I asked, taking the file from her.
"Horrible. Men are stupid. Men are pigs." She snapped.
"Amen." I replied as I walked into the first exam room.
"Hey," Rick greeted.
"Hi. What's wrong with Max?" I asked.
"Last night he threw up after he ate, and this morning we noticed blood around the wound." He answered.
I frowned and pet the dog on the head before sitting down at the computer.
"I'll get Dr. Greene." I stated.
"You are Dr. Greene." He replied.
"My father." I replied, standing up.
I opened the door and found my father leaving a different exam room.
"Dr. Greene," I called out.
He turned around and his eyes grew cold before he began walking toward me.
I handed him the file and told him what was happening with Max.
"I've got it handled from here, Dr. Greene." My father stated, his tone sharp.
"Um, I would like to stay and observe if that's okay." I replied.
"It's not. I don't need you in here." He replied.
"Okay," I muttered before walking to the door.
-
I walked into an exam room with Max's leash in my right hand.
I closed the door behind me before Max ran over to Rick.
I handed Rick the leash before setting the file on the counter.
"He's fine, he ju--"
"Dr. Greene, assist Annette at the front desk." My father ordered, interrupting me.
I mentally rolled my eyes and glanced to Rick.
"Now." My father ordered.
"I'm going." I mumbled.
I walked to the front desk and stood by Annette who handed me a french fry.
"Why won't he let me exam or consult?" I asked.
"He's just trying to deal with everything. He isn't being very nice to me either." Annette stated.
I sighed and ate the french fry before Rick and Max came around to the front.
"Dr. Greene, did you sign the discharge papers on Wednesday when Max had his surgery?" My father asked, coming up from behind me.
"No, why?" I asked.
"You were observing the surgery. You were supposed to sign." He stated.
I turned around and ignored him before he handed me a clipboard.
"Sign these." He ordered before walking away.
I signed my name before handing the clipboard to Annette.
She stapled the papers before handing them to Rick.
"Thanks." He replied.
I stole one of Annette's fries before Rick looked to me and smirked.
"You treat your mom that way?" He asked.
"Stealing food from an old woman isn't very nice, you know?" Annette replied.
"You just gave me a fry ten seconds ago." I replied.
"Do you eat? Because I could take you to dinner so you could stop taking food from your mother." He replied, still smirking.
"You're a smooth, young man." Annette stated.
"It doesn't matter how much I eat. I could eat all day." I replied, smirking.
"Stop playing hard to get." Annette hissed, hitting my knee.
Rick laughed and smiled before leaving the clinic.
"Who's picking up Maggie from the hospital?" I asked Annette.
"She should be home. I think Shawn was supposed to pick her up." She answered.
