Chapter 11
-
I glanced over to Shane who pulled his shirt back on before looking to me and smirking.
"We didn't do much talking." I stated, buttoning my jeans.
"Are you seeing anybody?" He asked.
"Obviously not." I replied.
"So, let's cut to the chase. Your mine, I'm yours." He replied.
My lips turned up into a smile before I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Aren't you all tied up on Lori?" I asked.
"Obviously not." He replied.
"Why are you so hung up on me?" I inquired, picking my shirt up and shaking the hay off of it.
"I've been hung up on you since our date at the diner." He replied.
"I don't want to move so fast." I replied.
"We skipped everything and went straight to the sex. I think we're already going fast." He replied.
I left the stables before heading back to the house.
-
"So is Shane good in bed?" Andrea asked.
"Yeah, is he good?" Maggie asked.
"Yeah." I replied, setting plates down on the dinner table.
I looked to the door, watching as Rick and Dale walked in.
"There's walkers in the barn." Dale stated.
I slowly looked to Maggie who looked to me before we looked back to Rick and Dale.
"There's walkers in the barn." I replied.
"You knew?" Rick asked.
"Listen, our father doesn't understand. He thinks they're sick. He thinks we can save them." I answered.
"I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night finding that one of our people have been attacked by a walker that escaped the barn." Rick stated.
"Talk to my father." Maggie replied.
"Where is he?" Dale asked.
"He's around here somewhere." I replied.
"That helps a lot." Rick snapped.
I was taken aback by his tone, and so was Andrea and Maggie.
"We'll figure this out." Dale stated.
-
I ran out to the barn, finding Shane hacking away at the lock holding the barn doors together.
"Shane, stop!" I yelled.
"Shane!" Rick yelled.
Rick and my father both had walkers on a pole and Shane got the doors open.
"These aren't people! They aren't coming back!" Shane yelled.
Walkers began coming out of the barn and I stood back with Maggie who started crying.
My heart started racing as Shawn stumbled out of the barn.
Shane began yelling at my father and shooting one of the walkers in the chest before trying to prove his point.
Maggie hit the ground and we both started crying even harder as our mother walked out of the barn.
I felt arms wrap around me and I looked up to see Blake.
More walkers began coming out of the barn and Andrea started shooting the walkers along with Rick.
Glenn looked over to Maggie before looking to me.
I slowly nodded my head before he started shooting the walkers.
I buried my face in Blake's chest while he put a hand on the back of my head.
Carol began screaming and I turned my head and watched as Sophia trudged out of the barn.
Daryl held her back while Rick walked up and put Sophia down.
-
"Hey," Lori mumbled, walking over in front of me.
"Hi." I muttered.
"I'm sorry about what happened. I'm also sorry for what I said." She replied.
"You're just trying to get me to talk to my father to let you all stay here." I replied.
"No, I'm not. I planned on apologizing for what I did earlier, but everything happened. I shouldn't have said any of that." She stated.
"What I said wasn't very nice either." I replied, slowly looking up at her.
"I deserved it." She replied.
I scooted over so she could sit down on the porch swing.
"I don't hate you, and I guess I'm just angry at myself." She continued.
"I shouldn't have slept with Rick. I knew he was still married, but he didn't have his ring. I still shouldn't have done it." I replied.
"We've all made our fair share of mistakes, I guess." She replied.
"Yeah." I replied.
"I think I'm pregnant." She stated.
I looked at her with wide eyes before she put a hand on her forehead.
"I'm sorry, I just needed to tell someone. I think I'm going to send Glenn to get a test." She replied.
"Come with me." I ordered before walking inside.
I lead her up to my room before opening the bottom drawer on my dresser.
I lifted up clothes before pulling out two pregnancy tests.
"Wow, you have a stash." She replied.
"Not really, I was just feeling sick a while back and I bought a lot of them." I replied.
She took the tests and I allowed her to use my bathroom.
-
She slowly walked out of my bathroom before throwing the tests away.
"Are you pregnant?" I asked.
She nodded her head before leaving my room without saying a word.
Even though Lori wasn't my favorite person, I still felt kinda bad for her.
-
I shoveled dirt down on my mother's grave before Blake walked over and took the shovel from my hand.
"I can do it." I stated.
"I know you can." He replied, shoveling dirt into the grave.
"Why did Shane do that?" I asked.
"I'm not sure." He mumbled.
"He's such an asshole." I muttered.
"Danielle! Help!" I heard Patricia scream.
I turned my head, watching as Otis limped toward the house before falling onto his back.
I took off running as fast as I could before kneeling down by Otis.
My eyes widened as I looked at the bite on his leg.
"Give me an ax!" I yelled.
"What?" Otis asked.
"I have to cut your leg off if you want to survive." I replied.
Seconds later, I had an ax in my hand and I ordered Daryl and Blake to hold Otis down.
I took a deep breath and began chopping Otis' leg off right below the knee.
I tried to ignore his screams and the blood splattering all over me.
"I need towels!" I declared.
"When were you bit?" I asked Otis.
I pulled my shirt off and quickly put it on the stump to help try and stop the bleeding because everyone was being to slow with the towels.
I scrunched my nose up, watching as an artery blew and blood went all over my white tank top and on my arms.
"Hold the towels here." I instructed Maggie before standing up.
"Get him in the house. I need to clean the wound." I ordered.
Daryl looked to Blake who looked to me and I already knew what they were wondering.
"You can do it, you're strong guys. Get him in the house." I snapped.
-
"What did you do?" My father asked, storming into Otis' room.
"I had to cut it off before the infection spread to the rest of his body." I answered, wrapping Otis' stump with gauze.
"Has he woke up yet?" He inquired.
"Yeah, he did about ten minutes ago and then went back to sleep." I mumbled.
"Go clean up. Dinner's almost ready," He ordered.
-
I put my head in my hands, hearing the news of Otis.
Apparently his heart wasn't strong enough and couldn't take what happened.
"You did everything you could." Andrea stated, putting a hand on my back.
"Thank you for trying to save him." Patricia mumbled, tears falling out of her eyes.
I nodded and stood up from the couch.
I walked out to the RV and found Daryl inside.
I was about to say something when we heard screams from the fields.
We both ran out of the RV and ran through the field to find Dale on the ground with a walker on top of him.
Daryl killed the walker and I dropped to my knees beside Dale.
I felt tears sting my eyes as I watched blood gush out of his neck.
Dale was close with everyone, and he meant a lot to every one of us.
Soon everyone was out and surrounding him.
Andrea knelt down beside Dale and held his hand.

I climbed up on top of the RV and found Rick standing by himself.
"Hey." I muttered.
He turned around and looked at me before turning back around.
"Long day." I stated.
"Yeah." He replied.
"I noticed you weren't at dinner. There's still some left, if you're hungry." I replied.
He shook his head and sat down on a chair right when a gunshot went off.
I screamed and held my arm, feeling tears immediately fall from my eyes.
"What happened?" Daryl yelled from the porch.
Rick quickly jumped up and caught me before I fell off of the RV and helped me down the ladder.
"Where's Shane?" Rick asked as we all noticed he was the only one missing.
I began feeling light headed from panicking and realizing I had been shot.
"Danielle!" Maggie yelled before I fell to the ground.
-
I opened my eyes, finding Blake and my father in my room.
I winced, looking to my arm.
"Stay still." My father ordered.
I looked over to my right, finding Blake holding my hand.
"Shane shot at you." Blake stated.
"Shane did?" I asked.
"There's no long-term damage." My father stated, wrapping my arm with gauze.
"Don't worry, those people will be gone by morning." Blake replied.
"Get some rest." My father ordered.
Blake leaned over and pressed his lips to my forehead before leaving my room.
I looked to my door, watching as Rick walked in.
"I'm sorry that happened. It was my fault." He stated.
"No it wasn't." I replied, furrowing my eyebrows.
"Shane was aiming for me." He replied.
