Chapter 3

Lovino held an angry frown knowing his brother was right. He walked to the police headquarters, looking around the streets while he was at it. It's ironic that he was friends with a guy who worked on the opposite side but Antonio didn't know a thing. There had been multiple times where Antonio almost did find out but they managed to hide it. One of those times was even with a dead body. It kind of caused the rule of no killing in the house unless absolutely necessary.

Truth be told, he was doing this so they weren't suspected. It's was tactical and smart, well, that's what Lovino would tell himself. He hated it when his brother would tease him about it. It was strictly for business (another thing Lovino would tell himself). It was a smart thing. The idea that the richest people in town were definitely doing something illegal was suspicious. Best to make themselves look like good citizens. Technically, they were. They just had very particular ways to do it.

As he entered he was pushed over by another guy rushing in.

"What the hell!" He whined.

"Sorry, dude!" The guy apologized still running. Lovino hopped off the ground and brushed himself off just as Antonio noticed him.

"Lovi!" Antonio's flashed to the biggest grin in seconds. What a surprise!" Lovino was, once again, on the ground now with Antonio squeezing the life out of him.

"I-I c-an't b-re-at-he" He managed to choke out. Antonio immediately got off of him and helped him up. "What the hell you bastard?" Lovino breathed out.

"Sorry, I was just happy you came to visit me. You never do that" Lovino rolled his eyes at Antonio's explanations. The guy was liar. Lovino came here often just not often enough for Antonio. "Why are you here?"

"I was bored and I wanted to talk." He lied. Lying was easy. Although, it wasn't a complete lie. Sometimes he genuinely wanted to socialize.

"Well come with me!" He was then led to Antonio's office. Once there, Antonio shut the door behind where Lovino sat down and sat down himself. "So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Well..."

"Son of a-"

"Watch your language."

"Whatever," Gilbert turned his head away from Eliza. "You know I'm better than you!"

"Doubt it." Eliza smirked. Matthew giggled at their bickering. They were on a lunch break in the fairly empty cafeteria. Gilbert opened his mouth to rebuttal but ultimately shut it upon the figure that loomed over them.

"Bickering is going to get you no where." Feliciano commented. They all looked at him as he sat down next to them. "This mafia works as a team and not as individuals." He gave them a smile.

"Whatever.." Gilbert mumbled. Feliciano leaned over to him.

"I'm giving you three days to get along with everyone or you will be taken care of." He whispered. He sat up straight and smiled once again. "Well it was nice seeing you, I'll be going." With that he stood up and walked away. Gilbert swallowed hard as he watched the man walk away. He knew that the leaders were an odd pair but he didn't know how drastic their actions would be.

The other two watched him with confusion about the expression he held. He had no choice in this whatsoever.

Feliciano had been doing it for a while now. He would always do it around the time Lovino would be off somewhere for a long time. Just so Lovino wouldn't find out. Why did he do it? Well, it was a rule they both agreed to, they can't get too close with someone working for them.

They did it so it wouldn't complicate their work and get one of them killed. It took a week for him to break the rule. It was when Ludwig joined. He didn't really think about it until he actually had to talk to the guy. Slowly, he got acquainted with Ludwig. Within the long stretch of months, Ludwig also grew higher in rank, making it harder for them to talk. They ended up agreeing to meeting in a certain room that was never used. It was about once a week they would meet. If they were lucky, of course.

Feliciano arrived to the room and entered. Ludwig was already there and waiting. Feliciano smiled at Ludwig's usual stern face. Only once did he ever see a smile from the guy and it was a bit awkward.

"Ciao~! How have you been?" Feliciano greeted.

"I'm fine." Ludwig replied. Feliciano knew something was off. Usually he was given a long response. He thought for a second until he got an idea.

"You need to relax, I know all that work probably stresses you out. So I'm going to invite you to my house!" No one in the mafia has ever stepped foot in the house of the leaders. If they were, they were either being 'taken care of' or put into a very high rank. Never, had anyone step foot in that house for any other purpose. He thought best to make a special exception for Ludwig. "Next week would be good!"

Ludwig swallowed, "Yeah, I guess."

"I might even invite your brother too!"

"My brother?"

"He didn't tell you he joined the mafia?"

"He joined the mafia?"

"Not that long ago."

"I will have to talk to him."

'"Fix his massive ego while you're at it" Feliciano joked.

~

"Screw this!"

"Don't yell!"

"Fuck you!"

"How about both of you stop yelling!" Antonio cut in from a few feet away at  Alfred and Arthur fighting to put pieces of the case together. So far, they had nothing. Everything they thought they had just ended in the same dead ends. It was frustrating to say the least.

"Screw this I'm going for a drink." Alfred declared standing up.

"Like hell you are, sit back down." Arthur demanded.

"No." Alfred simply stated running away right after, almost bumping into others in the office while he was at it.

"You wank-" He half yelled before remembering what Antonio had said. Knowing Antonio, he would definitely lose his job over the stupid action. No way in hell was he risking his job. Though he wanted to know why Alfred suddenly wanted a drink. It was an odd time of day. In the end he decided to follow Alfred out of boredom and frustration. Maybe even a drink while he was at.

He was led to a bar a few blocks away. When he entered he sat in a seat Alfred wouldn't notice him. He watched as Alfred talked to the bartender. They seemed incredibly friendly. Not quite friend though. How odd.
