Imagine #7: Loki
For Leilani_hiddleston
I sat on the edge of my bed, conjuring up a little flame in my hand, a ball of water in the other. I let them mix, smiling as the two elements combined, creating a little burst of energy. My powers were something special to me; they made me, well. Me. I used them for good, trying to help out in any way I could. I was what some people called a hero, though I used the term loosley. It simply didn't seem to fit me. I wasn't a hero, I was just a good person with weird abilities.
And thankfully, some people understood I didn't want to be called a hero. One of them being my boyfriend, Loki. No one knew about this, though. Loki had come down to Earth to get away from his father, who had lied about his original heritage. As wild and crazy as nine realms exisiting was, I went with it. We became friends, and soon enough, we fell in love. He didn't want anyone to find out he was here, so I kept quiet.
Currently, Loki was at work. Sometimes he would work from a few hours to almost the whole day. I woke up alone, and most of the time, went to be alone. I didn't know where Loki worked. I didn't like the secrets; I had told him. Sometimes, I believed he was cheating on me. He denied it, and told me he loved me, so I had to go with it. I was just going around the house, doing whatever I really felt like. When he left, I didn't do much. If you thought I was busy, you'd be wrong. I was helpful to the city sometimes, but the 'Avengers' normally took over. Suddenly, the phone rang. I jumped to my feet, hoping it was Loki's daily call from work.
"Hello?" I asked cheerily.
"Hello, is Miss. Leilani present?" A monotone voice asked me. I raised an eyebrow to myself.
"Uhm, yes. Speaking."
"Hello, Miss. Leilani. This is Directory Nick Fury, head of SHIELD. Do you have a moment to speak with me?"
"Oh, uh, yeah." I answered. SHIELD? Why do they want to talk to me.
"I've called you today to speak with you about the Avengers Initiative. We've heard about you and your extrordinary powers. If you'd like, it would be a pleasure to add you to our team."
My mouth dropped, and I gasped as I threw my hand up to my mouth. "I... oh my god, I don't know what to say, sir." I said quickly, my heart racing.
"I can arrange a time for you to come to SHIELD. You can meet the rest of the team, and we discuss the matters in more detail."
"That...that would be nice, sir. Thank you so much." I smiled to myself, biting my lip in excitement. "Uhm, I'm free tomorrow around twelve?"
"Sounds perfect. See you then."
"Wait, how will I get there?" I asked quickly, groaning as the line went dead. "They'll figure it out." I mumbled, allowing myself to squeal with happiness, jumping up and down a little bit. I walked into the kitchen, beginning to prepare a celebratory dinner for Loki and I. I knew today was one of his shorter days, which just added to the list of amazing things. Just as I was finishing up the meal, I heard the front door unlock, open and shut. I turned around, a wide smile on my face as I rushed toward Loki, hugging him tightly.
"Hello, love." He mumbled into my hair, kissing my cheek. I leaned into his touch.
"Hey." I whispered, looking into his eyes. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, love." He took a moment, breathing in. "What smells so amazing?"
"I made dinner." I smirked. "I have some good news. Though I'd made a nice dinner for use in celebration."
Loki smiled, wrapping a hand around my waist. "Lets not waste any more time, shall we?"
I giggled, nodding as we walked into the dining room. I let Loki seat himself as I dished out the pasta I prepared, along with some garlic bread. We ate a little bit before Loki spoke up.
"So whats this good news?"
I smiled, sighing happily. "Well, I got a call today." I began. "Loki, SHIELD wants me to join the Avengers!" I squealed, smiling.
Loki didn't react at first, then simply smiled. "That's great, love."
I frowned, furrowing my eyebrows. "You don't seem very excited." I muttered.
"I am, darling... it's just very big news, that's all."
I sighed. "I know, Loki. Is it because of him?" I asked. Loki's eyes flashed with anger, fully aware I was addressing Thor.
He didn't answer, instead looked straight behind me. I sighed again, standing with both our plates in hand. I dumped the remains into the trash, lightly placing the plates in the sink.
"Well, I'm meeting with Director Fury tomorrow at twelve. Good night." I mumbled, kissing his cheek. I walked off to our room, falling asleep pretty quickly.
I woke up the pesky noise of my alarming clock beeping. To my surprise, and joy, Loki was asleep beside me. I smiled, reaching over and lightly stroking his cheek. His slowly opened his eyes, smiling softly.
"Morning, handsome." I cooed, scooting closer to him to cuddle my face into his chest.
"Goodmorning, Leilani." He whispered, kissing my forehead. I smiled up at him, my face dropping as I noticed the clock.
"Shit! Loki, it's almost twelve!" I screeched, flailing around as I scrambled off of the bed, flinging off my pajamas. I ran into the bathroom, quickly brushing through my hair and braiding it. I threw on a black v-neck, ripped jeans and my black Doc Martens. I smiled at Loki, who was sitting up on the bed.
"Sorry." I giggled, walking over to him. "I love you." I said gently, kissing his nose.
"I love you as well, Leilani. You look beautiful, darling."
I blushed, rolling my eyes. "You think I'm beautiful all the time, silly." I teased, grabbing my purse. I held my hand out, smiling triumphantly as I felt Lokis finger intertwine with mine. We walked out into the kitchen, my eyes locked on Loki as I sat on the island. We talked quietly until we heard a knock at the door. I looked to Loki, hopping off of the island and walking toward the door. I opened it, smiling at the man in front of me.
"Hello!" I smiled.
"Hello. You must be Leilina, am I correct?"
I nodded. "That's me. Are you here to take me to SHIELD?"
"Yes. You can come with me."
I smiled, turning around. "Bye, babe! Love you!" I called out.
------------------
The drive to SHIELD was long; longer than I expected. The windows weren't even tinted, they were completely black. But, finally, we arrived. The security was heavy, which was expected. A man led me inside, into another room. There were a few familiar faces in this room. Okay, they were all familiar but one.
There, inside the room, sat the Avengers. I walked in, my heart racing. I sat next to the only other woman in the room; Black Widow. I smiled politely, as did she.
"Hello, Miss. Leilani. Great to have you here. Welcome to SHIELD." A man said, standing from his seat.
"Thank you." I muttered nervously.
"I'm just going to be straight-to-the-point. Due to your amazing powers, we all believe you would be an amazing addition to our team. With some training, we could clean up around the rough edges, and you could transform into a strong Agent."
I smiled, looking down at my hands. "Thank you, that means a lot."
"Recently, we've heard news of a little bit of trouble involving Thors brother, Loki Laufeyson. Word is, he has a secret base located somewhere here in New York. We need as much help as we can get."
My mind went blank. Loki? Loki was plotting against us? No, that couldn't be true. This wasn't my Loki.
Oh, but it was. Stuttering, I replied,
"Of course, I understand. I'll have to think about it, first. Do you mind if I have a day?"
I crossed my fingers under the table, praying he'd accept. He nodded. I let out a sigh of relief. They explained his occurrence at Stuttgart, and for another hour or so, we discussed plans if I agreed to join. Before, it was a definite yes. Now? I wasn't sure. Loki was evil? I couldn't believe it. He was nothing but kind, sweet and gentle. I couldn't imagine Loki, the one who told me Asgardian bed time stories when I couldn't sleep, being evil.
Soon enough, I was permitted to go home, the only thing on my mind being Loki. I finally arrived home, thanking my driver. I opened the door slowly, my fingers shaking.
"Loki?" I called out quietly. I walked inside, setting my keys on their hook. I found Loki in our shared library, his feet resting on the coffee table. I cleared my throat, smirking.
"No feet on the table, Loki." I sang, sitting next to him on the leather love seat.
He chuckled, wrapping an arm around me, kissing my temple.
"So." I began. "I talked with Director Fury. He asked me to join the Avengers." I said, trying to figure out a way to subtle approach this. I sighed, running a finger through Loki's knotted hair. "Loki..." I whispered.
"Yes, love?"
"You'd never lie to me, right? You wouldn't keep any serious secrets? You'd never hurt me?" I asked, twirling a lock of his black hair between my fingers.
"Of course not, darling. What has caused you to ask such things?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing with concern.
I cleared my throat nervously, swallowing the forming lump. "I...I was informed that, uhm. That you were plotting against the Avengers and, that... that you attempted to rule over people in Stuttgart. Is that true?" I choked on my words, tears stinging my eyes. I bit my lip, anticipating his reaction.
He sighed, intertwining his fingers with mine. "I'm sorry." He said simply, confirming my fears.
Tears leaked from my eyes, blurring my vision. "Why wouldn't you tell me?" I sobbed, shaking my head in disbelief. "I don't want to join if I have to fight against you, Loki... but what you're doing isn't right. I... what do you expect me to do?" I exclaimed, my words jumbled due to my crying. I collapsed, holding my head in my hands as I cried loudly. My body shook with each sob, my mind racing. I felt a cool hand on my shoulder. I leaned into his chest, continuing with my crying.
"How could you? Why wouldn't you tell me? I could've... I could've helped, Loki. I love you, you know I could've done something." I mumbled, gripping his t-shirt.
"Love, I'm sorry. I... dear Odin, I'm sorry love. I don't know what to say."
"Will you stop this? Whatever this is? I can't... God, Loki." I sighed with exasperation. I looked him in the eyes, cupping his face. "Loki. If you're truly sorry, if you truly love me, you'll end this... whatever this is." I mumbled.
Loki closed his eyes, nodding softly. A tear dripped down his porcelain cheek. I smile softly, kissing it away.
"I still love you." I whispered in his ear, giving him a tight hug.
"I love you as well, darling." He whispered. "My little hero."
