20 - The Mother

I sat in the front seat of Asher's car. Jesse's in the back. We're both anxious.  My leg is pumping up and down like a race house. Jesse's fingers are tapping like they're the car's engine.

"Would you both just take a deep breath, you're giving me the creeps," Asher says.

I shake my head, "you don't understand!"

That's when the texts start flowing in. One after the other. I have to turn on the vibrate it's so annoying, but that doesn't help either.

"Jesse, throw your phone out the window, it's the only way they won't be able to track us," I demand as I throw mine. He follows suit without question.

"Charlie, how do you know it's really her," Jesse asks nervous.

"A woman came up to me and gave me a letter when I was out," I say just over a whisper.

Be rolls his eyes. "Well would you articulate please? That's not very reassuring!"

"It was our Uncle Carter's suicide note. It was addressed to me."

"And you thought it was a good idea to hide this from us," Asher yells.

"It was addressed to me," I shot back. We pull into a gas station. "This is where they told me to meet them. Thank you Asher for driving us out here."

"I'm not leaving till they pick you up."

"Asher, don't tell me your phone doesn't have a tracker in it too. It'll be better if you leave and hide for a bit. I can defend myself." He rolls his eyes. "Don't think I won't drop kick your ass."

Jesse and I get out if the car. Asher steps out, but doesn't make it far becuase he's knocked to the ground.

I run over to the other side of the car and bend down next to him. A woman with blonde hair is looking down at me.

"Hello, Charlie."
