17 - The Gun.
It had been a couple of months. My knee has finally healed after physical therapy, checkups, and crunches.
I've gotten a lot closer to my brother and Sebastian, but not my dad. He's gone all the time and I haven't talked to him in a while.
I'm walking down the street about to turn the corner to get some takeout when I see a man holding a gun to another man's head.
I could recognize that man anywhere. The hair, the frame, the posture. It's Asher.
The trigger is pulled and Asher slings the body over his shoulder. I can't move, I'm too in shock, and he sees me.
Adrenaline runs through my vains as I sprint away.
"Charlie? Charlie! Get back here," Asher yells.
I keep running away and back to my house. I slam through the door and into the foyer.
Asher comes in after me. "Please, listen to me."
"No. I saw enough, I don't have to listen."
He grabs my arms. I knee him in the groin, thankfully hard enough to distract him and grab his gun.
I took too long, and he grabbed my arms again. This time I punched him in the face.
I back away with the gun. "Don't even try."
"You won't shot me, I know you won't."
That's when Sebastain and my dad walk in.
"Great, join the party," I say.
"Charlie, put the gun down before you regret something," Sebastain says.
"It's not my gun. I don't know, how about you ask Asher where he got it? Why he used it? I can't believe you. Why?"
"It's my job," Asher answers.
"You killed that man, and you didn't think twice."
"I work for your dad."
It goes silent. My jaw is probably on the floor. I swallow, still not sure what to say.
I put the gun down and turn on the safety. "I could never date a guy that keeps the safety off."
I set the gun down on the floor and run up the stairs and into my room.
I look into my mirror and realize what I just did. I just broke up with Asher.
