The metal door suddenly bulged, making me jump up from the bed. "Where the shuck are you?!" Someone screamed from outside. Shit, what's going on out there?
I kept quiet, not wanting to get involved in whatever's happening. "Minho," I heard someone say, the rest of his words were muffled by the door.
A few seconds later, loud footsteps sounded from outside, before everything became quiet.
I jumped up from the bed one more time, when the alarms started to go off. An emergency. I wonder if it's connected to what I just heard.
I approached the door and tried to open it, but it was locked from the outside. "What the hell is going on out there?" I whispered to myself.
I gave up on trying to open the door and sat back down on the bed. A name suddenly popped into my head. The name of whoever was banging on the door earlier.
Minho.
I closed my eyes, it's so blurry, but when I think of this name, I feel so many kind of things.
The door opened, my head quickly turning to see who it was. My mother barged into the room, a silent scowl on her face. "What's wrong?" I asked. "They escaped." She said, and of course I knew who did.
"From the Maze? But isn't that a good thing? They've finished Phase One." I said, puzzled by her anger. "You don't remember, but Phase One is finished. They've escaped us!" She angrily said, before pulling me up from the bed. "Let's go. We have to find them." Confused as fuck, I followed her out.
We entered a big aircraft, designed to take many people at once.
"Where are we going to find them?" I asked, settling down on one of the seats. "Anywhere, everywhere." My mother answered, sitting down beside me.
Minho's POV 💯
"It's so dark in here." Frypan commented as we walked through the ruins of what used to be a refuge of some sort. I wanted to come up with some sarcastic remark, just to make things lighter for everyone, but I just can't. Nothing's going through my mind but Nicole.
"Thomas, stop." I hear Teresa say. "Tell me what's going on." She demanded.
Then Thomas told us.
The bodies, WCKD, everything.
"What's the plan now?" Newt asked, obviously scared. Thomas shook his head, as if he's thinking of what to say. "There's a resistance." Eris said. "The Right Arm. They're against WCKD and they can help us." He continued. We all looked at each other, and silently agreed to go there.
"Minho," Teresa said, adjusting her pace to walk beside me. "What?" I asked, not really feeling to talk to anyone. "Um," She awkwardly started. "I wasn't very close with Nicole, but I see how she cares for you so much. I see it in the way she looks at you, the way she acts around you." She said, trying to make me feel better. I like how she used present tense, it's like she's telling me that she believes I'll see her again. "Thanks." Was all I could manage to say.
Somehow, knowing that Janson is with WCKD seems to calm me down. She's Ava's daughter, they won't kill her.
Thomas and I walked around the place, realizing that people used to live down here. "They had power." I said, touching a lamp that was connected to a bunch of wires. We followed the wires to a generator. "I think I can.." I murmured, kneeling down on the ground beside the machine. I flipped a few switches, and the generator started to run.
"No Minho...wait!" Thomas shouted. I stood up, a smile on my face as I watched the place light up. My eyes widened as I spotted something running towards Thomas. "Behind you!" I shouted. Thomas quickly moved away from the grills.
A shriek filled the air, and several of those things started to show up. "We have to get out of here!" Thomas said before we ran full speed back towards the others.
When we reached them, they seem confused as to what was going on. "Run! Go!" I shouted, my feet running at an incredible speed.
We kept running until we reached a hallway, honestly I think it's a stupid decision but were out of places to go. I tried to open the doors we passed, but all of them were locked. I ran to the final door and started to kick it down.
"I'll distract them, just open the door!" Winston said, shooting at the cranks running towards us. Thomas helped me kick down the door, and once we did, everyone ran inside.
"Hurry!" I exclaimed, standing beside the door. Winston was the last to run inside, but his feet got pulled by one of the cranks. "Shuck!" Thomas hissed and started to pull Winston inside. Everyone helped pull him in. Winston screamed in pain as the cranks buried their nails onto his skin. When we finally pulled him inside, Thomas and I held the door in place.
"Go!" Thomas said, motioning for me to run. I closed my eyes in frustration before speeding down the same direction the others did, Thomas following behind me. We ran down the ruins and hid under a large rock, away from the cranks' view.
After a few minutes, the cranks started to disperse, and we can finally breathe properly.
"Minho, is that...?" Frypan said, looking far out. "What?" I said, trying to find what he's looking at. A few seconds later, two figures started to emerge from the darkness.
"Help!" A voice shouted. As they got closer, I made out Terrence's face. I quickly ran towards him, and I've never been happier. He was holding Nicole beside him, and I quickly got her off of him. Her eyes were half closed, and she seemed so weak. Her skin was cold and pale, and I was so scared.
I carried her and ran towards the others, who were also surprised when they saw Nicole and Terrence.
"You got out of the maze?" Thomas asked him. He shook his head. "They got us out." He said, trying to catch his breath. "You probably know this by now, but you were never really safe."
I knelt down, letting Nicole lay on me. "What's wrong with her?!" I panicked, not knowing what to do with Nicole. Terrence closed his eyes and gulped.
"We escaped, but no one is safe from Ava." He said. "She's ready to kill even her own daughter." He whispered.
