Morning hit, and I instantly got excited. Today is the day! I don't really know why I wanna be a runner so much, but something inside me just keeps pushing me to do so.
I changed into clothes that I seemed appropriate for running, and got out of the room. It was still early, earlier than when the runners wake up. I ran to Minho's room, standing infront of the door. I decided to just come in, incase he's still sleeping.
"Minho..." I whispered. And I was right, he is still asleep. He layed on his stomach, his face planted sideways on a pillow. His hair messily covered his forehead, some sticking out in random directions. I found myself staring at him for too long, until someone tapped me from behind. "Gahh!" I accidentally screamed and turned around, probably waking up Minho. I quickly shut the door and faced the suspect. Newt.
He stood there, crutches on both sides of his body, with a smile on his face. "What in bloody hell are you doing?" He asked. "Oh-uh, I'm running today. Just checked if he's already awake." He frowned. "You're running?" "Yeah..." "Just be bloody careful, alright?" I nodded my head and got closer to hug him. "I'm so glad you're okay." I whispered. He wrapped an arm around me too. "Thank you."
We both pulled away and he started walking, using his crutches as support. "I'll see you later, goodluck." I nodded and turned around to face Minho's door. Wonder if I woke him up.
I opened the shucking door just a little bit- "What do you think you're doing?" His voice still had sleep in it and he has his shirt off, god he's hot. "I'm just excited for today is all. Sorry." I was about to close the door when he held it open. "Come in." I obliged and closed the door behind me.
"Nicole. When in the maze, remember: Never stop running, and don't look back. Got it?" I scanned his face for any signs of laughter, but he's all serious-y today. "Yeah, yeah." "Don't 'yeah, yeah' me, shuckface." He pulled on his backpack, locking the straps on the front. "If you die out there, its on me, and I don't want that." He glared at me. "Got it?" "Got it."
His eyes flicked down to my wrist, his forehead wrinkling again. "Don't wear that." "Why?" "Just don't wear it." I figured it would be best to follow him since he's the one who decides if I get to be a runner. I struggled with the lock of the bracelet, not even getting close to removing it. A hand suddenly grabbed mine, removing the silver bracelet effortlessly. "Don't wear that again."
"Why are you so serious today? No sarcastic remarks or anything?" I chuckled, walking around his room. "What, do you think I'm shucking sarcastic all the time? Huh shuckface?" He approached me, holding something like the one he's wearing across his upper chest. "Wear this, to uh, support those when you...run." "Support what?" I took the weird thing out of his hand, and started to wear it. It had a strap under my breasts-ohhhh. "Support that."
I locked the straps in front, but forgot to lock the ones in the back before I wore them. I sighed and started to remove it again when Minho stopped me. "I'll do it." He turned me around and started tightening and locking the straps on my back. "Thanks." What is with him today?
We got out of his room, running towards the maze doors that were slowly opening. Ben caught up with us on the way. "Hey." He greeted. I replied with a smile, I couldn't quite talk right now, I'm so shucking nervous! "Nicole, remember what I said awhile ago." I also just nodded in response.
Once we entered the maze, we all started to run, following where Minho leads us. "You tired yet, shuckface?" "Seriously? We just started. Shut up." We ran and ran, surprisingly, I could keep up to their paces. Minho occassionally turns his head to look at me, and honestly it just ticks me off. "Can you stop looking at me like I'm gonna get lost every minute?" "I'm grading you shank."
Ben stifled a laugh. "What?" Minho and I asked simultaneously. "Are you two together or something?" He asked, gesturing to the both of us. "No." We said again. Ben just shrugged and kept on running.
We reached a place with a left and right turning point. "Ben, we have to cover more ground." Ben nodded and ran to the right path. I followed Minho to the left. "Minho, what's up with you today?" I asked, running alongside him. "Nothing." "Minho-" "Nothing, just keep running."
For the rest of the day, I didn't say a single word. Minho and I met Ben from where we parted ways, and ran back to the Glade just in time.
Everyone was preparing, Gally was mixing something up, Frypan's food could be smelled up until here, and the others were starting a fire. "What's happening?" I asked Terrence, who stood right beside me. "A little party, I guess?"
"This is gonna be fun!" Chuck exclaimed, standing beside me with a hand on his waist. Such a cute kid. "Yeah, come on."
We sat around the fire, with Newt on my left and Terrence on my right. I don't know why Terrence keeps following me around but I do sense his likeness towards me. Minho sat parallel from me beside Alby. Why do you care where he sits?
I shook off my thoughts and just enjoyed the fire. Newt handed me a mysterious liquid inside a jar. "Try it." "What's that?" I inspected the liquid, looks like diluted poop. "Something they mixed up. Come on, just a sip." I took the jar from his hand and put it to my mouth, inching it up to get the liquid to flow. Once the taste hit my tongue, I quickly handed Newt the drink back. "Eugh, how do you even drink that!" Newt chuckled then reached for Terrence. "Wanna try?" "Don't try it, don't try it. Don't." I said with a small laugh. Terrence shook his head and took the jar. "Here goes..." He muttered then downed the drink, finishing it in one gulp. "Terrence!" I shrieked. "You don't even know what's in there." I laughed, hitting him on the arm. "Bloody hell, that's what you call a man. Learn from him, Nicole."
Out of nowhere, I felt someone glaring at me. I just kind of already know who it is. I looked up and met Minho's gaze, he glared at me with cold eyes and a neutral face. He's been like that all day, what the shuck is wrong with him?
I felt a tap on my right shoulder, turning around to face Terrence. "I finished your room today." He smiled. "Oh, you're a builder? Thanks." "Yeah, found it the job I'm most comfortable with in the Glade." He gazed down at my hands. He took my wrist and pulled it up. I softly tried to pull my hand away but he insisted. "You're not wearing the bracelet." "Yeah, I can't while running." "Too bad, it looked really beau--"
"Hey greenie." A familiar voice intervened. "Let go of her hand."

Nicole is a nice girl, she's not bipolar. 😂 She just becomes a bitch when she's mad. Terrence is kind of a flirty guy, not afraid to be upfront.
Thanks for the 40 reads! 💕
