Chapter 36
Tobias' POV
Her skin is soft as I run my thumb across the top her hand. I can feel the heat it gives off, reminding me that she is here and safe again. My anger is pushed aside by relief and love and longing; though I know the argument will arise eventually.
Tris stops at Zeke and Shauna's and knocks a couple times before the door is opened swiftly by Shauna. Teigon is asleep in her arms and I can't stop the small grin that grows on my face.
"Hey Shauna." Tris says with a small smile, and Shauna smiles back with tears in her eyes, threatening to spill.
She hands Teigon to me and hugs tris. While they hug, I look down at Teigon and a tear slips down my cheek before I knew I was tearing up. He's calm, peaceful, nothing like the factions right now. He has no idea what's going on, and I envy that innocence.
But that's what it's like to be Dauntless. We are trained to protect and show up at these situations. We are dauntless for those reasons. We are who people look for when in danger. We serve a purpose, and the innocence that Teigon has -the peace he has- will be replaced with knowledge and understanding of danger. And he will become a soldier. Like his father; his mother. And he will carry that through any faction he chooses in the future.
Because behind that soft exterior, lies a warrior.

I know I take forever, literally me being a lazy ass and not updating when I can. But today is science I got super bored and has an idea on how to start this chapter so there you go, lol.
