"Uhm, do you mind turning around?"
Stevie looked up at Ashton who had a bunch of clothes in his hand. She looked at him up and down before realizing why he was asking her to turn around: he wanted to get changed.
"Yeah. Sorry." Stevie said to him and turned around. There was a shirt that was on the bed and Stevie ended up picking it up. It smelt like... Beer and alcohol.
For some reason she felt the urge to smell it and so she did. She felt really embarrassed by it and dropped it back down.
"I think that's Luke shirt." Stevie heard the voice from behind her say.
"Oh?" She said turning around to face a shirtless Ashton. Her eyes widened and she saw how toned his body was. She swore her mouth was hitting the ground and her cheeks were beat red. They turned even more red when she realized he was only wearing his boxers as well. She really did have terrible timing and bad luck.
"Stevie?" Ashton laughed at her face.
"Uh sorry." Stevie said and turned back around to face the wall. She scrunched her eyes today, mentally cursing to herself for being so hormonal. But it wasn't her fault that Ashton had a nice body- it was his.
She realized how stupid that sounded luckily she hasn't said it aloud.
"I'm all good now." Ashton told her letting out a small chuckle.
Of course you are, Stevie thought to herself.
"So who's first on your list?" Ashton asked sitting on his bed and patting his hand next to him signalling for Stevie to join him.
"Pardon?" She asked him completely confused on what he was talking about.
"For people you're going to see..." He clarified.
"Oh! Sorry, my bad." Stevie blushed, what else could he have been talking about. She really made a fool of herself around him.
Luke's question floated back into her mind: Did she like Ashton? Could she like Ashton? She sort of liked Luke. But he didn't return the same feelings for her. He hadn't made any effort. Ashton on the other hand had her number and they were going to hang out. Did he like her? Maybe he just wanted more friends, everyone wants more friends.
"The Killers are on at 7 and Lana's on at 5, so I really don't have anyone to see until then. Are you sure you really want to be dragged along to these?" She was weary that Ashton really knew what he was getting himself into. The Killers were a great band and anyone would like them but Lana on the other hand was more selective. She had a certain style and you had to be open to that to like her. Riley really loved Lana and that's where they had planned to meet up today.
"Positive." Ashton smiled at her. "Do you mind watching a few acts with me until yours begin?" He was nervous and Stevie couldn't pinpoint why.
"Sounds great." Stevie nodded at him. "Who's first?" She joked using the same words he used barely a few minutes ago.
"It's a secret."
"It's really not, I could just check my phone." Stevie replied to him pulling it out. She had downloaded the official app that had all the acts and their times shown.
At that exact moment Ashton lunged for it and tried to wrestle it out of Stevie's hands. He wasn't getting anywhere and decided that the best way would be to tickle her.
That would be Stevie's downfall. She was very ticklish and she laughed uncontrollably as she tried to wiggle away from him.
"Ashto-" She let out a few laughs. "Ashton stop." She could barely breathe.
"Please Asht-"
The door abruptly opened and there stood a furious looking Luke. Ashton immediately jumped off of Stevie and the gap between them on the bed was awkwardly large. Stevie sat up and adjusted her shirt that had ridden up in the midst of being tickled before looking up at Luke.
"I think I left my shirt in here." Luke stated, a frown still on his face. He walked over to the chair in the corner of his room and pulled up the pillows looking for it.
"Mate." Ashton said, holding up Luke's shirt which in fact was the one from earlier that Stevie picked up and smelt.
Luke didn't say anything else. He walked towards the door and grabbed the handle, but before he closed it he looked straight at Ashton and then at Stevie. His eyes softened when they met hers. Nevertheless she gave him a pity smile, not sure of what he expected her to do after he deserted her last night. He then looked at the ground, turned and shut the door. It wasn't a loud violent sound like Stevie had expected. It was so soft that she swore she heard it click.
"I don't know what's up with him." Ashton remarked. "He's just been a bit odd in general lately."
"Yeah?" Stevie wondered.
"I think he's home sick."
"Then why doesn't he just go back?" Stevie asked Ashton trying to sound the furthest from rude.
"It's complicated." Ashton shrugged and Stevie knew that was her cue not to push it.
"Well anyways are you ready for an adventure?" Ashton wiggled his eyes at Stevie.
"Most definitely."
-
"Blondie. Really?"
"Yeah. She's amazing." Ashton laughed, he scratched the back of his neck unsure if it was a good idea to take Stevie to see her.
"You just don't strike me as an old school guy." Stevie remarked adjusting her sunglasses and she moved to the beat.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He laughed but Stevie could tell he was a bit offended by her words.
"Nothing sorry." She backtracked wishing she hadn't said anything.
"You're one of a kind." Ashton turned to her as he began to move closer to her.
What was he going to do? Stevie felt very uneasy. Was he going to make a move? She didn't feel to ecstatic if he was and that wasn't a good sign.
"Ashton!" A new voice interrupted the moment.
Both of their heads turned to address the voice. A boy with bright neon blue hair approached them. When he reached Ashton he gave him a small pat on the back before turning to face Stevie. He didn't say anything for a few moments as he eyes wandered up and down Stevie's body, making her feel a bit uncomfortable. Ashton noticed what his friend was going and whacked him in the back of the head.
"Ow, mate." The blue haired boy groaned.
"Mike, this is Stevie. Stevie this is Michael." Ashton introduced them.
"Oh so you're Stevie." Michael said.
Stevie was getting confused as to why this was the second time in one day that someone had said that to her. She wasn't anything special and she would be completely astonished if anyone talked about her.
"Yep. That's me." Stevie lagged awkwardly.
"Well you definitely are beautiful." Michael openly admitted.
Now Stevie was bright red, even brighter than his hair if that was possible. She brushed a few strands of her dark hair away from her face and didn't have much time to reply before more voice decided to join into the conversation.
"Yo!" The boy Calum shouted jogging up to the group. Stevie noticed how nice his arms looked in his muscle tank. She wondered why all got boys were friends with each other. Right behind Calum she saw another figure, one who unlike all the other boys had on the same black hoodie from the day before and ripped skinny jeans: black ones.
He approached the rest of the group and nodded at each of them without say a word. However he never looked at Stevie.
"I thought we'd find you here. Calum thought you'd be at Nickelback but I reminded him that you'd never take a girl there." Michael spoke up laughing whilst looking at Calum.
Ashton turned to Stevie and shook his head as if he was brushing off all the subtle hints Michael had just made. He then turned back to his friends. "I totally would. I just wanted to see Blondie." Ashton argued and for the first time in a while Stevie saw Luke's eyes light up.
"Yeah alright, whatever man." Michael remarked.
"I'm going to go get some food." Stevie suggested as it was obvious Ashton's friends wanted to talk to him about a few things. "Do any of you want anything?"
"Yeah, actually I'll have a large popcorn and a hot dog too. Yeah that'd be good and a medium Diet Coke- actually make it a large, it's Diet so that's OK." Michael told her as he reached into his pocket and handed Stevie a couple of crumpled bills.
Ashton and Calum both shook their heads in embarrassments. They were unsure of what to do. Michael was dead serious about all the food he ordered.
"Alright. I'll be back in a few."
"I'll come with you." Luke voice said that shocked Stevie. She wanted to protest but doubted it would do any good. Why all of a sudden now did Luke want to hang out with her? Or maybe he just really wanted some food.
