New Beginings New Feelings
"I can stay here tonight, but that flat is my home" Samantha stated releasing Tigger from his carrier as he scuttled out exploring. "I'll set you up in this building" Norman said taking her bags into the spare room "its still my home" Samantha muttered quietly causing Norman to turn and face her "you aint living in no shit hole you hear?!" He seethed, Samantha pushed past him "you didnt mind fucking me in it!" She yelled and slammed the door behind her to her room for the night, she expected him to follow her in and argue more but he didnt.
"You wanna eat?" Norman asked knocking on her door "no thankyou" Samantha snapped from the other side, the door swinging open made her jump as she sat on the bed folding her clothes "look, im sorry for what I said but id rather you are here, or at least in this building, I dont want you to worry about eviction letters or assholes outside your door" he said trying to reason with her. Samantha exhaled fed up "is this even going to work, I mean I feel like you are looking down your nose at me" she sighed, Norman rushed to sit next to her "no of course i'm not, I just, I just want to be part of this babies life, I want to be there through it all, with my ex I see my son every other weekend of sometimes longer if im working" Norman explained saddened "i'll sell my flat at some point, but I think until we know everything is okay and ive told Fiona I should keep it. Im only what 8 weeks? Its still a dangerous time, if something happens what will I do with no home? You wont put me up" Samantha explained taking his hand in hers, he nodded as he understood her words "fine, after 12 weeks we will sort something out" Norman stated.
-- 4 weeks later--
Samantha heard Norman's horn outside as she applied lip gloss in her bathroom mirror, it was her 12 week scan, the day they had both been waiting for, her flat was mostly boxed up and ready to move into an apartment Norman had got her in his block, she felt sad to leave this place it was her first home but it wasnt a place to raise a child and the week before, the flat opposite her had been broken into which gave her the push she needed to leave. Checking her phone she saw a message from Fiona
Let me know as soon as you get out please! I cant wait to hear from you!! Love you xxxx
Fiona had been so supportive when Samantha told her she was pregnant and she didnt flip out when she told her who the father was, instead she swore her secret was safe with her.
Getting into Norman's car it was obvious he was just as excited as she was to see their baby on the screen, "lets do this" he said high fiving her as she closed the car door and drove to the hospital.
"This jelly will be cold" the nurse explained to Samantha as she squirted it onto her stomach, Samantha breathed in deep as she felt the coldness on her "lets see your baby shall we?" The nurse suggested moving the scanner across her stomach, Samantha held her hand out to Norman to hold as their baby showed up on the screen. "Wow" she whispered as she studied her unborn child. "Really is something huh?" Norman said to himself sounding choked, he too staring in awe at the screen.
"I cant believe thats our baby" Samantha said as she stroked the sonogram photo sitting in the car on the way back to Norman's. "Here are your keys" he said handing her two silver keys "you are opposite my place" he added, taking the keys Samantha smiled and thanked Norman with a kiss on the cheek. "No problem" he replied hiding his blushing and stepping out the car. "Come on, i'll show you inside" he offered his arm for her to link.
Samantha was amazed when she stepped inside, the living room/kitchen area was a dusty pink, all with white appliances, half of them Samantha would look at in shop windows and debate on paying rent or having a luxurious coffee maker that month "the bedroom is through there and the bathroom at the end of the hall." Norman pointed out to Samantha as she went to look around "Norman I love it!" She exclaimed as she walked down the hallway. "You weren't lying about setting us up were you?" She teased playfully nudging his arm to which he smiled and raised his eyebrows up and down.
"I'll leave you to set up, I'm going out tonight I'll be back later on" Norman said waving goodbye before Samantha stopped him opening the door "where are you going?" She questioned "Just a few drinks with Andy and the guys from set" he explained and Samantha backed up slightly, she had no right really to question his social life "sorry, i came off like a bunny boiler then" she quickly apologised making Norman chuckle "suppose further down the line we will have to keep tabs on eachother so we know where we are when the baby comes" Norman said justifying what she said. "I'll give you a knock when I get back, can always watch a movie?" He suggested before standing awkwardly in the door before smiling faintly and leaving.
Tigger purred and rolled around in his new surroundings as Samantha unpacked the last of her clothes. Her phone began ringing and she looked to see it was Fiona
"Hey Fi" Samantha greeted
"How is the new digs? And how did the scan go?" Fiona asked, it was obvious she was smoking as Samantha could hear her voice change when she had a mouthful of smoke
"Yea it went really well, baby is developing as normal, its so real now! And the apartment is gorgeous I cant wait for you to see it!" Samantha squealed down the phone
"You are right under his radar now hun, make sure he doesnt start telling you what to wear or what to do" Fiona shared her concern, Samantha stayed silent and rolled her eyes at her friend "he has the power you know, he buys you everything you want and need as long as you keep his secret that he cant keep it in his pants" Fiona added
"Its not like that" Samantha reasoned
"Im just looking out for you babe, and if it goes wrong you come to me okay?" Fiona made her friend promise before hanging up the phone.
Hitting 9:30 Samantha felt herself becoming more tired as she laid on the sofa watching re runs of Friends, yawning she decided it was time for bed and it definitely meant Norman wouldnt be knocking for her when he got back!
Brushing her teeth she felt a weird sensation between her legs, dropping the toothbrush in shock as she saw a large blood patch soaking through her jeans. "Oh my god!" She cried, she frantically ran to her phone and called Norman
"Samantha?" He answered, wherever he was the music was really loud and full of base she could hardly hear him
"Norman! Im bleeding!! What do I do?"
"What?! Bleeding?! Sam stay there I'll be right back!!" Norman yelled down the phone to make sure she could hear him
Within ten minutes Norman came bursting through the door seeing Samantha in tears holding a bloodied towel between her legs "im so scared Norman" she cried as he scooped her up and took her to the bed and quickly dialled for a doctor.
"Miss Carter is going to be fine, just some bleeding, her body is going through a lot of changes and sometimes the cervix can trigger some bleeding but you did the right thing phoning me, its always best to be seem as soon as possible should you get any bleeding throughout" the doctor told Norman as she removed her gloves "your wife is going to be fine" she smiled nodding to them both as she left "just rest, plenty of it" she called out shutting the door behind her.
Norman exhaled in relief rubbing his hands over his face and across his hair "glad you are okay" he said "thanks for coming back, Sorry I ruined your night" she sighed saddened "you didnt ruin it, I told im here for you" He said sitting next to her on the bed, Samantha looked to him as he spoke "er, for both of you!" He quickly corrected himself giving her a nervous smile. "Well like she said, get some rest, ill see you in the morning" Norman whispered leaning into kiss her cheek but hesitated and stood up to leave instead. Samantha sat up on the bed and loosened the covers calling him back "will you stay in here tonight? Im still a bit scared." She asked looking down. Without a second thought Norman removed his jacket and kicked off his shoes before climbing across the bed and lying next to her.
