Valentine's Day
[A/N: HAPPY DEPRESSING-DAY-FOR-SINGLE-PEOPLE DAY!!! lol nahhh jk. BUT IF YOU'RE SINGLE AND HAVING A SAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY BY YOURSELF, I HOPE THIS MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER EVEN THOUGH THESE ARE DUSTY AF. enjoyyy~]
Luke
The moment you woke up for school and realized it was Valentine's Day, you slammed down on your alarm and threw your blankets over your head, letting out a loud groan.
It was Valentine's Day... and you were still single.
I mean, it's no big deal, right? You'd tell yourself every year. Who needs a boyfriend anyway?
But after so many years of going to school and seeing almost every girl engulfed in gifts and tons of candy and gigantic teddy bears, you were sick of it and wanted something like that too.
You trudged out of bed, getting yourself ready for this whack of the day that had to come on this horrible Tuesday morning.
"Why can't we have a leap year on Valentine's Day?" you mumbled. "Then I'd only have to worry about it every four years,"
As you complained the whole way through the process of getting ready, you finally finished your outfit and preparations for the day.
You called one of your friends to pick you up and stood outside, and waited, like you did almost every morning. When the familiar car appeared after a few minutes, you ran off your porch and hopped inside.
"Hey, Lucas," you smirked, knowing how much his real name irked him.
"Hey, y/n..." he giggled. "I wish you would quit calling me that,"
"Fine, fine."
You fastened your seat belt and Luke took off to your high school. You sat back in his leather seats, pulling the lever on the side to make it lean back farther. He switched gazes between the road and you, his hand still on the steering wheel.
"What's wrong, ma?"
You looked at him, grinning. "I know you just didn't call me 'ma'... you know how much I hate that," you lied.
For some reason, the major key was to pretend like you hated when he called you that, just so he could keep calling you that.
"Well you called me 'Lucas' so I guess we're even," he smiled at you, his right dimple visibly showing.
You half smiled back, then it faded as you went back to the facial expression you had before.
"y/n, tell me what's wrong, please,"
"It's just another Valentine's Day that I'm gonna spend in misery," you sighed. "every girl at school has someone; they're going to be bundled with gifts and love, and most of all, a boyfriend. That just so happens to be something that I don't have,"
As you ended your rant, Luke parked in his reserved parking space, cut of the engine, took the keys out of ignition, sat back in his chair and looked at you.
"You don't need a boyfriend," he said in the eery silence.
"And why is that?"
"Because no guy up here is good enough for you, that's why."
You rolled your eyes. "But everyone else---"
"Don't worry about everyone else. You're you, y/n, and it takes a real man to love you just how you are," he advised, "now come on, we're gonna be late."
As he got out, you smiled. "Hey, Lucas!"
He leant down, peering at you through his open door as his hand lied on top of the car, and his eyebrows raised. "Hm?"
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it, y/n. I'm just doing my job," he smiled.
In conclusion, the two of you walked inside your school together, ready for what was to come.
***
Everything went how it was expected to go. You walked down the packed hallways, occasionally getting stuck behind girls, with more gifts than they could handle, who could hardly walk with all their gifts in their hands.
Who cares? It's not like they're going to be together forever. All this stuff is just temporary anyway. You thought to yourself, rolling your eyes.
You weren't the one to sound problematic and whiney, but you just couldn't take it. It would be nice to not care... but there was just one thing that was keeping you from that point.
Luke.
You've liked him for awhile now, and you always felt a vibe that he liked you too; the more you saw him and hung out with him, the more you wanted him. And this is why, this year of all years, that you hated Valentine's Day the most.
As you carried on down the hallway, a crowd formed. You pushed your way through, knowing that it was just some stupid Valentine's Day proposal.
That's when the crowd circled around you. You looked around, confused and concerned as to why people were cheering and holding a look of awe. Everyone's eyes were on you as you stood in the empty middle. That's when cheering was heard from the farther end of the crowd as they formed out a pathway. Down the aisle came Luke, holding a life-size teddy bear, a bouquet of red roses and a large, heart-shaped box of chocolates. He came closer, his blue eyes engaged with yours, wearing that adorable smile of his.
"Um...y/n," he began blushing, "I-I've been crazy about you ever since I met you. I just... I didn't know if you were looking for anyone---or most of all, I didn't think you felt the same; but I mean, I think the feelings are mutual between us,"
You bit your lip, smiling like crazy. He was the cutest when he was flustered, and here he was, flustered over you.
"And this is why I want you to have this," he handed you everything he had spent his hard, earned money on.
"Thank you, Luke..." you gushed.
"That's not all," he smiled, cupping your chin. He quickly licked his lips before kissing you sweetly.
People around you began to clap and cheer for the two of you. Nothing could explain the happiness you were feeling. You were definitely going to mark this day as the best Valentine's Day you've ever experienced.
Calum
It was just another day spent alone, since your beloved boyfriend, Calum, was on tour. (Ik 5sos may never go on a tour Valentine's Day ever but shhh)
It was just the same old late night calls and another text. (lol if u get it ily. okay bye fr) He wanted to be there with you as much as you wanted him to, but you couldn't take him away from his friends, his career, and fans just for a petty day like this. I mean, it sounds nice and all, but Calum has business he needed to take care of, and as usual, you were understanding about it.
You changed into some comfortable clothes and slid under your blankets, turning on your tv. You decided instead of watching some sappy romantic movies, you'd just watch cartoons instead. That's what you and Calum always watched when he'd cuddle with you anyway.
You turned on Spongebob, which was going to be on all day since it was having a marathon. You snuggled into your pillow and watched it in silence.
Damn... I wish he was here.
You just had to face it; it wasn't the same.
That's when your doorbell rang. You turned off the television and sprung up from bed and darted to the door.
"Who is it?" you questioned boldly before you opened the door.
"Um... the limo driver?" a puzzled voice was heard behind your door.
You raised an eyebrow, then proceeded on to opening the door.
"Calum, you play too much!---oh. You really are a limo driver," your smile faded.
Stupid. Why would I think he would be here, right now, if he's on tour?
"I'm sorry to let down your hopes in me being someone else, Ms. Y/L/N," he held his hands together professionally.
"Please, just call me, y/n." you politely corrected him. "D-Did Calum send you here?"
"Oh," he chuckled, "I'm not the type to ruin surprises, y/n."
You raised an eyebrow.
"Well, are you coming?" He asked.
"No. I don't even know you, and plus, I'm dressed like I don't care about myself, so---"
The man presented you with a ticket; A 5 Seconds of Summer concert ticket. Your eyes widened as you took it into your hands and examined it.
"This... This is my city," you read the ticket in utter shock. "Why didn't he tell me he was going to be here?"
"Ma'am, are you going to waste time standing here and miss your own boyfriend's concert?" he chuckled again.
This time, you threw on your jacket and closed the door behind you. You headed to the limo, and he opened the door for you.
Once he began to drive to the concert, you couldn't wait to see Calum and his band perform. Most of all, you couldn't want to see Calum. You had been seeing him on the screen of your laptop for way too long, and now, you'd finally be able to see him and hold him in your arms.

When you guys arrived, the crowds and the paparazzi were going crazy. Fans were calling your name and waving at you, while bright flashes from the pap's cameras were nearly blinding you.
A body guard was close by your side through it all, walking you towards the back way area to get you to the boy's dressing room.
I should've worn something decent instead of my pajamas... you started to fret about you being wrongfully dressed for this occasion. You hadn't seen Cal personally in months, and this wasn't the outfit you wanted him to see you in.
The body guard stopped you once you were standing in front of a door with a paper taped on it.
'5 Seconds Of Summer Dressing Room'
Chills went up your spine as you turned the handle. You looked back at the body guard. "Are you sure they're not, like, naked or something right now?"
Chuckling, he shook his head. "Go ahead. I promise you, they're fully dressed."
You faced the door again, feeling more nervous than ever. Taking in a small, shrill breath, you finally creaked the door open. At first, they were all talking and laughing and they didn't even notice you were in the room.
"Hey, Cal, have you spoken to y/n at all today?" Ashton asked out of the blue.
Calum sunk down into the leather couch they were sitting on and shook his head. "No. I hope everything turned out right... I miss her,"
You smiled at how moody he got after the question, and decided it was enough torture for him.
"I missed you too," you said from the opening of the door.
They all jumped out of shock from the startling statement, and when Calum turned around and saw your face, he hopped over the couch and sprinted over to you. His body collided with yours as he wrapped his arm around you and rested his head on your shoulder. His body was warm in love; you could feel all the joy he was feeling. He didn't let go for a while, and you liked it just like that. Everything felt so right about you being here with him, holding onto him for dear life.
The rest of the band awed and teased Calum like crazy. When you parted, he looked straight into your eyes and pecked you on the lips.
"Y/N, I thought you weren't going to make it," he pouted as he hovered over you, his hands around your waist.
"I actually would've been here a long time ago if you would've told me you were going to be in my city." you playfully hit is arm.
"I've been tweeting about it all day," he laughed.
"Still not the same as telling me personally. Plus, I haven't been on my phone at all today."
"Aw, baby, don't be mad. I just wanted it to be a surprise," he pecked your lips again, "and you know how bad I am at surprises... but I'll make it up to you,"
"Okay, love birds! We get it!" Michael groaned.
You both looked at him and chuckled. You made your way over to the guys, and greeted them.
"It's been forever since we've seen you, y/n," Ashton smiled, wrapping you in a hug.
"I know. I've missed you guys," you beamed back.
You went over to Luke and hugged him, as well as Michael. They all were your friends too, even though you were dating Calum. You guys had some great memories together.
"Well, you look mighty dressed up," Luke laughed at your outfit of choice.
"Shut up, I was so excited to be seeing Cal after so long that I didn't care what I was wearing." you playfully flipped him the finger.
"I have something you can wear," Calum suggested, a small grin on his face.
He pulled you out of the guys dressing room and somewhere else private.
"Close your eyes," he giggled.
"Cal, you better not be---"
He placed your gift in your arms. "Now open them."
You opened your eyes to a beautiful red dress with matching high heels. Unsurprisingly, it was an expensive dress. You met eyes with him and he smiled.
"Cal, it's beautiful," you smiled, kissing him.
"A beautiful girl like you deserves a beautiful dress,"
Before either of you could say anything else, you heard Calum's bandmates and managers call for him.
"Calum! We have to be ready to get on stage in five minutes!"
He sighed and kissed you one last time.
"Now hurry and put it on," he chuckled. "I'll see you out there,"
And with that, he left. You changed into the dress, admiring your body just how it was. The dress was beautiful on you, and that's what you loved most about it.
You hurried out of the room, and the body guard was there standing and waiting for you.
"How do I look?" You smiled, twirling.
He just nodded, his arms folded. You beamed in high spirits. "Why, thank you, Mr. Body Guard,"
"You're in quite a good mood." he replied.
***
The concert had finally begun. You were having a wonderful time, and singing along to every song. Calum would occasionally look right at you as you stood in the front row, melting by the way he gazed at you with his striking brown eyes. The way he strummed his bass, his biceps glistening with sweat, made you feel a way about him that you hadn't felt in a while. His fluffy hair made the moment even better.
Once they concluded "Greenlight", Calum called you on stage. At first, you shook your head out of nervousness. The size of the crowd of fans overwhelmed you, and you honestly didn't understand how Calum and his band managed to get up on stage and do this every night without freaking out.
When you shook your head, Calum smirked, turning his attention to the attentive crowd. "Aw, it looks like y/n's a little shy,"
The crowd awed and cheered your name. They wanted you up on stage as much as he did, which made you finally give in. You were helped up on stage, and you walked over to Calum as he admired you from bottom to top.
"Wooooah, y/n!" Michael said into his microphone.
"Aye, mate, she's mine." he replied, looking over at Michael with his hands still on the body of his microphone.
The crowd and the rest of the band erupted in laughter. Once everyone settled down a little, Calum continued.
"Y/N... could you come a little closer?"
By the smile he was wearing, you could already tell he was up to something. You reluctantly walked over, and he took your hands into his own, peering into your very soul.
"Y/N," he almost whispered, getting down on one knee. "I really do love you with all my heart, and I can't imagine spending a single moment without you there to spend it with me,"
He pulled out a black box, and the entire crowd screamed in excitement. Your eyes rimmed with tears as he opened it to reveal a lovely ring.
"So, with this ring, I want you to know that you mean the world to me, no matter what part of the world I'm in. Y/F/N, will you marry me?"
You nodded and couldn't stop yourself from smiling. He slipped the ring onto your finger, and when he stood back up again, you embraced him into a tight hug.
"Gosh, I've spoiled you so much tonight," he chuckled in your ear.
"Yes, you have, baby," you whispered in his ear, "but by the end of tonight, I'll be the one saying that."
And with those very words, Calum froze as you walked off stage, everyone in awe.
Michael
(Y/B/N = Your Band Name)
The whole band was on the quite cramped tour bus, chilling on their bunks. It was just another February 14th that you and your band, Y/B/N, spent together.
You all were on tour with another band called 5 Seconds of Summer, whom which all four of you loved to death. They were like older brothers to you all, and they were just cool people to hang around.
You all had finished a wonderful, hype show in LA tonight, and you were worn out. You expected to do nothing but sleep until you arrived to the next city. But that was out of question when you ended up in an unavoidable conversation with one of your bandmates.
"Aww, isn't he amazing? He wrote me this long paragraph! Look!" Y/BM/N jumped up and down, showing you the screen of her phone. She had been babbling about her Prince Charming of a boyfriend for the last ten minutes and your other two bandmates managed to get out of dodge within the first three. Now you were left here to hear all of it.
You nodded, pulling the covers over your head.
"Ugh, y/n, what's wrong?" She pouted. "You never act like this."
"I'm just tired. That's all," you lied.
You weren't exactly lying, but that wasn't exactly the reason you were acting the way you were acting. You really just felt lonely and felt like you weren't worth anyone's time.
"'I'm just tired' my ass," she mumbled.
Before you could reply with some sarcastic remark, their was a knock on the tour bus door.
"I got it!" y/bm/n ran over to the narrow door in the front of the bus. "Mikey... hello...?"
You sat up on your bunk and peered from behind the bed curtain when you heard his name.
Oh crap... he's here.
You instantly felt the urge to hide. Your feelings towards him weren't exactly as mutual as you had figured. You liked him, and when the two of you had a few drinks at the bar one night, you told him just that. The reaction you got wasn't what you were quite expecting.
"I like us as friends, y/n," he sighed, sitting his half empty glass of alcohol on the counter. "I feel like if we get together, the fans would go crazy and think the only reason you guys go on tour with us is because I'm dating you; that's not the opinion I want to bring on to the reputation of your band. You guys are more than that, and I don't wanna mess that up."
"Oh..." you played with your fingers. "So this is just about business, huh?"
"Y/N," he chuckled lightly. "you are beautiful and there's nothing about you that reasons why I don't think we should be together. I would date you if I could, but maybe we should wait awhile and see how things play out---"
"Just admit it: being with a black girl isn't good for business."
He stared at you for a spark of time, holding a look of shock. Something about his body language... the way he was slumping over after you said those words told you that you had slightly offended him.
"Let's get one thing straight here," he stated. "I don't care what race, ethnicity, nationality, or skin color you are, I still want to be with you. Just... wait for me, please?"
You sighed, and slowly nodded. You didn't know how, but you were going to try your hardest to wait for him.
"Y/N!" y/bm/n called. "Someone's here for you!"
You hopped down from your bunk and made your way over to the front door.
Y/BM/N headed back to her bunk, leaving the two of you alone. There stood Michael, wearing his good pair of skinny black jeans and his Green Day shirt, with his usual black shoes. He had a snapback on, which you hadn't seen him wear in a while, and you couldn't downplay that it looked sexy on him. In his hands were a box of chocolates and a bouquet of red roses.
"Hi, y/n," he half-smiled.
"Hi, Michael... is this stuff for me?" you asked in awe.
"Oh, no, I got this for your bus driver. Is he around?" he responded sarcastically.
The two of you laughed in unison.
"No, but really, Michael," you stepped down from the bus and stood right in front of him. "Why are you doing this? One minute you were turning me down and now, you're standing here in the dark, holding a heart-shaped box of chocolates and gorgeous roses. It's not 'cause you feel bad for me or anything because I hate when people do things for me out of pity---"
"I realized that I was letting the opinions of others come before the love I have for you. I didn't walk all the way from my bus to yours out of pity; I came because I really need you, and we haven't spoken since that night. Being friends with you was amazing... but I really want to take it to the next level."
You cracked a small smile. "You really mean it?"
"I really mean it."
He handed you the roses and the chocolates, and wrapped his arms around your waist. He kissed your lips compassionately and sweetly, causing you to feel warm all over. When you parted, he looked you into the eyes.
"Now, what do you say to being my girlfriend?" He grinned.
"That's an easy yes."
After it all, you were finally able to call him yours, and tell the rest of your band about the unforgettable moment.
Ashton
Babyyy <3:
Won't be able to make it tonight. I got called into work last minute.... sorry.
You sat your phone on the table in frustration. You couldn't believe that he did this for the third year in a row. Honestly, you were sick of it and super close to calling it quits. Who did he think you were? Some first date that he met hours ago?
"Forget his ass," you mumbled. "I'm not gonna let this Valentine's Day be as sucky as the other two. He's been using the same excuse for the last three years; something has to be up,"
You grabbed your keys and jumped into your car, starting the engine. You weren't the person known for making scenes, but you needed to know what was up. So what better way to see what's up than to go to his job?
You had finally arrived at the office building your boyfriend worked at. You stormed inside, instantly entering the elevator and tapping the floor number that he supposedly was going to be working on today. You sucked your teeth out of annoyance as you could feel everyone inside the cramped contraption looking at you and trying their hardest not to make any sudden movements, afraid that they may catch some of the heat you were clearly steaming off.
As soon as the doors opened, you walked out and made your way inside the working area. Tons of phones were ringing and small chattering and typing of keyboards was heard all around the area. You looked around the entire floor of the building and realized that y/bf/n wasn't there at all. You decided to check in with his boss and see what was really going on.
You knocked on the door of his office and was called in immediately. When the door opened, your eyes fell upon a beautiful young man who looked no older than twenty-four. (Ash is twenty-two as of now so if you're reading this years from now, plz don't kill me)
He had his lovely dirty blonde hair pulled back into a bun, and a small growth of a beard. He had a white button up shirt, with a couple of buttons fashionably undone.
"Oh, hello, ma'am. Happy Valentine's Day," he smiled. "I'm Ashton Irwin. Is there something you need?"
"Oh... um? I was wondering if you've seen my boyfriend Y/BF/FN Y/BF/LN around here? He said he would be working today but I don't see him around here at all."
"Pardon?"
"My boyfriend... you know, Y/BF/FN? He told me that you said he was the best out of all your employees?" you stated in confusion. You just didn't understand how he couldn't remember his best worker. But you couldn't blame him, he was one man with hundreds of people working for him.
"I'm sorry. I don't recall. I've never heard that name in this building not once. Are you sure he works here?"
You finally figured it out. Your boyfriend had been lying to you about working here in the first place, and used it as an excuse to not spend time with you.
But why?
"Excuse me, one second," you fake smiled as you pulled out your phone.
You dialed his number and waited for him to answer.
"...Hello? Baby, you know I can't talk right now. I'm at work---!"
"Just cut the crap already, y/bf/n. I know you've been lying about your 'job'! So what are you really doing?"
Before he could answer your question, you heard another woman's voice. You scoffed.
"Wow... and after all this time I really thought you were worth it," you sighed calmly. "I'm not even mad. Not even a little bit. I'm honestly just sad for you,
y/bf/n. Have a nice life."
You hung up without saying anything else, and finally broke down into tears. You didn't want to let him hear that he got to you; you didn't want him to think he won.
But it almost felt as if he did win. He had you come all the way up to a company he didn't even work for, which was a total embarrassment. He had you sit around for years, believing his little scheming lies. He had you humiliated in front of a nice guy, and now... you were crying in front of him.
"Hey, hey," the guy came over, wrapping his arms around you and letting you cry into his chest. "don't waste tears over him. He was a liar and a cheater, the worst combination to exist,"
"I just spent so much time loving him, but who knows who I was to him? I probably never even meant anything to him at all,"
Ashton allowed you to let everything out without saying a single word. He just rubbed the sides of your arms, staring in the space ahead of him.
"Well if he was too dumb enough to see how beautiful and strong of a girl you are, then I guess that's his loss," he finally spoke.
You looked up into his captivating eyes, causing him to smile at you. "Let's go out for coffee. I'm not going to let you cry away this lovely day. You deserve more."
He threw on his coat and took you by the hand. The two of you ended up spending the rest of the day together, and he had completely erased the thought of your newly ex boyfriend. It was like everything worked out just fine. You had won after all.
******
That took forever, and you can probably tell it's rushed, but I really wanted to publish this on Valentine's Day, and now it's thirty minutes from February 15th :/
Welp, I suck.
