I woke up and quickly got changed. I changed into my slim fire proof shorts and top, then pulled on a cute blouse and shorts so my suit wouldn't show. I wore it just in case something happened and I went all......red again.

I haven't had a incident in two years or so. I've been able to control it.

I pulled my hair up, and put on some lip gloss. Listen, If I'm gonna kick ass I might as well look good doing it.

I put on my armour and went to go see Hailey. I went to our quarters kitchen to see her eating.

"Good morning Hailey" I smiled she returned the gesture and offered me a muffin.

"Thanks" I thanked her. I sat down at the table next to her.

"How long were you up last night?" She asked me. I shrugged "I don't know...I stayed up till mid night I guess, I was on patrol duty" I told her.

"You need to get more sleep Katie" she told me, I sighed and rolled my eyes "I'm fine Hailey" I said taking a bite out of the blueberry muffin.

"I don't know why you always demand to have night shifts" she said. It was peaceful at night, and more dangerous. I didn't trust anyone to do the job properly.

"I don't know...its quiet. I like it" I half lied. She raised a brow at me "well I'm telling you know I don't think you should. You need more rest, the other villages are getting restless and beginning to become greedy. They want more power now" she said sternly.

"Says who?" I asked her. I haven't noticed that...

"I have friends in other villages that thought they should notify me of such. I'm grateful to know such amazing people" she smiled softly thinking about fond memories.

But then she shook out of it and said "I have to make a trip somewhere today" where would that be?

"You mean we right?" I asked her. She sighed and took a sip of her coffee. "No. I mean me. I'm heading off to ScalesWind" she Said.

"What's in ScalesWind?" I questioned. I haven't really been there before, other than small trading trips.

"A....friend. The lord there and I have to have a brief meeting about Burtemi" she said. Burtemi? Why Burtemi? I thought that was all over?

"What about Bertemi?" I Pried. "Well, we just need to go over what happened and how we can avoid that from ever happening again. We don't need that, maybe even a better plan than what we came up with? I don't know.....all I do know is that I don't want Pikoro being threatened like that again" she said, as I sensed a little bit of anger. I rarely saw Hailey angery.

"Okay...is there anything I can do?" I asked her. She shook her head "no, everything should already be accounted for, I need you to stay here I'll bring Fredrick and Ethan with me" she said. Fredrick and Ethan were also guards here. I don't talk nor see them much lately since they both do morning shifts.

"Okay, as long as you have people with you. I trust Ethan." I said stubbornly. She laughed "and you don't trust Fredrick?" She questioned I laughed loudly "have you met Fredrick?!"

"Yeah, I suppose your right....but he's loyal and he can dual sword." She commented I laughed again "I suppose so"

Fredrick and Ethan were brothers. Ethan was sophisticated, calm and stern. But, Fredrick was Flirtatious and stupid. If you ask me, I wouldn't mind accidentally torching him on fire.

After Hailey was sent off I went to my daily duties, checking on all the villagers. I decided to check on the inn, I haven't been there in a while. The minute I step foot inside a little chime went on indicating that someone entered.

I tapped the bell, and before I knew it a sweet and frail lady stepped out. She was wearing a beautiful purple dress.Amethyst.

"Oh my dear! Kathryn is that you?!" She said running over to give me a hug. I chuckled softly "yes it is Amethyst" I grinned. "Oh what did I tell you about calling me that?! I'm your auntie child!" She scolded me with a hug.

Moments later a man with bushy white eyebrows and beard walked out, he had green suspenders with a white shirt "Awe! Honey, I was wondering what was going on here!" He chuckled "share the child!" He demanded. I gave him a hug.

"Oh you're just more beautiful everyday!" Amethyst gushed. I blushed slightly. " your growing up to be a fine woman " he said pecking me on the fore head.

"It's been so long since I've had a visit....I'm so sorry" I said sadly. "Oh don't worry about that! We're not going anywhere" Amethyst laughed while her husband wrapped his arm around her waist.

They were always so cute together, they were like the golden couple. They were your goal in life to be old and happy. They truly loved each other. When I first came to Pikoro, I was timid and well scarred. I didn't know anyone and the people I use to be surrounded by killed my parents....I don't think you can really judge me.

But they were so welcoming and kind. I use to see them everyday, but once I became head guard...it changed. I didn't have time to waste my time, and fool around I had to show Hailey my true potential. I felt bad about not seeing them everyday, but things got hectic. I see them occasionally, when the village comes together for meetings or parties.

I'm hopping I can begin to see them daily again...I missed them.

After having tea and chatting our hearts out I had to leave and check on everyone else. The next people to see where Ruben and Ava. Ruben and Ava were the parents of Fredrick and Ethan. They were very loving and patient parents. Well you kinda have to be if you're raising a kid like Fredrick.

Ruben had Red hair which was passed down to Ethan and Fredrick, with classic green eyes and Ava had soft honey blonde coloured hair. They were both quite young when they had Ethan, Ethan's only 3years older than me, and Fredrick is only a year older but acts like he's four.

I knocked on the door gently. After I knock three or four times the door opened to see a very, very happy Ava with Ruben wrapped around her. "Good morning guys!" I said smiling.

"Oh! Katie, I feel like I haven't seen you in ages! How's my daughter in law?" She asked me giving me a big hug. Everyone's in a pretty good mood today.

"Huh I'm good" I said. Ever since I met Ava she's been praying for me to marry Fredrick.not happening.

"Your so pretty" she smiled lifting my chin. Why is everyone saying that?

"Thank you" I said keeping my smiled on.

"How have you been Katie? Haven't seen you around lately. I'm guessing you've been pretty busy huh?" Ruben said. My smile started to droop slightly.

"Yeah...." I trailed off. But then Ava smacked him "Ruben! She's got a lot to do since she's the head guard!" She smiled cheerfully as her blue eyes twinkled.

"I apologize for not coming to see you guys regularly....I've just been busy... Especially with having to go to Burtemi..." I trailed off. I felt so bad. All these people, who have been here and welcomed me before and I just go and forget about them? They must hate me....I would hate me....

"No need to apologize darling, you can't say sorry for doing your job. And your damn good at it too I'm proud of you! If it weren't for you keeping guard all the time keeping us safe who knows what would happen" she assured me.

She's right. I do my job. That's what I'm suppose to do. Although I don't see them all the time I protect them. I guess I tend to forget that sometimes....

"Okay well, we won't keep you. Have an amazing day Katie." Ruben smiled. I nodded "you too" I said as went to the next person.

After checking the fisheries, the stables, the farmers, the lumber jacks, shop keeps and the other guards. I had one last place to visit, it was getting a bit late....I wondered when Hailey would be coming back.

I knocked onto the wooden cabins door. The door opened. "Hey Katie!" Dominic said excitedly. "Hi" I said. The aroma that hit my senses was over whelming and mouth watering. He laughed "wanna come in? I was just making some dinner." He asked leaning against the door frame with his black hair all messy and his chocolate brown eyes filled with amusement.

"Hmmmm...I don't know... I should be waiting for Hailey to get back" I trailed off....if I started eating I wouldn't stop.

He laughed "come on, it's not even that dark I promise I won't keep you long" he smirked. I rolled my eyes and walked in. He's so annoying....but damn the boy can cook the way to a woman's heart.

After a wonderful meal, I helped clean up. "So, how's your mom and dad....I didn't see them at there house" I asked while he passed me the sponge. "Oh yeah, they left for a while, but they'll be back" he said. "Oh really? Where to?" I asked while grabbing another plate.

"From what I understand, no where in particular. They just wanted sometime alone" he said while flicking water on me. "Your such an ass" I told him shoving him aside.

"You know, I should make a mess more often so you can clean after me" he teased. " yeah, yeah make fun of the woman!" I laughed. "Nah, I love a woman who can clean and kick ass" he teased. "I bet you do" I laughed.

all of a sudden we heard "OPEN THE GATES!" We both looked at each other, I got up took his hand and quickly ran down the pathway with only the street lights to guide us.

We weaved through the houses and path ways until we where standing right in front of the gate to see Hailey, Fredrick, Ethan and.....a boy? Once the boy stepped into the light I froze. He had blonde hair with light brown eyes, and dimples.

I walked over to Hailey "who is this?" I asked defensively. "This is-""My names Nolan" he offered his hand out. His voice was deep. So deep I almost fainted. I've never heard such sweet melodies.

"My name Kathryn" I said extending my hand as he knelt down and kissed it. My face was burning red. Awe man.

"But, I called her Katie" Dominic stepped in, I glared at him. What's your problem?

"And who are you?" Nolan asked him with a raised brow. "The names Dominic" he said sternly and seriously. I've never seen Dominic like this before....hmm

"Well.....Dominic, are you by any chance Lady Kathryn's boyfriend?" He asked glancing at me flashing his Dimples.

He hung his head low as he mumbled a "no" Nolan smiled "I see..." He said.

"I believe Lord Hailey, you and I, have much to talk about" he said. "Come on, guys." Hailey said pulling me back into the real world, and with that we followed Hailey into the guard tower.
