23 Anxiety
"Princess, are they any paracetamol?" Nick called from my tiny dorm kitchen.
"Yeah," I called back, "should be above the stove."
Nick walked back into the room with baggy eyes, messy hair and a groggy voice. Why does he still look so attractive?
"Thank you, baby princess." He threw himself onto my bed.
"Baby princess?" I scoffed.
"Shh, hangover messes up my brain." He hushed and ushered me over to him.
We laid down for a while and he wouldn't let me go. This is why I love him.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Of corse, baby girl." He squeezed me waist.
"Yesterday, why did you get drunk?"
"Honestly?" I turned to face him, looking into his eyes and nodded.
"Because I... I don't want..."
"It's ok, you can tell me anything." I smiled.
"I know." He sighed. "I didn't want you to end up like me."
I knitted my eyebrows together. "What do you mean, Nick?"
"In my first school, I was bullied for no reason, so in my second year of high school, I joined Joe and and Matts school. I was really anxious and I wouldn't speak for the first few months. Till Noah asked if I was ok, and then I started to build up confidence but people still teased me, so I began fighting back and being dick," he laughed softly.
"I started dating Alyssa, she cheated of me, and I started being a player- with out sleeping around- but because of that one thing; most of my school life was a fuck up. I was constantly anxious about what they thought of me if I didn't live up to their standards. I don't want anything like that to happen to you. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."
"I'm so sorry, Nick. This is my fault, I'm sorry." I whispered.
It was my fault. I made him feel worried about me and then blanked him off. He drunk because of me.
"Hey, never apologise to me." He kissed the top of my head then started to laugh.
"What?! What's so funny?"
"I just drunk a few beers, Ash. It wasn't that bad. None of it was your fault, I just got worried and over thought about shit. It doesn't matter, princess."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," he laughed. "Baby, it's all ok. Come on now, I've got class and you need to explain to Evan why he had no dorm to sleep in last night. As much as I don't like that dude, you practically kicked him out of his own dorm- just for druken me."
