12. One Day More

This chapters gonna flash forward a bit...
Niall's pov
One day more until we ship out again. I was not happy nor excited, but what am I gonna do about it?
I was with Lynn and we were doing some training exercises to get ready for tomorrow.
When Harry broke the news about Louis staying back, I thought that I'd be more upset....
I don't mean to sound like a complete jerk, but it's just like I feel like I don't even know him anymore.
"C'mon Niall! Times ticking!" Lynn shouted at me. We had to take on an obstacle course in less that 5 minutes and if we didn't, we'd have to stay here until we did.
It was pretty easy until we got to the end. We had to set up a bomb so it would go off right after we would climb over a wall. Don't worry it's not a real one....
"I got this" Lynn told me. "I'll set it up and you get to the top of that wall!"
"But what if you don't make it in time?" I asked.
"I will!" She said determined. "Just don't go over it. Wait at the top."
"Why?"
"Just trust me! We don't have time to chat!"
I ran and took a head start and jumped onto the wall. It wasn't like a rock wall, it didn't have any pegs that you grab a hold of. Instead there were tiny cracks between the wood that you could barely get your fingers into.
It took me some tries but I eventually got up there. I looked down at Lynn and she was still working on the bomb.
I looked at the clock and it read 4:15.
"Cmon Lynn!" I shouted.
"Got it!" She replied and got up. She ran to wall.

She missed one of the cracks and fell.
"Cmon you got this!" I yelled.

"Niall your hand!" she yelled. Now I understood why she said wait at the top. I extended my hand out and she took it. I pulled her up and looked at the clock.

"Let's go she shouted!" We didn't have time to climb down so we jumped. As we jumped the 'explosion' went off behind us.
We were laying on the ground panting as the buzzer went off.
"That close!" Lynn gasped.
"Well without your smart thinking I don't think that we would of made it"
"Pshhh" she smiled. I got up and gave her a hand.
"Wanna head to my place?" I asked.
"I would...but there's something that I need to do first."
"And that would be?"
"Just start heading home Niall, I'll be there in about twenty minutes tops" I said.
"Alright" he said dubiously.
When he got into a car I pulled my phone out.
"Zach? Yeah it's Lynn. We need to talk"
Harry's pov
"Cmon Lou don't be like that" I said to Louis who was currently behaving like a little baby about not going on the mission.
"How am I gonna live? What will I do with my life?" He asked.
"We're not going to be gone forever"
"It sure seems like it..." He mumbled.
I walked over and say right next to him on the floor.
"I'm not leaving you Lou...I promise"
"Stop!" He snapped and stood up.
"What is it now?" I sighed.
"Don't promise me things that you know you can't keep?"
"Louis what are you talking about?"
"You don't know what's going to happen on the mission. Maybe you'll die on the first day. Who knows?"
"Stop you're acting like a child!" I finally snapped. "This is one of the reasons you're not going on the mission. You're so stubborn and won't accept anything that's opposite of what you're thinking!"
"Thanks" he said and I heard his feet walk up the stairs and I heard his door shut.
"Way to go Harry" I said to myself. I slowly got up and made my descend to his room. "Louis?" I asked and knocked on his door.
"Screw off!"
"Cmon Lou..."
"I said leave" Crap he was mad.
"Boo please let me in." I said softly and I heard the lock click and I opened the door.
"Say what you have to and then leave" he said bluntly.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those things."
"Yeah yeah not leave" he said and pointed at the door.
"I'm not done. Louis tell me what's going through your head right now. It's not good to keep that in"
"It's just....ugh it's just I feel left out and there's a big part of me missing with you guys going on the mission"
"Oh Lou, it'll go by so fast that it'll be over before you know it. You're still helping, but you're staying home."
"I don't want to stay home" he pouted.
"I know, but how are you suppose to get better? You have a lot a therapy sessions while we're gone. If you go to those you get better and maybe come on the next mission."
"Maybe...."
"Please be optimistic. Happy thoughts alright?"
"Alright..."
"There you go" I said happily and gave him a small hug. "You still get to say bye at the airport tomorrow!"
"Yeah. Hey Harry?"
"Yes?"
"Could I have some alone time for a bit?" He asked.
"Uh yeah sure. You gonna be ok?"
"Don't worry Haz. Everything is going to be just fine". He said. I smiled and left the room.
When got back down stairs there was someone in my living room.
"You know, you really shouldn't leave your door unlocked" the person said and stood up to face me. "You really never know who's out there".
"Thank you professor Liam" I joked.
"Hey I told you guys to stop doing that!" Liam whined and I laughed.
"Whats up mate?" I said and sat in a chair across from him.
"It's that new girl..." He said.
"Maddie? Everything fine?" I asked.
"I don't know mate...I don't think that I can deal with her coming with us."
"What?! Didn't you too make up?"
"Yeah, but its gonna be too hard..."
"To hard for what?" I asked him.
"To see her on the mission. What if something happens?"
"Anything can happen Liam. And she like any of us have training for this."
"I know....just the thought of..." He trailed off.
"Anything happening to her" I finished for him. "I know what you mean"
"You mean with-"
"Yeah....It even scares me when I leave him to go to the store."
"I get what you mean but this is different. Louis isn't the same anymore-"
"I know that!" I snapped. "Sorry"
"No it's my fault" Liam said. "He's gonna get better" he reassured.
"I really hope so...I just can't imagine leaving him for this long."
"He's going to therapy and there's other agents looking after him" Liam said.
"I'm just scared"
