Chapter 21~ Girlfriend?
"Finally they left." Casey moans plopping back down on the sofa beside me making me chuckle.
"And it's only 1am."
"Is it too late to talk?" He questions.
"Think so. Tomorrow Casey. I need to know what this all means. What us, means." I say.
"And we will."
"I'm going to go to bed. Talk to you later Case." I say standing up.
I walk into Caseys guest room bathroom and use the tooth brush I always leave there and then get into bed.
I don't go asleep because all the thoughts run through my head.
Does Casey only see me as another one of his "love and leaves"?
Does he think the kisses were a mistake?
Does he like me?
Okay maybe the last one is less likely but still, it's a possibility. Right?
Eventually, slumber takes over and before I know it, I'm woken up by the smoke alarm going off.
I jump out of the bed and run downstairs to find Liv and Meg chuckling as Casey is fluttering around the stove trying to get rid of the smoke while I grab a towel from the bench and start waving it in front of the sensor.
Once if finally quietens, Casey stares at me with a puppy expression as if he was about to get into trouble.
"What is going on?" I yell and Liv and Meg run out of the kitchen.
"I was woken up at 8am begged to make pancakes. I told them later but they were adamant and I didn't go to bed until 1:30, I'm tired Em." Casey explains.
I look at the clock and see it reads 9:57.
"I should get home. Hey where's your mom?" I question.
"Oh she texted me at 3am saying she's crashing at a friends because it wouldn't be late til she got back."
"Oh does she still need me to sit Meg?"
"Nah I texted Holly and Seth to babysit Megan later. We have something we need to take care of." He says referring back to the kiss conversations.
"I shall get dressed so." I say and I take Livs hand and her bag by the door and walk into my house.
I quickly get into the shower and when I finish I change into navy sweats and grey crop top and brush my hair out then put them into two French braids.
I see Seths car pull up to Caseys garden and then he and Holly get out but Holly comes to my house instead.
"Hello Hunter family." She chirps.
I run downstairs and lean on the banisters and talk to her.
"What you doing?" I ask.
"Well me being the bestest friend EVER, I decided to take Olivia off your hands while you and Case have your "talk"." She smirks and winks.
"Thank you Holls. My parents will be home in about an hour and then they are going to Houston. Have her back by then please. And in one piece." I beg.
"Jeesh, thanks Em. Don't forget, I have a little brother too." She says as Liv walks out of the living room and Holly takes hold of her hand ready to leave.
"How is Tyra, by the way ?" I tease since she insists her older sister is adopted.
"Funny. Zeke is fantastic, thanks for asking. We better go. Seth and Meg are waiting for us. Bye Em."
"Cya. Bye Livvy." I smile and they both say goodbye then I go upstairs to find Casey lying on my bed.
"Hey." I whisper and he jumps up.
"I like you." He blurts out.
"What?" I question furrowing my eyebrows out of confusion.
"I-I like you Emily. More than a friend. And that's exactly what them kisses were about. So no beating around the bush with this talk, no I think I do but I think I don't too, I like you Emily. Always have and always will. I guess the only thing we need to talk about is, your expression and how you feel."
I walk closer to him and shake my head in shock.
"I-I'm just shocked, I guess. If you liked me, why didn't you tell me before this? I mean, you've been the schools bad boy, football captain and quarterback all of high school even in JV. You're so confident so why are you only telling me this now?" I question.
He closes the small space between us and takes my small hands in his large ones and looks into my eyes with a small grin playing on his lips.
"Because you're my best friend Emily, I didn't want to ruin things but seeing you with Jamie, hurt."
Now you know how I feel when you're with Amber and all them other girls.... I thought to myself.
"I like you, Em." He whispers and a small smile appears on my face.
"I like you too Casey."
His face lights up but when I speak again, his small alters.
"But what about this, what about our friendship?"
"What about it?" Casey questions.
I walk over to my bed and sit down.
"What if it doesn't work out? What if we have a big fight and break up? Things would not only ruin our relationship but our friendship too. I don't know if I can take that risk." I look up.
"Okay, then we have to promise whatever happens in our relationship, can't effect our friendship. Promise?" He asks holding out his pinky finger and I lift mine and link it with his.
"Promise." I bite my lip.
"Okay good. Now can I kiss you? Because I really wanna kiss you." He says and I chuckle and nod my head.
We are inches apart when I hear a high pitched squeal.
"Casey? Case? Baby, where are you?" The familiar voice calls out and I run over to the window and see the evil witch herself leaning against her car calling up towards Caseys house.
I scoff and look at Casey.
"Next time you have your fuck buddy over, make sure you rain check with your other friends."
I walk towards my door and hold it open for Casey.
"Em, I didn't invite her here." He says standing up and walking towards me.
"Get rid of her Casey." I beg.
"I can't stand that girl, either you both leave, or you get rid of her."
He storms out of my room and I hear my front door closing so I run to the window and Ambers expression whenever Casey walks out of my house is priceless.
I see Casey talking to her and then Ambers hand rises and collides with Caseys cheek making me hiss.
"Ouch." I say to myself.
Amber drives off and Casey walks back into my house and I meet him on the stairs. Me trying to his my grin.
"Happy?" I nod.
I look at his cheek and see a gash forming.
"Oh no." I chuckle.
"She got you bad." I say.
"Her ring got me fucking bad. Jeez that hurt." He hisses.
I place my hand on his cheek and we make eye contact and I grin.
"Let's get you cleaned up."
We walk into my kitchen and I get the first aid kit and take out a disinfected wipe and wipe it over his forming cut.
I put some cream on it and the band aid and I chuckle at him.
"There, perfect." I say through chuckles.
"Why are you laughing?" He asks.
"It's just about time it happened. Hey, you had it coming for years. Juggling different girls, but I'm just shocked it's me that triggered it." I say and then go into full fits of laughter.
Casey pulls me in by the hips so I'm standing between his legs that are parted because he is sitting on the counter.
"You were always a threat Em." He whispers and I feel butterflies form.
"A hot and beautiful and talented best friend that I was closer with than my own family? I'd be jealous too."
"You think I'm hot?"
"Boiling." He says and we both chuckle.
I look back into his big brown eyes and begin to lean as does he until we are interrupted by the door opening.
"Emily." Hollys voice calls out.
We cough and then pull away from each other when Holly walks in.
"Hey. I'm just dropping Liv off."
"Where's Meg?" Casey asks.
"Seth dropped her into your house. Evan is in there."
We hear the door open and Seth joins us in the kitchen.
"Your parents are pulling up Em." I smile.
"Dude, what happened to your cheek?" Seth asks Casey.
"Amber happened."
I walk to the door ready to hear the lecture my parents will give me for staying home alone.
Me and my mom both walk back into the kitchen instead and she says hi to everyone and smiles.
"Okay, I left money for take out or whatever. Casey Holly and Seth can stay but please be good. We'll be home early tomorrow, I've work."
"Okay. Bye mom. Love you." I say.
"Bye baby." She says kissing my cheek.
"Bye guys." She says and a chorus of byes and cyas follow her out.
My family leave and then we walk into the living room.
"So what you wanna do?" I ask.
"Well I for one want pizza." Seth says.
"It's 12pm." I say and everyone laughs.
"I can make food though." I suggest.
"Anything but pancakes." Casey says and I chuckle.
"Bacon sambos?" I offer.
"Sounds good." Seth and Holly say.
I stand up and walk into the kitchen when Casey offers to help me.
"So what are we now?" He questions.
"We are making bacon." I say.
"What I'm trying to say is Emily-" He begins but I cut him off.
"Can you get the butter please."
"Listen to me Emily." He begs.
"Oh I don't think there's bread." I say.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He shouts.
I stand still and then slowly turn around.
"Will you?" He asks and I open my mouth to speak but quickly close it.
"Emily speak. I'm getting scared here." He chuckles nervously.
"Yes." I whisper.
"Yes?"
"Yes." I say louder with a smile growing on my face.
Casey runs over to me and lifts me in the air and spins me around making me laugh.
"What is going on in here?" Holly asks as she and Seth walk into us.
"I just asked Emily to be my girlfriend."
"Took you long enough." Holly says.
"You knew?" I question.
"You told her?" Casey asks Seth.
"That doesn't matter now. All heartbreak is over and we are all happy now. Omg we can go on double dates!" Holly cheers.
"Um Case, is it too late to say no." I joke and everyone chuckles.
Finally.
Me and Casey are dating.
Boyfriend and girlfriend.
