Chapter Twenty-Four!
That same night I felt a shake on my shoulder, on my first instinct my fist shot up, and I gasped. My fist connected with something hard, my eyes flew open, and I saw Will hold his nose. He looked like a mess, his eyes were red he looked like he hasn't slept for days, and now he looks like he's in pain.
"Sorry," I whisper.
"It's okay." He says, and then shakes his head, he looks like a mess,
"Why did you wake me, no offense, but you look like a mess." I say. He smiles.
"I haven't been completly honest with you, I miss Al." He says.
"Oh," is all I manage to say.
"I haven't slept ever since we saw Al pitch himself over the ledge."
"It's okay it's not your fault, we were all scared when that happened."
"but we could have tried harder to save him!"
'Listen Al was a hopeless cause, he was saved the first time because of Edward, and then it was obvious that he wasn't going to make it. He was going to be Factionless." I can tell by the look on his face, that I still have not helped him. "Will whe it's youe time to go it's your time. Al sped it up. It was all up to him."
"I don't know how I'm going to sleep-"
"I do, you're going to sleep with me tonight, and you're going to dream a wonderfull dream, all you have to is close your eyes." I say with sincerity, all though, I was not completely aware of what I said untill I said it.
To cover up, I scoot over in my bed, and make room for Will. I pat on my bed, to motion him to come into my bed. I might look cool on the outside, but my heart could not be pumping louder. I could not feel more butterflies in my stomach.
He hisitates before sitting down, and sliding. his body next to mine, I face him. He looks uncertain, probably because I just offered him to sleep next to me. His eyebrows are forrowed down, so I see the crease between his eyebrows. He puts his arm around me, and I stiffen.
"Sorry," He says. "I just want to feel comftorable," He says, as if trying to explain. I lean into his arm I cradle with him. I feel so comftorable with him, as if we are to pieces that fit prfectly together. I feel a shiver, and this time I know it's him. I look up at him, and he looks at me.
I stare into his pale-celery green eyes, letting them hypnotize me. I lean into him. He wraps his arms around me tightly, they feel strong, and I feel safe in his arms. Then I shut my eyes, and let the sweet smell of Will soak in.
As simple as that I fall asleep.

The next morning I feel light, but I don't let it show. Will and I agreed this morning as he left my bed so no one will know he was there, that Tris is still in a weak spot, and we should not tell her for a while. I find keeping secrets hard, but I will do it.
This morning Tris has been acting wierd, she will not stop smiling no matter what, she's actually showing her skin, and she is giggly, and looks light.
“What is it with you today?” I ask on the way to breakfast.
“Oh, you know,” Tris says. “Sun shining. Birds chirping.” I raise an eyebrow at her, as if reminding her that we are in an underground tunnel.
“Let the girl b e in a good mood,” Will says. “You may never see it again.” Tris smacks his arm and hurrys towards the dining hall. We sit down in our usual place, next to Will, with Tris and Uriah across from us.
I grab a piece of toast from the plate in the middle of the table and start to butter it, I look at Tris who is also buttering her toast, with a little too much enthusiasm. She then lifts her hand. I try to look at the direction she is, but I get lost. Then something happens, she drops her hand and stops smiling.
“Something wrong?” asks Uriah through a mouthful of toast. She shakes her head and takes a bite.
“Today’s fear landscape day,” says Will. “You think we’ll get to see our own fear landscapes?”
“No.” Uriah shakes his head. “You go through one of the instructors’ landscapes. My brother told me.”
“Ooh, which instructor?”I say, suddenly perking up.
“You know, it really isn’t fair that you all get insider in formation and we don’t,” Will says, glaring at Uriah.
“Like you wouldn’t use an advantage if you had one,” retorts Uriah. I ignore them.
“I hope it’s Four’s landscape.” I say.
“Why?” She asks. The question comes out too incredulous.
“Looks like someone had a mood swing.” I roll my eyes. “Like you don’t want to know what his fears are. He acts so tough that he’s probably afraid of marshmallows and really bright sunrises or something. Overcompensating.” She shakes her hesd.
“It won’t be him.” She declairs.
“How would you know?”
“It’s just a prediction.”
Lauren, the instructor of the Dauntless-born initiates, stands with her hands on her hips outside the fear landscape room.
“Two years ago,” she says, “I was afraid of spiders, suffocation, walls that inch slowly inward and trap you between them, getting thrown out of Dauntless, uncontrollable bleeding, getting run over by a train, my father’s death, public humiliation, and kidnapping by men without faces.” Everyone stares blankly at her. “Most of you will have anywhere from ten to fifteen fears in your fear landscapes. That is the average number,” she says.
“What’s the lo west number someone has gotten?” asks Lynn.
“In recent years,” says Lauren, “four.”
“You will not find out your number today,” says Lauren. “The simulation is set to my fear landscape program, so you will experience my fears instead of your own.” Tris gives me a pointed look. “For the purposes of this exercise, though, each of you will only face one of my fears, to get a sense for how the simulation works.” Lauren points to us at random and assigns us each a fear.
