V: Sasuke's Purpose
This is getting rather dramatic now.
Oh, how I longed to leave.
"Having too many ties in this world will only lead you astray. It weakens ones ambition. Distracts you from what truly matters.. Isn't that right?"
He looked right into my eyes when he asked that question. Still, how he managed to see me shocked me to the core.
I shot him a death glare as he pried his gaze from mine.
How dare that bastard, bringing up that topic.
"Keep me out of, you bastard." I warned him with a hushed whisper.
"If that's how you felt, Sasuke.. Then why didn't you?" Naruto said through clenched teeth.
"If that's all true then why didn't you kill me that day?!" Naruto burst out. "Weren't you gonna break our bond, Sasuke?!"
"The reason is simple. Its not that I couldn't break our bond, Naruto. I was simply doing as my older brother had done before me. It was nothing more than a strategy to gain power."
"What are you talking about?!"
"I don't owe you any explanations. All I can tell you is.. That day.. That day, when I left you lying there, I only spared your life on a whim. Nothing more."
Sasuke, you truly are a heartless bastard.
And then Sasuke's expression darkened.
In the blink of an eye he was gone from my side, as I watched him swiftly and silently appear next to Naruto with his incredible speed, resting his left hand on Naruto's shoulder.
I didn't bother to strain my senses to listen to their conversation as I watched the scene play out from the edge of the cliff.
But my eyes widened slightly when Sasuke reached for his snake sword.
Hmm. This was definitely going to get interesting.
And then he drew out his blade slowly.
He looked as if he hesitated for a slight moment, and then he drew it down upon Naruto.
I held my breath, waiting for the piercing sound of a blade on skin, but Sai had intervened.
Naruto then flipped around, keeping his grip tight on Sasuke's arm.
I smiled when the ANBU clasped his hands together, a wood thing coming out of his hand.
"Chidori Stream!" Sasuke said as lightning emitted from him, forcing Naruto, Sai, and the ANBU's jutsu back.
He casually stood up straight as chidori surrounded his body, his blade still drawn as he looked at Naruto.
I stood up slowly on my feet, dusting the dirt off my clothing.
I watched as Sakura trembled in anger, her hands in fists as chakra suddenly appeared to be coating her hand.
And then she charged at him.
Hmm. Maybe I should interfere now.
Just as I was about to jump down into the crater, the ANBU stepped in between Sakura and Sasuke as Sasuke drew his chidori coated snake sword through the ANBU's chest.
Geez. This is just now getting annoying.
I watched Sasuke's expression shift to slight worry as he watched Naruto slowly drag himself up.
He better not be thinking of killing Naruto.
As Sasuke was distracted by watching Naruto slowly get up, the ANBU shoved his blade away by a protruding piece of wood from the wound.
Sasuke stumbled back a few steps.
"Wood style! Dome walled jutsu!"
Huge pieces of wood protruded from the ground, enveloping an alarmed Sasuke.
Well, I guess that's my cue.
But no, Sasuke burst a hole through the wooden dome as he shot out right to me.
I stepped to the side so he wouldn't run straight into me, as he spun around and landed, facing them.
"Why can't you understand?!" Naruto shouted. "He'll take your body, Sasuke!! Its Orochimaru! He's just using you!!"
"If it happens, it happens. So be it."
I gave him a worried glance. He's not serious. Right?
"You're still such a child Naruto. I don't care what happens to me, or anyone else in this world. So long as I can get my revenge, nothing else matters. To be honest, neither Orochimaru nor I am strong enough to defeat Itachi alone. But if I can obtain the power to defeat Itachi by giving myself to Orochimaru, I'll give him my life a thousand times over."
That Uchiha. I can't believe he'd actually do it, give himself to Father willingly.
He pisses me off. Why can't he just forget about his thirst for revenge?
I watched as the ANBU approached Sasuke, apologizing to Naruto and Sasuke for what he was about to do.
"We're bringing him back to the Leaf by any means necessary." The ANBU said.
"The Leaf Village?" Sasuke spoke those three words our of disgust. "I'm done with the lot of you."
My eyes widened as Sasuke thrust his snake sword into the ground, performing a number of hand signs as he lifted his arm above his head, his chakra cloaking him.
I hadn't seen this jutsu before. It was intimidating.
I grabbed Sasuke's arm as I felt my invisibility jutsu disperse at the touch of Sasuke's and my own chakra making contact. I forced my chakra out of my body, enveloping his to prevent his assault. Sasuke's chakra was great, but mine, due to the massive amount of powers I had, was more massive and heavy.
I heard their gasps below as I looked at Sasuke carefully in the eyes. He was staring down at me with just as equal intensity.
"M-Miyako?!" Sakura said in surprise.
"Orochimaru." Naruto spat.
And sure enough, the moment I glanced back, there stood Father right behind me, his eyes narrowed at Sasuke.
"I wouldn't bother with that jutsu. Be smart now." Father spoke.
But Sasuke's eyes were still on mine.
"Let go." He warned.
"No."
I watched from the corner of my eye as Sasuke swung out his other arm at me, but Kabuto suddenly appeared, grabbing Sasuke's other arm.
"Now now, Sasuke. Watch your tone with the princess." Kabuto warned him.
Sasuke snapped his head toward Kabuto.
"Give me a reason to stop." Sasuke challenged.
"You do remember the Akatsuki are on the move now, don't you?"
Sasuke frowned.
"We want the good people of the Leaf Village to get rid of them for us. As many of them as possible. If the other Akatsuki interfere, you might not get your precious revenge." Kabuto said as he cautiously released Sasuke's arm.
"That's a pitiful excuse."
"But if it helps your chances by even one small percent then its worth it. Agreed?" Kabuto asked with a hard look.
I watched Sasuke's expression soften slightly before he moved his gaze back down to Naruto.
"You may release him now, darling." Father told me as he placed a hand on my shoulder.
And so I did.
"We're leaving." Father said.
As Sasuke begun to sheathe his sword, I turned away and allowed myself to be transported in the way of fire, as I focused my jutsu on them also after a few moments.
