Last Friday Night

(First: ^Look at this smol bean)
(Disclaimer: totally non-canon. Completely made-up. I haven't seen the Spider-Man movie and this doesn't even fit the trailer)

"You do know this is a terrible idea, right?" You turned to your best friend, Peter Parker, as he hiked his bag up higher onto his shoulders, staring intently at Midtown High's "It Girl", Liz Allen.

"Doubt is the biggest dream killer," he argued.

"Actually, hold this." He handed you his backpack as Ned gave him a thumbs-up and a smile.

"You haven't even said more than two words to her before now. Shouldn't you, you know, work up to it?" You folded your arms.

Michelle appeared behind the three of you.

"She's got a point, Parker. Girls don't usually say yes to a guy automatically."

"Unless he's hot," you piped in.
"Or rich," Michelle added.
"Or both," Ned agreed.

He turned to the three of you, his jaw clenching and a desperate look in his eyes.

"Come on, guys! Can't you support me for this? I'm nervous enough as it is, even without my three best friends shooting me down."

You rolled your eyes.
"You're right, Peter. We're sorry. Go confess your love for the most popular girl in school, in front of the whole school, and we'll watch because we love a perfect lamb to the slaughter. Go on, go ahead." You shooed him sarcastically.

He groaned when Michelle laughed.

"Please guys?"

You sighed before you patted him on the back.

"Fine, Peter. Go." You turned and grabbed his flowers from off of the table behind you.

"Don't forget these."
Michelle and Ned both clapped him on the back.
"Let's go, Lover Boy."
"You've got this, Peter."

"Really?" He turned and looked back at the three of you.

"No," you all said in unison.

"But," Michelle started.
"We'll support you," Ned finished.

Peter gave his heart-warming crooked smile before all three of you pushed him towards Liz's table.

Michelle got out her phone to record it, but you and Ned both looked at her disapprovingly.

"What?" She shrugged.
"We'll need to pinpoint the exact moment everything went wrong for next time."

"If there is a next time," you muttered.

Peter made it to Liz and tapped her shoulder.

She turned from her group of friends and immediately whispers started.

You couldn't read lips but you knew he was asking her to go out with him next Friday. He pulled out the bouquet from behind his back and a look of shock came over the closest people's faces.

You saw it in Liz's eyes: she had a choice. She could totally humiliate Peter by laughing at his face or pushing him away or loudly declaring her disgust, or she could quietly take him aside and politely decline his offer. But you could tell that either way she didn't want to say yes.

Well, she didn't get a choice.

"Wook at wittle Parker! Aww, trying to get a date, are we?" Flash Thompson stepped forward from the crowd, eyeing Peter up and down.

"That's the moment," Michelle whispered, cringing.

Your heart dropped to your stomach.
Poor Peter, you thought. You had warned him, but it still hurt to see it happen.

"And with Liz Allen! Somebody's a little ambitious, aren't we? It's adorable, don't you guys agree?" Flash turned towards the crowd of students that had gathered and urged them on. Phones were recording and flashing. Nobody wanted to miss this slaughter.

Flash turned back to Peter, who was frozen on the spot.

"Well, breaking news, Parker. Liz already has a boyfriend." And with that, he pulled her into a heavy kiss in front of everyone. A couple whoops went out and you almost couldn't look.

Liz didn't seem too into it, but she didn't push him away. She let the kiss speak for her.

She wasn't interested.

After they broke apart, Flash wiped his mouth and turned back to Peter.

"Still, I don't think that's enough. Right, guys?" The crowd whooped behind him as it became thicker. You, Ned, and Michelle all had to press in to see what was happening through the mass.

Flash smiled into some of the cameras before his fist flew at Peter's jaw.

Miraculously, Peter stepped out of the way just in time.

Flash took two more swings, both times missing Peter by inches. You felt your heart strings being pulled as Peter dodged each hit with ease.

A couple people began to laugh. Flash began to get angry. And sloppier. He threw all of his weight into his last throw, which ended up vaulting him into the floor. He started to get up, but Peter took his chance and landed one hard hit to Flash's jaw.

A girl screamed and a few teachers came rushing in, making the crowd dissipate.

Peter and Flash were dragged away by the collars of their shirts and you could only watch. After the bell rang and everyone headed to their next class, you stopped to pick up the bouquet Peter had dropped.

That's when you noticed something. There was a crack in the floor where Flash had been when Peter punched him.

It's just a coincidence, right? You thought.

You brought back to reality when the second bell rang for class.

You dismissed it and focused on what you'd say to Peter after school.

•••••

You found Peter sitting on his couch holding his hand tenderly while watching the news. You didn't see Aunt May anywhere, so she must have been late getting home from work.

"Hey, Pete."
"I don't want to talk."
"Okay, then we won't talk. You shouldn't be watching the news. It stresses you out." You picked up the remote and flipped the channel.

Peter stood up in protest.
"But-"
"Nope, you said no talking. Here, I'll put in Star Wars. I know how much you love Mark Hamill."

So the two of you sat in silence for a couple hours. Aunt May texted and said she would be out really late; errands or something like that.

When the credits started to roll, you noticed Peter had his head between his knees.

"Pete?"

When he looked up, you saw the tears in his eyes.

"Oh, Pete." You moved over and sat next to him, wrapping an arm around him.

"You were right. You were all right. I was stupid." He sniffed, wiping his face with his upper sleeve.

"I was so stupid."

"No, Peter. You are not stupid. Hey, look at me."

He sniffed again, barely meeting your eyes.

"You are not stupid. You are one of the top students in our class. If anyone's stupid, it's Liz."

"But she's-"

"I know, but for giving up the chance to date you? I'd say that's a pretty stupid move."

"Really?"

"Yeah, given the chance, I wouldn't have said no."

The room was suddenly filled with tension.

Your face turned a bright red.

"I mean, you're a great guy. Any smart girl wouldn't have said no. I mean,"
You let out a small, nervous laugh.

"I completely forgot to get ice for your hand. Be right back."

You ran to the kitchen and pulled a bag of peas out of the freezer, taking a moment to hit yourself in the head for your own stupidity. Now was not the time to tell your own crush that you liked him after he had just been humiliated by his crush.

You returned and gave the peas to Peter who hissed as he placed them on his split knuckles.

"And if I see Flash even look at you one time-"

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Peter started.

"Yeah?" You stopped.

"Stop talking." He then dropped the peas and took your face into his hands, placing his lips on yours.

It was short, and kind of messy, but you both were out of breath and smiling like idiots by the end of it anyway.

"Now that I think about it," Peter grinned, "I can do a whole lot better than Liz."

You both busted out laughing and you realized that this was gonna be one crazy story to tell Ned and Michelle on Saturday.

A/N: Hey guys! Like I said, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, and I wanted to do a Spider-Man imagine in honor of the movie coming out (technically) today, so this was the solution. Just saying, I kinda copied the fight scene from the Amazing Spider-Man. Again, requests are needed. Don't be shy!

Again, I love you guys from the bottom of my heart.

So long, my beauts!
