Scene: Steve is spontaneous? *suspicious shrug*
You frowned. Steve had promised to take you out for the day, since it was your four year anniversary, but he wasn't in his room. "Jarvis, where's Steve?" "It's Friday."
"Sorry. But, do you know where Steve is?" "Steve went out." You groaned. "Do you know where?" "I'm afraid not."
You walked across the floor towards the Avengers tower's kitchen. There, you caught Nat on the phone, looking in the fridge. You could barely hear her talking. "No, Steve, she doesn't know yet. But (Y/N)'s smart. She's going to find out sooner or later."
"I'm going to find out what?" You folded your arms. Nat turned. "Crap. Steve, I've got to go." She hung up and slipped the phone into her back pocket before she smiled at you. "(Y/N)!" She went to give you a hug. "No, Nat. What am I going to find out?" You and Nat were best friends, so you could tell she was lying even after all her years of training.
"I can't tell you." Her smile dropped. "Why not?" "It's not my secret to tell." "So what, is Steve going to tell me?" "(Y/N), don't get worked up. You'll find out soon enough."
"Besides," Wanda stepped out of the hallway and smiled at you. "We're having a girls' day out." You felt excited, but worry gnawed at your gut. "What about-" "(Y/N), Steve said we should. He wasn't able to take you out today, so he wanted us to take you out for a bit instead."
You let your complaints drop as you smiled. "Sure. I could use a day out with you guys anyway."

"So Clint chugged the whole thing?" You asked, laughing. "Yep. He had to pee for the rest of the hour. The only thing was, the facility didn't have any bathrooms!" Nat exclaimed. You all burst out laughing.
You guys had been out on the town, getting your makeup and hair done, as well as buying a gorgeous new dress. You had your hair in a beautiful bun and you had on a deep (F/C) dress that ended at your knees that accentuated your form perfectly. Suddenly, something caught Nat's eye and she looked away quickly. "What?" You turned to look. "(Y/N), no-"
You spotted Steve across the street at the florist's. He was talking animatedly to her before he hugged her and- and then he kissed her. It was quick, but it made your stomach drop and your blood turn cold. "What-" you muttered in disbelief.
Steve was familiar with the florist. She always gave him the flowers he gave you for every special occasion. He accredited your relationship's success in part to her. But, you didn't know just how much-
"(Y/N), are you okay?" Wanda placed a hand on yours, concerned. You wiped the tears out from under your glasses. You hadn't even noticed they had come. Your gaze flickered outside to where Steve was scurrying up the sidewalk, smiling like the adorable idiot he was.
"Um, y-yeah. I'm fine. Could you- um, could you drive me back to the tower? I'm just- uh, really tired." You were choking on your words as well as tears.
Nat and Wanda shared a look before they both nodded. On the drive back, you were thinking. Why would he do this?
You remembered the time you had first met him, when he spilled coffee on you. He told you it was love at first sight. Then you thought about when he asked you on the date to Adventure City and you basically cuddled on the Ferris Wheel to the song you guys now called "yours". He told you that was when he realized he would never let you go. Then there was when he helped you through your self-esteem issues. He told you that you were heaven on earth and no scars could change that.
He was everything to you. He was a gentleman, a hero, a dork, an old man, a gymnast, a sexy beast, a pb & j sandwich maker, a tickler, a Disney fan, a rainy day lover, a warm cuddle enthusiast, a man out of time, but most of all, he was yours.
Were you no longer his?

You began packing your things, throwing every article with a nasty thought.
Your blue sweatpants.
Did he ever love me?
Your black sweater.
Why did he even keep me around?
Your favorite pair of jeans.
Did I mean anything to him?
The fuzzy socks you always wear.
Was anything real?
You continued to pack until you heard a knock. "(Y/N)? Doll?"
You froze. Emotions were whizzing throughout you. You weren't able to comprehend the situation.
"Come in." It didn't sound natural. It sounded forced.
You saw Steve stick his head in and the tsunami crashed over you again.
The kiss.
Does he love me?
Was it all a lie?
What am I?
Then, it burst.
"What am I?"
"What?"
"What am I, Steve? To you?"
"I don't understand-"
"Am I a tag-along? Am I a side-chick? Am I a distraction? A toy? What am I?"
He came in and pulled you into a warm embrace. "(Y/N), you're making no sense-" "No!" You shoved him away.
"You promised that you would take me out today. It's our anniversary! Then, you cancelled and Nat and Wanda had to take me out instead. Nat was sneaking around on the phone with you about some secret 'I was going to find out soon enough'. Then, I saw you kiss the florist! Was that the secret, Steve? Was she the secret?"
You were reduced to angry tears on the floor. Steve was shocked, to say the least. He crouched down and embraced you again. "(Y/N), can you look at me? Please?"
You looked up. He smiled sadly down at you before he pushed your glasses up lovingly. "Doll, you've got this all wrong. I love you. I love you so much, it kills me. I was making plans with the florist today. I have somethin' big planned for you, and she was one of my last stops for today.
"Since I'm one of her regular customers, she made a good deal with me on your favorite flowers, so I knew you would love it." He scratched the back of his neck. "I'm sorry I got too excited. I just knew that the smile on your face would make it all worth it. Besides, the kiss meant nothing, I swear. And about Nat, she thought I'd blow the surprise since I was running the errands all last second. She was reprimanding me for not doing it earlier so I could spend the day with you, but I just got so busy. I really did miss you today. If you don't believe me, ask Nat."
You were smiling now, but you felt so ashamed for having thought he was cheating. "Oh, honey. I'm so sorry. I made such a big fuss-" "Sh sh, it's okay Doll. You had a reason. It's okay. I'm just glad I got to explain myself before I lost you."
You're heart swelled before you beamed at him. "So what's the surprise?" "We have to go out to see." He grinned at you. You frowned. "I probably ruined my makeup. Let me-" "Doll, you're gorgeous."
You smiled before he led you outside and out to the limo. You could tell it was gonna be a good night already.

Steve had taken you to your favorite restaurant and then to a drive-in theater showing your favorite romantic comedy. Then, the driver began going down an unknown road.
"Now where are we going, Steve?" He held you more tightly. "You'll see, Doll. You'll see."

Before you knew it, you were in the middle of a park. The trees surrounding it were covered in lights and a fountain portraying two lovers was spouting the middle.
You gasped. "Steven Grant Rogers, what did you do now?" He chuckled. "I don't think I've heard anyone say my full name in seventy years."
As he went around and opened your door for you, you gasped at the ground which was covered in (Your Favorite Flower). As you needed the center, he held out his elbow. You hooked your arm through, noting how good he looked in a suit.
"So, (Y/N), we've been dating for..." "Four years, Rogers, four years. Why I even bother..." You joked. He chuckled. "Four years is a long time. Within one, we've been through so much. We near death at least once a month. Life is a lot more precious to people like us." You nodded in agreement. You could kind of see where this was going.
"And my, (Y/N), you make it worth it." You laughed. "You're not so bad yourself, Rogers." "I mean it, (Y/N). When I'm in the field and I just feel like giving up, you push me forward. You make me want to live. You make me want- you make me want to be better. To be better than I am. You bring out the best in me.
"You're beautiful. You're intelligent, far more than I'll ever be." "I know." You laughed. He chuckled as well, but a bit more seriously. "You are funny. You are a wonderful person, though. That's probably what I love most. You're kind and caring and you look for the best in people even when they don't see it themselves.
"You are amazing. You're too good for me, (Y/N)." "You know it, Rogers." You just loved teasing him tonight. It was probably your way of releasing your anxiety.
"You sure do like using my last name," He stopped walking and knelt in front of you before he pulled out a beautiful ring. "Would you like to have it?"
You stayed silent for a couple seconds. For Steve, it felt like a couple hours. Finally, you broke a smile. "About time, Rogers. I mean, four years..." He put the ring on your finger slowly before pulling you in for a passionate, long kiss. When he pulled away, you gasped. "Wow, Rogers."
He put his forehead against yours as he smiled. "Well, Future Mrs. Rogers, I have been waiting forever to do that." He pulled you into his embrace and swayed a bit before he snapped his fingers.
Spotlights appeared on you guys out of nowhere. Then, the park speakers started up.
"Love me tender,
love me sweet..."
"Oh, no you didn't." You grinned.
"Oh, yes I did." He kissed you again.
•••••
You both ended up falling asleep on the park bench, only to be picked up by Nat. (She squealed when she saw you guys. Her ship sailed.) On the ride back to the tower, you woke up in the back seat with your fiancé's arm around you.
You realized that you would love him forever. You were with him.
To the end of the line.

So long, my beauts!
