Thor x Reader #2
Scene: He makes a bet with you.
"Lady (Y/N), to whom do I owe the honor of this visit?" Thor gave a low bow as you exited the elevator. You blushed. Thor had been a gentleman to you since he first met you, and it was really flattering and all, but it embarrassed you a bit. But of course, you wouldn't tell him that.
"I actually came to see you." You replied. You had recently gotten an apartment in New York, close to the Avengers Tower, so you could get there more easily. "Really? What have you come to see me for, fair maiden?"
There he goes again, with all the Asgardian formalities. If he doesn't stop, I might just faint from the awkward adorableness.
However, Thor didn't notice how it affected you. "Lady (Y/N)?" You shook your head. "Sorry, yes, right. I came to see how you were doing. I heard that things weren't going very well in Asgard and you had stopped in for a bit. So, I thought I would see if you are doing alright."
He shook his head, his smile fading a bit. "Well, the servants in the castle are doubtful and do not agree with their wages. We have tried to come to terms, but what we have to offer simply does not agree with them." You sighed in relief. "Thank goodness." You breathed. Now that, Thor caught on to.
"Why are you thanking goodness? Goodness has no part in this predicament." He was staring at you a bit confusedly. "I just thought it was something bad. You know, like a war or something." He furrowed his eyebrows. "This is terrible, Lady (Y/N). If we cannot find an agreement between the servants and ourselves, they could cause an uprising."
You shrugged. "Couldn't you just, I don't know, make the food and clean yourselves?" He chuckled and shook his head at you like you were a silly child. "You don't understand, fair maiden. Servants have been a part of our culture since the beginning. We cannot simply change our ways and let a misunderstanding change what has been tradition for eons."
You bit your lip as you dropped your gaze from his face. You didn't like it when people condescended you. It made you feel inferior and stupid. Suddenly, the God of Thunder snapped upright, making you jump. "Lady (Y/N), you have given me a marvelous idea!" His hefty voice boomed. "I know how to help the problem. Though it is not your solution, you may have helped. But, I would like to have a- um, a chat, with you."
You widened your eyes up at him. "What?" You asked. He grinned down at you, taking your shoulders in his grasp. "I must leave to Asgard immediately, but when I return, I would like to speak with you personally. Thank you!" He gave you a bone-crushing hug and was off.

About three weeks had passed, and you were practically dying of boredom. Then, you had received knews that Thor had returned. Of course, you went immediately to find him.
"Lady (Y/N)!" You smiled as he shouted your name. "Thor!" You cheered back as he crushed you in an enormous hug. "Did you solve the problem back in Asgard?" You asked as you two separated. He smiled. "Yes, thanks to you! I decided that we give the servants time off, along with bigger wages. They are now at peace and we have no current troubles in Asgard."
You nodded. "That's wonderful, Thor." Bruce Banner cleared his throat from the lab. "Thor, I'm pretty sure you were going to say something to (Y/N). And I actually want to hear what it is."
You nodded. "Oh, yeah! I remember, you wanted to talk to me after you got back." Thor looked puzzled, but then his laugh thundered through the room. "Oh yes! I wanted to make a bet with you." He said. "A bet?" You raised an eyebrow and you saw, for once in your whole existence, Thor was nervous.
"Unless, a lady of your great honor does not partake in such-" You laughed and stopped him. "I would love to take the bet. But first, you have to tell me what it is." You saw relief and color flood his features once again. "Well, you had apparently thought that a war was the worst of my worries when ruling Asgard, correct?" He asked, his eyes gleaming with... giddiness?
"Well, I wouldn't say- I simply meant... Anyway?" You fumbled your words. He grinned. "I want to prove that there can be much worse trials to leadership than a war. I want to see if you can rule Asgard for three days." You stared up at him, your stomach dropping to your feet. "W-what?" You stuttered.
"Do not worry, my Lady. I will be there with you. If things get too... out of hand, I will step in. But I want to see if you can handle three days as Ruler of Asgard." You gulped, gathering whatever sliver of dignity and courage you could summon. "What are the stakes?" He shrugged. You thought for a moment.
"If I win, I get to- uh- oh!" You giggled. "I get to braid your hair." He grinned. "That is fi-" You stopped him. "Into cornrows." Thor's eyes widened in horror. Tony had explained to him what cornrows were a while ago. "And you have to keep them in for the whole day." His jaw dropped before he sobered up and put on a forced smile.
"Fine, my Lady. You are surely a worthy opponent. If you fail your bestowed task, you must wash my clothing everyday for a week." You grimaced as he grinned. You knew how stinky and dirty his clothes get, so it wasn't going to be an easy task. "Fine. When do we leave?" You asked, mentally preparing yourself.
He made a shrugging motion. "Right now." He held you by your waist as you took off. "Thor! I could have packed! I need my things!" He shook his head with a deep chuckle as you flew over New York to a suitable spot for the bi frost.
"We have clothing and necessities back in Asgard." You grumbled as you landed and the bi frost covered you in beautiful light.
This is going to be interesting...

When you got there, they immediately dressed you up and had you taken to your chambers. Thor was smiling like a kiddy school girl the whole time while you just wanted to barf.
What did I get myself into? I'm probably gonna leave this place in ruins!
"Lady (Y/N), will you please come to the council room." A woman, apparently a servant, led you to a long hall with guests sitting around it. You were sat at a chair on the very end, with Thor on the opposite side of the table. All the guests looked at you.
Crap, what am I supposed to do?
Right then, Thor cleared his throat. "The first order of business: crop production. The farmers of the land have been getting less and less production. Lady (Y/N), what are your thoughts?" You stuttered. "I- I think that that is terrible. We should do something about it." Thor began to laugh, as did the rest of them.
Nononono! I knew I was going to fail at this!
Your cheeks flushed red. "I agree, Lady (Y/N)." Thor smiled. "Well, what do you think, Thor?" You turned it back on him. And it turned into a long, boring discussion on poverty and taxes and all that stuff about running a realm. By the end, everything was resolved and Thor came by your chambers before bed.
"You did well, fair maiden." You sighed in relief. "Yeah, well, you helped." He chuckled. "Yes I did. But I still can't wait to see what you say tomorrow as well." You nodded. "Yeah, wait, what? What do you mean tomorrow?" You yelped as he walked out. "Goodnight, my princess."
He closed the door, leaving you to the darkness. As you fell asleep, you dreamed of why Thor had suddenly changed his nickname for you.
Well, one day down, two more to go...
*****
You had to admit, ruling was hard. But, you couldn't tell Thor that. You still had the glorious image of Thor walking around public with cornrows in his hair. (Probably cowering from every passing glance.)
The next day, you had to go to two more meetings. Thor stopped you after the second one. "Will you give me the pleasure of a walk in the gardens?" He asked, holding out the crook of his arm. You hesitantly agreed, linking your arm in his as he led you around.
"How are you faring, my lady?" He asked, still looking ahead. It was beautiful in the gardens. It was nearly dusk outside, exotic birds were singing sweetly in the blossom-covered trees, and colorful flowers were blooming every which where. "I'm doing well. I just wish I could do this better."
Thor chuckled. "Are you backing out on our deal? I will make sure to muddy my robes quite well-" You laughed. "No! No! I'm just saying, I don't know how you do this every day. Being a ruler is a lot harder than it seems." Thor nodded. "I proved so."
"I guess you did." You unhooked your arm and turned to Thor. "Well, it has been wonderful. I must 'retire to my chambers' or whatever." He bowed to you, and you gave a small curtsy back. "Goodnight, my princess." You were about to ask him about it, but you decided not to.
*****
It was your last day in Asgard. You went to one meeting in the morning, and you had the rest of the day off. As you were taking a cat nap, you mean, resting, there was a knock at your door.
"Lady (Y/N), your presence is requested in the throne room immediately." One of the servants/handmaidens called. You internally groaned. "Thank you, I'll be there in a minute."
You entered the throne room, where Thor was waiting. "Great. You look magnificent." You blushed. "Oh, um, thank you. You too." He ushered you, a loose grip on your waist, out to the court yard where two gorgeous horses were waiting. "Lady (Y/N), I believe you have won our bet." You grinned in realization.
"Tony Stark requires your assistance back in Midgard, so I must return you there." You nodded as he mounted you on one horse and he mounted the other. You returned through the bi frost and entered the Avengers Tower. "(Y/N)! You're back!" Tony shouted as you came into the lab. "Why isn't his hair in cornrows? I was really looking forward to that."
You looked to Thor and it seemed he had forgotten about the cornrows. "Well, you get front row seat when I braid his hair." You grinned at Thor as Tony burst out laughing at Thor's expression.
