Nighttime Talks
"No not again." Taylor said, sitting up as she heard the baby crying again, even though she swore she just put him in his crib.
"Babe go back to sleep it's okay I'll get him." Karlie said, kissing her wife on the forehead.
As the tired girl got out of bed, she looked over at the clock, which read 3:17 A.M.
"Ugh lil guy what's wrong?" Karlie cooed at their newborn.
"Well you're dry and mommy just fed you like an hour ago so I think you're just cranky." She said, smiling at the little boy in her arms.
"Mommy would sing to you but she's sleeping and as we've learned, my singing is not at all soothing and you'll probably cry even louder." Karlie said, trying to decide how to calm him down.
The blonde-haired boy just continued to cry, seemingly unimpressed with his mother's explanation.
"Alright Eddy what if I tell you a secret?" She asked, figuring the boy would eventually fall asleep of she talked to him for long enough.
"We are going to take you to the park tomorrow so you can swing and maybe I'll even convince mommy to take you down the slide. She says she looks silly but let me tell you something, she always looks so happy once she's on there with you. She looks almost as happy as you. But anyway, we're going to the park and I'm going to surprise her with a really pretty necklace I bought her for her birthday. I'm giving it to her early so she's not expecting it. She always says she hates surprises but she secretly loves them, she just hates how easy she is to surprise. The necklace has a picture in it, it's a little locket. There's a picture of all of us in it. It's my favorite picture because we didn't know they were taking it and your mommy was looking at you and her eyes were all cute and sparkly and she's smiling like a goofball. And she's sitting in my lap and you're sitting in her lap and it's the only place I want to sit forever. I hope she loves it, of course she'll say she does no matter what but it's in her eyes, you'll learn that one day. She thinks she's a convincing liar but her eyes give away everything, when she's excited her eyes light up and they become bluer than the ocean, and when she's sad they turn greyish blue and her eyes get really big and she looks like a lost puppy and you just want to fix everything that could possibly be hurting her, when she's tired they won't stay open and she'll try really hard to keep them wider than normal but they just close and that's normally when she falls asleep in my lap," she pauses momentarily to put the boy back in his crib, as he'd stopped crying, "and I rub her arm and tell her to go to bed but and she'll tell me to carry her because she's sleepy and I'll say no at first but, I always give in because when she's tired and begging you to carry her to bed with her puppy dog eyes there's no chance you'll actually say no and mean it. She does it a whole lot now because somebody keeps her up all night. You'll be sleeping through the night soon though, I know. Until then? She's tired but she's happier than she's ever been. It's in the eyes, like I said, it's all in the eyes. She's always glowing. She's even prettier than before, I know it doesn't seem possible but it's true. Her hair is always messy and she thinks it's a problem but looks so cute when it's put up and messy and she's in those sweat pants she loves, it's the most beautiful thing ever. Basically you have the most beautiful mom in the whole world." Karlie was suddenly interrupted by a pair of hands on her waist,
"This it really all in the eyes?" Taylor asked, having snuck up on her wife.
"It definitely is, how long have you been listening?" Karlie asked, turning around to kiss her wife.
"Somewhere around my puppy dog eyes and you carrying me to bed." Taylor laughed, looking at her son over the taller girl's shoulder.
"Oh so you heard all that?" Karlie blushed, looking down.
"I did. It seemed like you were taking a long time so I figured I'd check on you, but when I heard you talking I just had to listen."
Karlie smiled, "How sneaky."
Taylor kissed her wife on the cheek before whispering in her ear, "You know your eyes give away all your secrets too. Those big green eyes can't keep a secret."
They stood there for awhile, Taylor hugging Karlie from behind, watching their now sleeping son.

Kaylor baby ☺️ I know this one's a bit shorter but I liked the idea of Karlie gushing about Taylor to their baby. What do you guys think? You know your comments mean everything to me! (Literally any comment just say whatever) Ideas/suggestions are always appreciated. Even if you just have a type of one shot you'd like. (Fluff, smut 😏, etc.)
So much love,
C <3
