5: Unwanted Memories
You hit the ball with the flat part of your arm and watched it arc over the net. On the other side, the raven launched himself into the air and sent it crashing to the ground. It slammed into the woodwork and you involuntarily winced as it did.
"[Name]! I didn't know you played!" Hinata commented.
You gave him a small smile, "I played a little in middle school, but I don't anymore."
"Really?" He asked, his eyes seemed to glow, "where did you go?"
You were silent for a moment. "...Kitagawa Daiichi," you said, although it came out as barely a whisper.
"Kitagawa Daiichi? Isn't that where Kageyama-
You hissed a 'shh' at him, cutting him off. Upon hearing his name said man cast his gaze in your direction, sending shivers down your spine and turning your knees to jelly.
"So how come you don't join the girls' team?" The orange-haired boy asked.
Again you felt his gaze on you and your tongue lost its composure. "B-because I'm s-scared of t-the b-ball."
He cocked his head and you could read his confusion like a book. You took a deep breath, "At the end of my third year, the boys and girls teams played a match for fun and on the serve, I was hit in the face."
The spiker laughed, "Really? By who?"
Your eyes darted across the court and met his, and at that moment he spun on his heel to avoid your gaze. The setter felt his visage heating up, and his ears burned, not that you had a clue.
"Kageyama?!"
You remembered it, clear as day. It was the boy with the black hair who had scared you since day one who was serving. He tossed it. Your focus shifted and suddenly your face was throbbing.
"Yeah."
