Chapter 12: sweeter than fiction
~September~
I've been in school for a month now. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm a sophomore now. My birthday is in 2 months, I'm going to be 16! I have a few friends at my new school. And I have one best friend. Her name is Maxine. But she tells people to call her max. I might even have a boyfriend. But I'm not sure, it's a little complicated. His name is Braxton. So basically he asked me out a few times and he said he really likes me. But he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend. Taylor is fine with this whole relationship. Adam... He's getting there. He doesn't absolutely hate him now, just a little. Right now Adam is on tour though. I just can't believe this life. I thought people at my new school would make fun of me for living with Taylor. And that's actually because nobody knows yet. Taylor said she's going to do a live stream of it this weekend to announce it. But I'm nervous people are going to treat me differently. And I don't want that. But, I guess we do have to tell everybody eventually. It's been so hard keeping this from my friends. I rolled over to look at the clock. It's 5:30 and a school day. I have to get up. I rolled out of my bed and went into my closet. It is a little bit chilly today. I pulled out my knitted gray sweater and white skinny jeans. I got dressed and went to my bathroom. I did my usual make up routine and curled my hair. Once I finished, I went downstairs to find Taylor already up.
"Morning Taylor!" I said as I skipped down the spiral staircase.
"Morning! You look beautiful today! Seeing your pretty curls makes me miss my curly hair. " Taylor said.
"Thanks! Then grow your hair back out!"
"No... I'm done with that phase, I need to change a bit. And besides, my hair got pretty damaged from using heat on it so much."
I nodded. I ate breakfast and went upstairs to brush my teeth. I went back downstairs and hopped into Taylor's car. Good thing she's already ready. I hope I'm not late today!! Taylor dropped me off at the front doors and I went in.
"Hi Hayden!" Braxton said.
He came up and put an arm around my shoulders.
"Hey!" I replied.
"Do you want to go somewhere tonight? I have something I've been wanting to tell you. "
Maybe he wants to ask me to be his girlfriend!!!
"Um, sure! What time?"
"I can pick you up around 6:00?"
"Yup sounds good!"
Braxton left to go to his first period class. He is a junior, and he's 16 so he can drive! I went to my locker to switch out my books. I went to all my classes feeling excited for tonight. I walked out of school at 3:00 to find Taylor waiting for me.
"Anything new happen today?" Taylor asked when I climbed into the passenger seat.
"I'm going out with Braxton again tonight. " I said.
"Are you sure? He's been asking you out for a month and hasn't asked you to be his girlfriend. "
"He said he wants to tell me something tonight. "
Taylor nodded and I turned up the radio. Wildest dreams is playing. I smiled.
"He's so tall and handsome as hell!" I screamed.
That perfectly describes Braxton. He's taller than 6 foot with blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Hey! No cussing young lady!" Taylor said.
"But you wrote it in the song!"
"I don't care! I'm older than you!"
I slumped back in the seat and crossed my arms across my chest.
Once we got home, I did all my homework and started to get ready for the date. It's only 4:00 but I'm going to redo my curls and make them tighter. I went into my closet and got out my purple silky dress. It is a little bit short. It just covers my thighs. Oh well. I slipped it on and went into my bathroom. I split my hair into 3 sections and did tight curls. By the time I finished it was 5:30. Crap! I still need to do my make up!! I quickly did my normal routine and added silver eyeshadow. I looked in the mirror. I look amazing! I went downstairs and waited by the door.
