Chapter Twenty-Two.
Tyler's POV:
"Are you okay Alaynah?"
"What do you mean?" Her voice sounded confused as ever.
"Your car, it's parked at the corner of the street. Look." I swear to god she is crazy.
"Alaynah, I remember where I left my car last night, it was at the bridge.. Not on the corner of the street."
To stop her from screaming at me to look, I look. The corner of the street. Empty. As I expected. I face Alaynah, confusion written all over my face.
"What is wrong?" Alaynah asks me.
"Alaynah, there is no car at the end of the street." I start to believe there is something up. She is too confused for it to be a joke.
Alaynah stands bolt right up.
"If you do not believe me, then I will prove it to you."
"Alaynah, I swea-"
"Whoever is wrong cooks breakfast." She winks at me. She seems so sure.
I lick my lips. Competition and the prize is to not cook?
"I'm in."
As soon as we both set a foot out of the house I notice that Alaynah rubs her eyes.
"Having second thoughts?" I smirk a cheeky one.
"Yes. I mean no. It's just. The way the sun is at the moment, there should be a shadow facing toward us from the car."
"Huh?" I am probably the most confused person ever at the moment.
"The sun is facing toward us am I wrong?" Alaynah makes sure i'm following as she explains.
I nod.
"So we should be able to see a shadow of the car."
"Uh ha." I understand now.
"But." Alaynah starts but I know where this is headed so I finish it for her.
"But you can't see one. Of course."
