Part 1

It was nearly midnight and you were starving.

You leaned up against the alley wall, counting the change you had collected.

Just enough to get you something to eat for the night.

You put the money in your pocket and peeked around the corner.

A group of drunk thugs stood by the doors of a 24/7 convenience store, talking loudly and yelling rude things at people who walked by.

Besides the gang of rowdy drunks, the street was quiet for a Saturday night. A girl passed by the group and the group shouted inappropriate things to her.

You really didn't want to deal with those guys but you were starving.

Taking a deep breath you pulled your hood up and walked out of the alley.

With your hands inside your hoodie pocket, you clutched the money tightly in your hand as you got closer to the doors of the store. The hoodie you wore was baggy around your frame. You were hoping that they would think you were a guy and not say anything to you.

As you neared the group, you felt their eyes on you. You kept your head down and counted your steps to keep you from panicking.

"Hey."

You lowered your head and quickened your pace.

"Ey, girly!"

Damn it, they were talking to you. You had nearly completely passed them and were at the doors of the store.

"Turn around you." one slurred.

Oh heck no.

You stood there with your back to them for a second before opening the door and stepping inside.

"Hey, hey, hey!" They called after you.

You hurried inside and prayed that they don't follow you in.

The cashier greeted you as you walked in. You gave a smile and made a beeline to the chip aisle.

Not exactly "food" but it was really the only thing you could get. You counted out your change again before heading to the front.

After paying for your things, you turned to leave.

Just then the doors swung open and a man walked in. You turned your head, in fear that it might be one of the drunks.

A tall blond man hurried in.
"I'm at the shop now," he said to the person on the other end of the phone.
"I know, I know, I-"
The two of you locked eyes and you felt a jolt in your chest.

You gaped at him for a moment before realizing that you were staring too long at the handsome stranger.

Grabbing the bag, you hurried out of the store. The strangers' eyes followed you as you made your way towards the door.

He smiled shyly before turning to set the cough syrup on the counter.

Once you stepped outside, the drunks were surrounding you.

"Hey, pretty thing." One slurred.
You clutched the bag tighter.

"Why so serious?" Another stepped closer.
"C'mon give us a smile."

"I don't want any trouble." You kept your eyes low.

"Neither do we."
One pulled out a knife, "Now come quietly and we won't have trouble."

You glanced down at the knife

"Come on man...no one needs to get hurt." You stared at the man dead in the eye.
They let out a laugh.
You tried to push past them but they blocked your way.
You shut your eyes.
It's okay they're drunk they probably won't remember a thing...
And with that, you shot up into the sky, high above their heads before they could do anything.
You landed safely on the other side of the street.
They looked around, dazed and confused.
You smirked before going pale.
From the store window, the man from earlier stood gaping at you.
The handsome sober man from the store had seen you fly.
Crap!
You took off running in the other direction.
"Hey wait! Ms!" A voice called from behind you.
As you ran you looked back.
The man was right at your heels.

Fuck fuck fuck! He saw me! I'm in such deep shit!!

His hand brushed against the hood of your jacket. You panicked.

Damn it!

You shot up towards the sky again. A hand wrapped around your ankle and pulled you down causing you to let out a yelp.

A strong arm wrapped around your middle, keeping you from leaving. You struggled against his strong grip, unable to break free.

"Just wait a minute!" He pleaded.

"Just let go! Please, just forget what you saw!" You begged.

"I'm not gonna hurt you! I just need to talk to-" You cut him off with an elbow to his perfectly chiseled face.

His grip loosened, giving you a chance to bolt back into the sky.

"Ma'am wait! I'm an Avenger! I can help!"

You froze. An Avenger? No way, he's joking.

Slowly you turned to look down at him. He moved towards you slowly.

"I am Steve Rogers, I can help you."

Holy shit.

"Let's talk, please." He held out his hand towards you and you hesitantly took it.

"I'm (y/n)."
