chapter one || him.
The first time I seen him, I knew trouble was coming my way. He was the kind of person I should've stayed clear of, but fate has a funny way of messing up people's plans.
He was the type of person to go out, mess around with girls then turn around and break their hearts. He had them wrapped around his finger, anything he said they would do. Too bad he never really loved them anyway.
It was hard not to stare at him as he made his way over to me, he was very handsome. He was very tall and fit, his hair was jet black but there were blonde highlight in it. It went well with his chocolate complexion. His lips were big and pink, his smile brightened up the room and his hazel eyes glistened in the light.
I must have a sign on my head that says "fuckboys come at me" because that's all I've been attracting lately.
"Hey," he said, I could barley hear him over the blasting music. My older siblings, Kevin and Shari decided to throw a party last minute. I'm not much of a party person though, I rather be alone but they said I couldn't leave the house so here I am.
"What's a pretty little thing like you doing in the kitchen all alone?" He leaned against the counter I was currently sitting on, he was a little too close if you ask me.
His breath smelt like alcohol and mint. I usually don't like the smell of alcohol that's why I don't drink, but with him I guess it was okay.
"I don't like the crowd." I shouted to make sure he heard me. He let out a throaty laugh and shook his head.
"If you don't like parties what are you doing here?"
"I had no choice but to be here, if I could I would have left before the party even started." I looked down at my shoes as I swung my feet. A piece of my hair fell in front of my face but I just left it there.
I felt his cold hand glide across my cheek as he tucked the strand of hair behind my ear. I looked up at him, the lights beaming around the house, made his eyes shine.
One eye was grey and the other was hazel with specks of grey, his eyes were changing and they were beautiful.
"If you weren't here right now, I wouldn't have been able to talk to you." I smiled softly but it soon faded away when two questions popped into my head.
What's his name and old is he?
"What's your name and how old are you?" I asked curiously.
"Devin and does my age really matter?"
"Yes, it does."
"I'm 21, how about you?"
My eyes widened. 21? I'm only 17, I know it's four years difference but still. I'm a minor and he's considered an adult.
"21? I'm 17, whatever this is," I pointed between me and him. "Can't work out so let's stop it now." I hop off the counter and stand face to face with him. Damn he's tall.
"Age ain't nothing but a number baby." Devin licked his lips and smiled.
"Yeah and my foot ain't nothing but a weapon so I advice you to stop talking to me." I push past him and walk through the living room.
The house reeked of weed, alcohol and musty smelling people, my nose burned I really needed to get out of here.
I made my way through the crowd and tried to avoid the people's sweaty bodies from touching him but fails miserably.
"Hey!" Someone grabbed my wrist tightly and pulled me to them, I looked up and seen a greasy looking man.
"I wanna dance with you." His breath was hot and nasty, nothing like devins. His hair stuck to his forehead because of all the sweaty dripping from him.
"Well I don't want to dance with you!" I took back my arm and started to walk away and but was pulled back once more.
"Look here sweetheart, when I say something you listen now let's dance!"
"Listen here bud," I dug my finger nail into him chest. "You have no control over me, if I don't want to dance I don't have too, have you ever heard of no means no!" I raised my foot and kicked him where the sun don't shine.
The man leaned over grabbing his groin, groaning in pain. A smile spread across my face, rule number one: don't mess with me.
I left the house successful and started to walk down the street. It was dark and cold, I should've grabbed a jacket but it's too late now to turn back and I really didn't want too.
I didn't know where I was going, I just let my feet do the guiding. I ended up at the park near a lake, the moon lit up the water it was quite beautiful.
I found a tree close by and sat down. Peace and quiet just how I like it. I closed my eyes and listened to how the water moved and the crickets chirping.
"You know, I still never got to know your name." My eyes shot open, I say up quickly and looked behind me, Devin.
"Did you follow me?"
"Couldn't let someone pretty like you walking the street alone." He sat down besides me but kept his head forward.
"I can take care of myself, I'm not a kid."
"You did say you were a minor and aren't minors kids?" He tilted his head towards me and smirked. I didn't say anything, I didn't know what to say.
"That's what I thought, now what's your name?"
"Serenity it means peaceful."
"That's a very pretty name, but you didn't seem peaceful when you kicked that man in his groin." I smiled a little.
"It's called self defense and don't you worry because I can do the same to you." Devin put his hands up in surrender.
"Nah, I'm good. What's your last name?"
"Why should I tell you mine when you didn't tell me yours?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Gordon."
"Huh?" Confusion was obviously written on my face.
"Gordon, that's my last name. Devin Gordon, now what's yours?"
"Is this some type of interrogation." I ran my fingers through my hair, I really need to wash it.
"Maybe." He smirked again, I wish I could just slap it off.
"Alston, Serenity Alston."
"Wait? Alston? As in Shari and Kevin Alston?"
I nodded my head. "Yeah, they're my siblings."
"Kevins one of my bestfriends along with Daniel, you know Daniel veda right?"
"Yeah I heard of him. I never heard of you though, I didn't know you were kevins bestfriend."
He got up off the ground and dusted his pants off, then leaned down to my ear and whispered. "There's a lot of things you don't know about me yet."
He moved away and started to walk back to the direction of the house. I just watched as he left.
So this is the first chapter of age, hopefully you guys enjoy the story as much as I am so far.
