Chapter 4
"Alec, I need your help!" Alec heard Isabelle's voice yelling at his door but he was sitting on the floor of Max's room while the boy did his homework and Alec studied for a biology test.
"I'm here!" He yelled back and Isabelle walked into the room as well.
"How do I turn off the microwave?" She asked. "Cause I don't know how to work the buttons and apparently put it on for ten minutes and there's already smoke coming out of it." Max started laughing.
"Jesus Christ, Izzy." Alec said and got up quickly, hurrying downstairs with his sister following. The firealarm went off because of the smoke and he cursed as he opened the microwave. "Just open it and it stops. No need to push any buttons." He told her and hurried to open the kitchen window before taking a chair and standing on it to reach the firealarm and turning it off.
"Thanks." Isabelle said, clearing the smoke with her hand and coughed. "Don't tell mom and dad, they would kill me."
"Why would I? What good would that do to me?" Alec asked. "Oh, that's right. Get rid of you, the huge pain in my ass."
"I love you too." Isabelle said. "You're my favorite brother." Alec gave her a sharp smile before walking upstairs. "I'm just kidding, Max!" She added.
"About what?" Max yelled back.
"Nothing!" Isabelle replied and Alec rolled his eyes, smiling slightly.
"So..." Magnus said as he sat down next to Alec in their history class. "What do you wanna do today?"
"Oh, uh.. Whatever." He replied. "I mean.. I don't mind. I mean whatever works. I'm just.. Fine."
Magnus laughed, probably detecting his nervousness, anyone would've. "Well, I know this great cafe."
Alec smiled. "Sounds good." Magnus managed to make him nervous as hell but there was also something very reassuring about his company and frankly, Alec liked it.
"It's on the house." Magnus said as he put their coffees on the table and Alec looked up.
"What?"
Magnus winked. "I know Liam, they guy over there." Alec looked over his shoulder at one of the employees at the counter. "We went out once, it was a disaster but we ended up being good friends." Magnus said with a laugh and Alec smiled slightly as he turned back. Magnus was gay?
"Oh. Nice."
"Let's face it, I know what you're thinking." Magnus said then. "I mean it's always when I meet new people. So, I'll just confirm it; I'm bisexual."
Alec was kinda baffled. "Oh." He wasn't sure what to say and now felt like it seemed like he wasn't somehow okay with it. "I mean that's.. Good for you." He wanted to smack himself so bad. Good for you? Who says that?
Magnus laughed lightly. "I would say so."
Alec squeezed his eyes shut briefly. "That's.. Not exactly what I wanted to say."
"What did you wanna say?" Magnus asked, sipping his coffee.
"That.. I don't know why I'm this awkward. I mean I'm totally fine with it. More than fine. I mean it doesn't matter to me, at all. Really. I just.. Am awkward." He mumbled before shutting himself up by drinking his coffee before he would add that he's way more than fine with it and kinda relieved because his stupid crush on Magnus would've felt even more stupid if he was straight.
"I get it." Magnus said with a smile. "I mean the pressure of saying the right thing is much harder than actually saying the right thing I mean I don't care what you say about it as long as it's not an insult because in that case I might have to smack you."
Alec laughed and it even surprised him. "Right." He should say it. He should tell him. "I..." No. He barely knew the guy, why would he tell him something only Isabelle knew exactly because he didn't know who to trust? No, he couldn't.
"Hmm?" Magnus asked and Alec stuttered for a while. Of course he could trust Magnus, he seemed nice and he was kinda on the same boat, why would he use that against him? He wouldn't.
"Well, I.. I mean I'm..." He looked down at his coffee. "I just.. I'm gay."
"Oh." Magnus said and Alec looked up to see him smiling. "That's good for you."
Alec laughed and buried his face in his hands, he never thought this could be so easy. He let his hands fall down. "I'm.. Not like you. I don't just tell people. In fact.. You and my sister are the only ones who know."
"Really?" Magnus asked. "Well, I'm honoured." He grinned. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone."
"Thanks." Alec said and looked down at his mug. "I mean.. I'm not really ashamed, I just.. Get enough crap at school already and telling my parents isn't really an option."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Magnus said and reached over the table to put his hand on Alec's forearm briefly. It was in a very friendly way but it made his heart skip a beat anyway. "It'll work out." He pulled back and smiled. "It always does."
"I don't know about that." Alec mumbled, biting his lip.
"I'm not saying it'll all work out perfectly well." Magnus said with a crooked smile and Alec looked up at him. "But it will. Somehow. As I said, it always does."
Alec smiled slightly. "Thanks."
"How are you home so late?" Isabelle asked as Alec walked upstairs.
"I was out." He just said.
Isabelle raised a brow and smiled. "Really?"
"With a friend." Alec added quickly.
"But thats awesome!" Isabelle said and took his hand and he frowned at her.
"You don't need to be worried about me." He said. "Mom does that perfectly enough already."
"I'm just happy for you." Isabelle said with a smile. "So.. What did you do?"
Alec shrugged and pulled his hand free. "Talked. Had coffee. Walked around."
"Was it a boy or a girl?" Isabelle asked smirking and Alec scowled.
"A boy."
"That kinda sounds like a date." Isabelle said nodding.
"You wouldn't have said that if I told you it was a girl." Alec pointed out.
"Well, of course not." Isabelle said frowning. "You don't like girls."
"Shh." Alec hissed at him.
"Alec doesn't like girls!" Isabelle yelled. "Our parents aren't home! They're driving Max to football practice after work!"
"Just shut up." Alec mumbled and went to his room but Isabelle followed.
"No, seriously, I don't want you to feel awkward. I mean about that you like boys." She said and he was just about to snap at her to shut up but she continued already. "I mean no matter what our parents think or what anyone thinks, I don't want you to think it's somehow wrong. You don't have to change a thing about yourself, some people do if they think you should."
Alec smiled slightly. "I know. Thanks."
"Besides, I used to think we have nothing in common." Isabelle said grinning. "But we both like boys!"
"Oh, God." Alec said and rolled his eyes.
"I thought our fashion sense was a huge proof that we have nothing in common, I kinda wished a gay brother would mean a brother who's actually interested in fashion." Isabelle explained.
"Don't be stereotypical." Alec replied. "That makes me feel like I suck even at being gay."
She laughed. "I'm just kidding! You're good at being gay!"
"You need to stop." Alec told her. "Like right now."
"Fine! Okay!" She said and sat down on his bed. "So, what would you like to talk about?"
"I wanna do my homework." Alec replied.
"You're weird." Isabelle told him.
"In peace." Alec added.
"I got it, bye!" She said, walking out and he rolled his eyes.
AN: I liked this chapter because Alec and Izzy are sibling goals and I love them and some cute Malec! I also kinda liked the 'the pressure of saying the right thing is much harder than actually saying the right thing' because at least I know how true that it. As wished; you guys will get Magnus' POV soon! :)
