❦Chapter 6❦
Once both girls got off the elevator on the way to Maya's room, they were approched by a blue persian cat. The blue feline hissed at Riley for two reasons. One, she was a mundie, atleast thats all he knew. Two, he's never seen her before. The brunette looked at the cat confused on it's fur color, but unfased by it hissing at her.
"Maya.... Why is the cat- Blue?" She questioned. Maya smiled and bent down to pet the cat.
"I'm not sure, but I bet my parents know. But this is Church" Maya smiled as she pet Church's head. Riley smiled softly at the cat while it glared at her. The brunette then tried to pet Church but he swatted at her.
"Church! Naughty cat!" The blonde scolded. She then took the other girl by the hand leading her to her room. They walked in a comfortable silence, but when they walked into the room, multiple questions formed in Riley's mind.
"Maya? Why am I here, and why did Missy turn into a monster?" Riley asked her blonde friend.
"Well, for one, Missy wasn't a monster. She was a demon. Technically she's not dead, but you're obviously her target. But why, I don't know" Maya explained. Riley also had touched her sereph blade, yet it didn't retract when the brunette touched it.
"But demons aren't real" Riley protested. Maya smirked and got close to her friend's face.
"Let me tell you something Matthews. All the legends are true" The blonde said. Riley was a bit taken back by how close Maya was to her face, yet it made her heart flutter.
"W-what do you mean?" Riley asked. Maya sat normally on her bed and made room for the brunette to sit next to her.
"Vampires, werewolves, demons, worlocks, and shadowhunters. They're all real" Maya replied.
"But whats a Shadowhunter?" Riley asked as she sat next to the shorter girl.
"Well, Shadowhunters are beings with blood of the Angel" Maya paused and guessed what her friend would say next.
"And by the Angel I mean- Well exactly what it sounds like. But you Riley Matthews, are a Shadowhunter" Maya smiled. Riley stared at the girl in confusion.
"What? No. I can't. I'm not" The brunette rambled. She jogged her mind for any proof but got nothing.
"But you are. When you picked up my blade... It didn't retract. Its a sereph blade. Only beings with blood of the angel can hold it" The blonde said, attempting to convince her friend. She wasn't so sure, but it was likely.
"That must've been a coincidence Maya, I doubt I have that 'blood'" Riley said, not believing anything Maya had said. Maya looked at the brunette and walked over to her nightstand that happened to have a Sereph blade on it.
"Here, pick this up, but hold it out when you do" The blonde said.
"But there's nothing there, that's not anything like the one from earlier" Riley said confused.
"Riley, just trust me. Please." The blonde said. With that, the taller girl took the small empty log like object and held it out.
"Maya, nothing's happening..." Riley said quietly but the blade sprung to life. The brunette wasnt used to the blade and dropped it tho the ground, making a loud banging noise.
"I knew you had it in you" Maya smirked. Riley looked at the shorter girl and smiled at her.
"I guess I am a- a Shadowhunter" She murmured as both girls heard footsteps coming down the hall.
"How about I teach you how to use it?"
"Sure"
