Sitting in his uncle's tower, Ares held his beer tightly in his hands. He and his sister were finished being introduced to the Avengers, which they were now apart of. The majority of the group were surprised to find that Tony had a niece and nephew, but the twins didn't take it to heart. They knew their uncle.
It had been a year since the collapse of SHIELD, but still the group kept on going. Ares and Astraea worked by themselves during the year, investigating different Hydra leads. They assumed the Avengers were doing the same and now they were proved right.
"So," Natasha Romanoff hummed as she sat next to Ares on the black leather couch, breaking his train of thought. She was wearing black jeans with a tight red shirt, staring at Ares's black attire that complimented her own. "You and your sister."
"What about it?" Ares's hard exterior got even harder as he glanced at the woman beside him. Natasha simply rose an eyebrow, not shocked by his stern facade. Raising an eyebrow, she silently asked him. "You've seen our file, no doubt. Ask Tony if you want anything else."
Giving him a half smirk, Natasha shook her head. She was sideways on the couch, her legs tucked behind her and her arm holding her head up on the spine of the leather seat. Ares was forward, his hands twirling his beer bottle around in boredom. "You excited to become Avengers?"
"What's there to be excited for?" Ares questioned as his eyes darted to her own to stare her down. He wasn't intimidated by her, instead indifferent. "Astraea and I were already agents, now we're bumped up to be in a band of misfits. It's the same job with more people in it. There's not much difference."
Natasha nodded her head while flipping her hair behind her. The Stark man turned his head back to the front, staring at nothing. He was guarded, from what she didn't know. Although, they both knew that they weren't going to pry. Ares wouldn't indulge himself in her past and neither would Natasha. It was respectful but wary, their silence, but it continued until Natasha spoke, "I think we're going to get along just fine."
"As do I," Ares turned his head to the side to look at the red haired woman. Her deep red lips were pulled into a smirk as she lifted her glass to her lips and took a sip. Ares did the same with his beer and took another swig of the tasteless drink.

Astraea held her pool stick in her hand as the other was positioned on the green carpeted table. A dangerously beautiful smirk played at her red lips. Her dark eyes calculating the table that held the balls and her smirk grew. Leaning her elbows down on the table, she teased, "I hope you know I'm going to win."
"Doubt it," Clint Barton replied with a husky voice. His own eyes were moving over the table as well, taking in the amount of solids still on the table. Silently groaning he noticed that there was only one striped ball left. "How are you so good at this?"
A laugh sounded from behind the two. Clint's eyes flittered up to the captain that sat on one of the surrounding tables to watch the game. Steve Rogers took a sip of his drink before lifting his hand up and pointing to the girl, "I call playing the winner."
Clint muttered insults as he positioned himself. His stick pulled back and slid across the cue ball only enough for it to fall into a pocket. His mouth dropped open and he dropped the stick to the ground, holding his hands up as he shouted insults. "She cheated! I don't know how, but she cheated!"
"Don't be such a baby, Clint," Astraea laughed along with Steve as she retrieved the ball from its pocket. Aligning it with the purple striped ball, she watched with satisfaction as it sank into the pocket. Moving along the side of the table she winked to Steve before lowering herself into position. Moving her stick back, Astraea hit the cue ball hard enough that it flew to the eight ball. The sound of it sinking into another pocket made Astraea laugh. "Sorry, Barton, looking like you owe me fifty bucks."
"I can't believe this," he muttered and glared at the grinning girl. Barton shook his head as he dug into his pocket to pull out his wallet. Two crisp twenty dollar bills were pulled out and placed into Astraea's awaiting hands. Her perfectly shaped eyebrow rose as she was waiting for the rest of her money. Holding up another twenty, Clint shook his head, "I only have a twenty."
"That'll do," Astraea sang as she swiped it from his hands. Clint glared and tried to swipe at her but Steve got between them. His reprobative look towards Clint made Astraea make a face at him from behind Steve's large build.
Astraea skipped over to her brother, sitting on his other side, showing off her money. It was then that Natasha stood and made her way over to her friend. Clint had his arms crossed and a glare towards the girl on the couch and he spoke to Natasha, "I was just beat in pool by a twelve year old."
"They'll do," Natasha grinned and patted his shoulder before making her way to Steve.

Sokovia was just as cold as Ares expected. He was in the back of the jeep that Natasha was driving with Clint, shooting arrow after arrow. Blue beams were coming from all angles and they were dodging the attacks expertly. Thor took out the jeep next to them, the three giving him a nod of thanks.
Astraea was almost regretting agreeing to be on Steve's bike with him. Almost. While it was a bumpy ride, her whip was coming in handy. She shot it out and grinned when it wrapped around a man and pulled it towards her and watched as he flew behind the two.
"Hold on!" Steve yelled after Astraea did so. The younger woman did as told, her hands wrapping around his muscular abdomen. He had thrown his shield at one of the bunkers and it exploded and now they had to catch the weapon. Steve revved the engine and they climbed a small hill before jumping off of it and landing on the bottom, with the shield.
"Remind me to never ride with you again!" Astraea laughed with adrenaline. Steve turned the bike when he saw Thor land and crash a jeep and the Hulk catching it. Maneuvering around Steve, Astraea was almost in his lap to grab the gun in the holster on the engine. She turned and shot at the tires of the jeep following them and it exploded.
Ares was shooting the men that were surrounding him without mercy. Seeing his sister out of the corner of his eye, he turned and shot a man about to jump her with Clint. Astraea turned and sent him a smile before holding onto to Steve.
The three in the jeep jumped out of it, coincidentally in sync with the other Avengers. The two rode on the bike until Astraea saw a large number of men and pressed a kiss to her hand and pressed her hand to Steve's cheek. "Thanks for the ride, hun."
"Shit!" was heard over the coms from Tony. He had flown overhead to the building to see if he could get in to grab the scepter so they could leave, but he ran into an issue apparently.
"Language," Steve's voice came next as he still rode on the bike. "Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?"
"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield. Stucker's technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken."
Astraea swung her whip around as she readied herself for the men about to jump her. Her twin came from behind her, they were back to back ready to fight together. Ares pulled his arm back as he shot an arrow at one man that pulsed an electric shock to the three men surrounding him.
Kicking one of the men, Astraea grinned as he fell to the ground. She landed with one of her legs straight and the other bent to hold her weight. Ares turned to his little sister, slightly out of breath and with an expression on his face she couldn't decipher. "You're not going to like this."
"Like what?" she questioned. Ares bent down and crossed his wrists to grab Astraea's opposite hands. Yanking, he pulled until her torso was out of the snow. Realizing what was going to happen, Astraea glared up at her grinning brother. "You owe me big time."
They waited until a full circle had formed around them until they began. Speaking was heard over the coms, but they were too distracted to actually hear it. Ares's long fingers curled around Astraea's wrists and she swallowed once while looking him in the eyes. "Ready?"
When she nodded, Ares used all of his strength to bring her off of the ground and twirl her in a circle. Her feet hit every one of them in the face as Ares continued to spin Astraea. This continued until every single one of the men were on the ground passed out. Ares, not knowing how to stop, let go of his sister mid-spin and watched her fly. Astraea let out a single scream as she started the descend back to the snowy, tree filled ground.
Arms caught her right before she hit the ground and Astraea grew very pissed. After getting placed on the ground, Astraea hit Ares shoulder. "I can't believe you! I was doing all the work and you just threw me!"
"I didn't realize how light you were," Ares defended himself as he chuckled a bit. Raising his eyes above Astraea's head, he saw something he didn't like. Astraea's eyes moved behind Are's and saw two soldiers behind him. Glancing at each other they spoke in sync, "Behind you."
Ares and Astraea did a move they've been practicing since they were ten. Astraea ducks under Ares's arm as he reaches for his bow and arrow and she pulls out a gun Ares keeps in the back of his pants. She positions it and shoots twice at the men at the same time her brother shoots a man with his bow.
"Wait a second. Is no one else gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said 'language'?" Tony asked over the coms when the twins started listening again.
"I know," Steve paused and a bit of action could be heard. A sigh came from the older man as he responded to Tony, "It just slipped out."
Moving her arm back down to her side, Astraea laughed and turned to her brother. The twins started to walk to find some more action. They took out soldiers whenever they saw any, taking shelter if they needed it. After shooting an arrow, Ares looked up to his uncle's suit. "Tony, get me into the building."
"Why?" he questioned his nephew as he ducked below the trees to grab him. Tony landed and shot a jeep out with his hands before telling Ares to tighten up. Ares did as told and started shooting from above.
"I've got a new arrow that should take out the energy shield," Ares informed him while shooting a man before he got to Natasha.
Jumping on a man, Astraea used her thighs to squeeze his neck while bending backwards and grabbing a man by his shoulders and flipping herself over him. The man between her legs was down and Astraea landed behind the second soldier who's shoulder's she held. Sending a good kick between the legs, Astraea watched him fall to the ground. "You couldn't have mentioned that earlier, W?"
"I was a little busy carrying the dead weight, J," he responded while shooting arrows to different little forts that were shooting at himself and Tony so they couldn't get close to the building.
"Clint!"
"We have an Enhanced on the field."
Astraea groaned before she started walking. She was isolated from the Avengers, coincidentally, and she held a gun in both of her hands and she shot two men on either side of her before responding. Her leather pants and jacket hugged her body, but she was still getting dirt and smoke all over her. "He's going to come for me next, isn't he?"
"¿Necesitas ayuda?" Ares asked as he shot an arrow towards the force field. His eyes scanned the ground, but all he could see were trees because Tony kept climbing higher and higher.
"No," she replied while twirling her guns around. A sound came from behind her and Astraea moaned before cracking her neck and placing her guns on her thigh holsters. Deciding her whip would be used best, she got it out and it cracked in the silence.
None of the men were around her, but Astraea knew the Enhanced was around her. Just as she was about to speak, a force made her fly into the air and she had to do a quick front flip to not fall on her face. Her knees were submerged in the snow, cooling her sweating body. Astraea closed her eyes and took a few calming breaths, ignoring the sounds over coms.
A sound came from her left and Astraea's whips cracked once again as it connected to the Enhanced. It was a boy that fell to the ground. He looked around her age and Astraea moved quickly to stand next to him. He had a blue aura trickling around him with blonde hair and brown roots, he winked up at her and spoke with a thick accent. "You were so close, красивая."
And with that, the Enhanced boy sped off into the forest. Grumbling out a noise of distaste at the fact he called her beautiful, Astraea pulled out her gun in one fluid motion and shot a soldier that was trying to sneak up on her from her left.
-
Tony dropped his nephew onto the snowy ledge after the energy shield was disabled. Ares rolled until he was on his knee and he pulled out an arrow that had a rope that swung around the two soldiers in front of him and forced them off the side of the building.
"Jarvis, are we closing in? Do you see a power source for that shield?" Tony asked his AI. While Ares's way was working, it was only for a short time.
"There's a particle wave beneath the north tower," Jarvis responded while the two Stark men fought.
Ares ran until he reached a large foyer that was full of soldiers. Groaning, he shot arrow after arrow at them. When one got too close, he fought with hand to hand combat, but he was tiring. After most were down, Ares spoke over the coms, "Tony, come get me before you go and poke it."
"This is going to be some great uncle-nephew bonding time," Tony spoke as he picked his nephew up and flew them towards the north tower. "Ready, Ares?"
Waiting until Iron Man's arms were around his stomach, Ares pulled back his bow and readied his shot. Aiming to the rock under the tower, Ares shot the arrow and the Starks watched the shield fall for real.
"The drawbridge is down, people."
Astraea was still fighting soldiers as she listened into the conversation. Jumping up, she kicked a man before landing on her feet. Two more popped up and she kneed one of them in the stomach and grabbed the back of his shirt to keep him down and jumped to kick the other in the face while landing on the first.
"Clint's pretty hurt guys. I think we need evac," Romanoff's voice came and Thor quickly replied that he could bring him back to their jet.
When the Stark woman started walking again, she saw the hoard of soldiers coming her way. Sighing, Astraea held a hand to her com, "Could someone come my way and help me. I've got a lot of men lining up for me and I can only take so much attention."
"Find the scepter," Thor instructed the captain before shooting into the air after the two took out their own group.
"And for gosh sakes, watch your language!" Tony's voice rang throughout their ears.
The big guy came from behind Astraea and destroyed the entire group in front of him. The Hulk dominated the five tanks rolling towards the two and Astraea nodded at her small break. He grabbed Astraea and she readied herself as he was about to throw her. She groaned, "Steve, please prepare yourself for the rain of a single woman that's coming your way."
After she was launched into the air, Astraea rolled to make sure Steve would catch her on her back. Cap jumped on a tree and caught the girl before landing on the ground with Astraea in his arms. "That's not going away anytime soon, is it?"
Patting his shoulder with a small smile, she shook her head. "No, but, hey, at least no one's throwing you around like you're a doll."
-
Tony broke through a window and twenty or so men started shooting their guns at him. Ares came through the door from behind the men and started to shoot them with his arrows at his uncle spoke, "Guys, stop. We gotta talk this through."
Between the two Starks it took them under a minute to end the shooting. Ares looked at his floating uncle with a shrug and a small smirk, "It was a good talk."
"No, it wasn't," a solider groaned as he held his leg that had an arrow through it. Multiple other soldiers said the same thing as they held their own wounds.
"If you don't shut up I'll stick you with another arrow," Ares threatened as he pulled out an arrow and strung it through his bow. He was glaring at the men, annoyed with them.
"I love how I know that you're my nephew," Tony spoke with pride in his voice and it made Ares roll his eyes. The two made their way to a small room and saw a man sitting at a computer. Ares scanned the area with his bow, ready to shoot anything that moved. When he was satisfied he turned and saw his uncle out of the suit and closing in on the computer.
The Iron Man suit used its hand to light the area surrounding the Starks. Tony pulled out a small hard drive and plugged it into the computer. "Sentry mode. Okay, Jarvis, you know I want it all. Make sure you send a copy to Hill at HQ."
"They're hiding more than files," Ares glanced at his uncle from where he was leaning on the wall beside the Iron Man suit. The two heard that the ground was secure and Natasha was giving the Hulk a lullaby so they were closing in on their time gap. Ares's arms were crossed and his thick eyebrows were raised as he lifted his head up to lean on the brick. He rolled his eyebrows and watched his uncle.
"Hey, J, give me an IR scan of the room, real quick," Tony instructed and the suit complied. A red light scanned the room and the two watched it.
"The wall to your left," The two Starks moved towards the wall. "I'm reading steel reinforcements and an air current."
The older Stark pleaded for the room to be a secret door and, low and behold, when Ares pushed the wall it moved. As they walked down a small tunnel, lit with light, Ares rose an eyebrow to his uncle, "It was a secret room."
"We have a second Enhanced. Female. Do not engage." Steve and Astraea quickly took down Strucker after they were pushed down some stairs by the Enhanced girl. Astraea made a comment about how the Enhanced seemed to keep kicking their asses. They quickly informed the rest of the Avengers they took down Baaron Strucker.
The two male Starks walked into a large room, they were shocked to what they found. A huge Chitauri ship was hanging from the ceiling. Tony spoke softly, "Yeah, well, I think we have something bigger."
They saw different stations that held metal items that Ares didn't understand, so he started moving to the side. He saw the scepter surrounded by little blue electric pulses. "Thor. I've got eyes on Loki's scepter."
"Ares!"
Ares heard his name being screamed from his uncle, so he turned around just in time to see a small girl, the Ehanced Steve warned him about, with red eyes and pulsing red energy being transferred into his head.
