Chapter 6
"Y/N! Where were you? Why did you not answer my calls? Why are you covered in snow?" Your mother asks as soon as you walk through the front door with your two cousins trailing behind you.
"I was in the woods. My phone ran out of charge. It's snowing." You answer all her questions.
Your mother opens her mouth to say something, but you cut her off. "I know. I'll go upstairs and get cleaned up." You slip your shoes off and walk up the stairs.
You take a warm shower, dry your hair and get changed into a woolly sweater and a skirt & tights.
"So, Y/N, who was that guy?" Abigail asks, walking in with her cup of tea.
"What guy?" You sit down on the bed beside her.
"The guy that you were totally about to snog before Sarah and I interrupted." Abigail smirks.
"I don't think-"
"Don't worry, N/N, we won't tell your mother. But it better not happen again, you're engaged. Who was he though? He's cute."
"His names Phil." You sigh happily at the thought of him.
"Is he single?"
"Why?"
"You're not the only one who needs to get married."
"I wouldn't say I need to get married. And yes, he is single. But I can tell you, your mother and father would not approve."
"Why not?"
"He's not rich."
"Then what's the point? Why are you friends with him then?"
"Because he's funny, and smart, and he's showing me interesting things. Did you know that a husband and a wife can both get jobs? Or that people can actually play in the snow? It's really fun!"
"A woman can work?"
"Yeah! Apparently it's been that way for aaaaaages. Like ages. He was surprised at how little I knew about normal people."
"You mean peasants."
You know she didn't completely mean for that to be funny, but you let out a small giggle.
"I'm serious Y/N. You should stop talking to him before your mother finds out."
"Why?"
"Because she would go mental. Remember when you were four and she shouted at you for trying to befriend somebody's dog?"
"Are you calling Phil a dog?"
"You're missing the point. Our family flips their shit when you try to converse with lower class citizens. Why do you think we went to private school?"
"You're right... But I want to keep finding out what normal people our age do! Cleaning, cooking, video games, music. I need to know more! I don't just want to live in the same bubble as the rest of you people. I want to know what the people of this world are doing!"
"Alright. But for the record, I tried to stop you. Don't blame me when the res of this family finds out and disowns you." Abigail gets up and leaves.
"Oh, hi Abi." Your mother smiles at Abigail as the two of them slide past each other. Your mother enters your room sand takes a look at you. "N/N, get changed."
"Why?"
"We're going out to that nice seafood restaurant."
"With who?"
"Abigail, Sarah, your father, Darren, Darren's mother - Carol, Darren's father - Dave, Darren's brother - Antoni, Darren's sister - Anna, Aunt Angela and Uncle Isaac."
"Ugh. So many people."
"Shut up and get changed. I'm thinking that green dress."
"Kay." You sigh, get up and walk over to your closet as your mother inspects the flower in the vase on your bedside table.
"Where'd you get this ugly thing?"
"It's not ugly. I think it's nice." You take out the green dress your mother was talking about.
"It's a weird colour. Is this the one from the flower shop?"
"Yeah."
"Did you just take it? You're not allowed to do that you know."
"I payed for it."
"Good. Why did you get it thought?"
"Can you please leave? I need to get changed."
"Of course. Don't be long."
.................................................................
"So, have you guys picked the location for the wedding yet?" Aunt Angela asks at dinner.
You're currently in a mini conversation with Aunt Angela, Darren, Antoni and Abigail.
"No, not yet. I don't know when we're doing that." You say.
"I think it's in a few days though." Darren smiles.
"What are the options?" Abigail asks.
"Well... There's quite a few churches, or the Dimon hotel. Oh, there's also what's it called... some mansion... and a castle as well." Darren says.
"Why can't we have it outside?" You ask.
"Because it's cold, and that's not how people get married." Darren rolls his eyes.
"It would be nice though."
"No it wouldn't."
"I personally wouldn't go to an outside wedding." Antoni says.
"Yeah, me neither." Aunt Angela says.
"Well then."
"Guys, I would like to propose a toast." Your father catches everybody sitting at the table's attention.
"To my daughter, and my future son in law. I could not be happier that the two of them are together. There is no man I would rather want to see my daughter marry. To the soon to be Mr and Mrs Winters."
Mr and Mrs Winters.
Mr and Mrs Winters.
Mr and Mrs Winters.

"May I please be excused?"
