"You can move your boxes over there," Dan said to me, pointing to a corner. "We can unpack later."

Dan had invited me to stay with him and Phil while I was at uni.

"Alright," I replied placing the cardboard box next to the couch.

He was walking around frantically, looking for something.

"What are you looking for?" I asked amused.

He looked up at me, and gave me a reassuring smile.

"My wallet, have you seen it?"

I shook my head. "Sorry."

He sighed and went to the back room. Not sure what to do, I sat down on the couch. An array of movies and video games were scattered across the coffee table. I chuckled to myself, continuing to scan the living room when Dan shout interrupted me.

"Found it!" he shouted running back into the living room.

I laughed. "That's great. Good for you."

He rolled his eyes and sat next to me, going through his wallet.

"Get ready. I'm taking you and Phil to a restaurant so both of you can get to know each other," he told me, pulling out a credit card.

My face lit up. "Alright. I'll be back."

I quickly grabbed my suitcase and went to my room.  Unzipping it, I grabbed an outfit I thought would leave a nice impression with Phil.

"Chelsey? Are you ready yet? You've been in there forever it seems like," Dan asked from outside the door.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine," I replied fiddling with my fingers. Nerves were starting to kick in. What if Phil didn't like me? I mean, I'm a likeable person, but what if I say something to offend him? Or, say something accidentally rude? I bit my lip, thinking about the many possibilities.

"Alright, I'm coming in," Dan announced turning the doorknob. He bombarded in, his eyes shielded with his hand.

"Is it safe to look?"

I snickered at him. "Yes, Daniel."

He removed his hand, looking me up and down. "You seem ready. Let's go. Phil's waiting."

"Wait," I blurted out. "What - what if he doesn't like me?"

He smiled. "Chelsey, what are you on about? He'll love you."

I shrugged, following him to the living room. Phil was there, as he said, on his phone.

"Ready to go?" Dan asked him. He looked back at us and nodded. We all headed down the apartment stairs to the outside.

We walked to the restaurant, waiting in line awaiting us at the entrance.

Dan must have noticed how tense I was, him linking his hand with mine, giving it a light squeeze.

After waiting around ten minutes we finally got a booth. I sat closer to the window, Dan siting next to me and Phil across from us.

"So," Phil spoke up. "Any favorite animals?"

I smiled. "Hm, maybe a dog."

He smiled as well. "Awesome. Did you know that Gidget is the name of the Taco Bell dog? Anyways, mine are lions if you didn't know."

"Lions?" I asked. His smiled faded a bit.

"Um, yeah."

I realized that probably came out wrong by my tone of voice.

"Oh! I didn't mean it as a bad thing," I quickly corrected myself.

"It's alright," he replied laughing nervously.

I let out a quiet laugh. Great going. Messing up before we even ordered.

As if on cue, a waitress walked up to our table.

"Hello! Can I take your order?" she asked sweetly. We nodded, giving her our orders.

"This is amazing," I said to them with my mouth full. Phil cringed, continuing his meal.

I quickly shut my mouth, chewing silently. Are you kidding me?

"Um, why don't you tell Chelsey about our trip to Tokyo?" Dan asked Phil, breaking the awkward silence.

"Ah! Yeah, it was incredible, let me tell you," Phil exclaimed, his happy smile growing across his face. A wave of relieve crossed over me.

We finished our meal and payed, so we decided to head back to the apartment.

"Well, I'm going to head to bed," Phil addressed us once we were in the living room.

"Alright, goodnight," Dan told him, hanging his coat on the hangers. Phil left, causing me to take a deep breath.

"Now, that wasn't that bad, now was it?" Dan asked smiling.

I looked at him with disbelief. "Are you kidding me? I completely made a fool of myself!"

His smile curved into a smirk.

"I insulted and disgusted him! I regret everything," I went on, putting my hands on my head.

He pulled my hands to his neck, placing his around my waist. "Trust me. You didn't."

I shook my head. "I feel horrible."

His dark brown eyes stared at me with interest. "I can make you feel better."

My eyes widened. "What was that?"

He lead me to his room, closing the door behind him.

Let your imagination lead you the rest of the way since I want my small sliver of innocence to stay intact.

I woke up to the smell of pancakes and syrup. I turned over to see Dan still asleep.

"Wake up, I smell food," I whispered to him.

He opened his eyes, groaning. "Five more minutes."

I rolled my eyes, getting up from the warm covers to the cold hardwood flooring.

"Come back," he groaned again. "You're warm."

"I'm getting pancakes, thanks," I said to him, slipping on his Christmas sweater even though it wasn't even close to Christmas.

He mumbled, getting up as well. After we got ourselves together (*cough*) we made our way to the kitchen.

"Good morning," Dan greeted Phil. Phil jumped back from the sudden voice, but quickly relaxed.

"Uh, yeah, hey."

He still seemed pretty tense. I wonder why.

We all grabbed the pancakes Phil expertly made for us and sat on the couch.

"Hey guys," Phil spoke up as we picked a morning movie.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Could you, um, keep it down next time? These wall are as thin as paper."

Dan almost choked on his pancake.

"Sorry, oh my God," I said covering my face with my hands. He nodded, quickly eating another bite of his breakfast.
