The vacation couldn't have been more awkward, after the night of apologizing Elliot and Olivia were more guilty than they did in the first place.
It was there last night there and the family couldn't have felt more closer.
"Auntie Liv! Get in the water!" James screamed in joy as he splashed around in the water.
Olivia laughed lightly and made her way to the shallow water. She pushed her sunglasses up her nose and smiled as she looked at the view.
Elliot watched Olivia walk away, all they've exchanged were awkward glances and forced small talk. He missed her deeply despite the fact that they've been together the whole weekend.
Claire noticed Elliot and smiled. She made her way to stand beside him and nudged teasingly.
"Oh hey Mama Claire." He immediately looked away.
She giggled. "Busted."
Elliot laughed nervously but kept his eyes fixed on anything else but Olivia.
"Look, Elliot. I know you two are fighting." She brought up.
He shook his head. "We're not fighting."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "I don't believe it. You two have been avoiding one another this whole weekend, I'm not blind."
Elliot didn't reply but let out a sigh.
"It's not worth it." She told him.
"I know." He replied in a quiet tone, genuinely agreeing with her.
"You love her, right?"
He hesitated but nodded his head.
"Then that should be enough reason to talk to her. I can tell that she hates it by the way she's acting it shows how upset she is." She rested her arm on his shoulder. "You're such an important person to her and you're important to us as well, it would be a shame for her to loose you."
He nodded and threw an arm over her shoulder with a grin on his face. "Thanks Mama Claire."
She shrugged him off and basically lightly shoved him. "Talk to her."
"Later." He told her and was about to walk away when Owen, Paul and Mark stood in his path.
Elliot abruptly halted and looked at them in confusion.
"Come on, Elliot. We could do this the hard way or the easy way." Owen told him in a stern voice.
"Are you serious?" He asked in disbelief.
Their faces remained hard as they stared him down.
He stood there for a bit. "Alright alright." And with that he made his way to Olivia which seemed like it was taking decades for him to walk towards her.
Elliot knew that he wanted to talk to her and he didn't know why he waited until now to do it, maybe he just needed the encouragement. A lot of it. He wasn't sure what he was going to say or what he was going to do once he stood beside her but he knew that Mama Claire was right. Finally he stood beside her.
Her eyes subtlety glanced over at him and tried to suppress a smile.
He let out a sigh and in hushed voice said. "You do know that I love you, right?"
Suddenly she could feel her heart race at what he said, she bite down on her lip and began running her large belly. "I guess."
Elliot turned to look at her. "Well, I do. I love you a lot because you're my best friend." There was nervousness in his eyes but he tried to remain calm.
She looked down and nodded, her heart now aching remembering that she was just his best friend and nothing more.
"And I want to be here for you because you've been there for me all my life." He continued, his eyes fixated on her.
She slowly looked up at him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said those things to you. I was just feeling a lot of things and put them all out on you."
"I'm sorry too."
"For what? You've only been caring towards me and Celeste, how could you be sorry for doing that?" She threw her arms in distress.
"I didn't give the space that you clearly needed." He explained to her. "And you were right, I shouldn't insert myself into Celeste's life."
Olivia cousins believe she said that to him, that was the last thing she wanted. "It's already too late for that."
They continued to look at one another.
When suddenly Olivia splashed Elliot with water, a large grin forming on her face as a look of shock covered his face. He was now soaked. She wagged her finger towards him. "Don't you dare."
He was ready to splash her back but he knew she would turn into the Hulk if he did. "Fine." But instead he hugged her tightly, her clothes and skin getting wet as well.
"Elliot!" She screamed loudly as she laughed, she tried to move away from him but he continued to hug her now.
He stopped and looked down at her with a pout. "That's unfair."
She stuck out her tongue at him and ran her hand through his wet hair. "You've made this whole experience worth while." She smiled as she cupped his cheek in her palm. "Thank you."
He smiled lovingly at her, feeling his knees buckle at touch of her hands. "I would do anything for you."
Her cheeks burnt red but played it off by hugging him. "I couldn't have asked for a better best friend." She muttered.
A frown formed on his face once he heard those words but he brushed it off and hugged her back.
Suddenly loud cheers were heard and it was their family clapping loudly.
"That was easy." Owen remarked as he nodded in pride.
Elliot and Olivia pulled away and looked at them, their hearts once again feeling heavy at their lie. Knowing that the day was coming when they would finally tell the truth.
Claire was holding her phone as she captured their moment, she had a massive grin on her face. "Keep going so I can take more pictures!"
Olivia blushed in embarrassment. "'Mom!"
"Just one more pose!" Mark added.
Everyone shocked to hear that coming from him as their eyes fell on him.
He looked back at everyone and shrugged. "The pictures look quite nice."
Suddenly Elliot pulled Olivia close and kissed the side of her temple while a look of happiness was on her face.
"We need to tell them, Liv. It's killing me" He whispered as his lips lightly rested on her temple.
She moved away from him so she could look up at him. "It's killing me too."
"Beautiful!" Claire clapped her hands together.
"Now Alex and Riley!" Odette announced.
"No way!" James protested, running towards Riley hugging her legs tightly once he got to her.
Everyone laughed seeing James rush towards Riley like he was going to loose her.
