"Wait Mir don't walk so fast." I grabbed his hand as we walked through the hallway of a hotel
"Mir here." I heard someone yell as we walked into a pair of double doors
"Who are they?" I whispered to Mir
"Aye y'all come in here. Bring everyone."
4 girls and who I'm guessing are their boyfriends walked into the main area.
"This hea' is Rose. Rose they ma highschool friends and they ladies. They who I wanted ya to meet. Ma family."
"Damn Mir about time. He only brought one girl other than you to meet us. You special ma."
"Is she pregnant?"
"Yeah. She pregnant. My babies so pretty." He whispered the last part toward me with a smirk
"Congrats man."
"Thank ya patna. Y'all ready?"
"Rose?"
I looked over at the girl who called my name.
"Crystal!" I yelled trying my hardest to run over to her
We hugged for the longest.
"I haven't seen you in years. Bitch where you been?"
"Here. I moved after my parents passed."
"And changed your number."
"Yeah. Sorry Crys."
Amir cleared his throat making me turn to him.
"This is my highschool friend too." I laughed
"You know ha?" He squinted at Crys and a awkward silence filled the room
"That was weird. But Crys we gotta catch up."
"Yeah for sure. But let's go I'm hungry."
"Us too." I rubbed my belly and made my way over to Mir with a laugh

"Did you notice how awkward it got, just as you spoke?" I asked Mir once we reached our car
"Nah la'babeh."
"Really? It's like you guys know something I don't."
"What you talm bout mamas?"
"I don't know it's like the awkward silence the main character has in a mystery movie when some shit about to get started. You know?"
"Gotta imagination on ya mamas."
I didn't respond but I knew I wasn't tripping. There was a strong wave of animosity in there. I couldn't tell who it was directed to but I know it came from Crys. I'll just have to ask her.
