"Do you like Ashton?" Luke asked Stevie as they only had 30 mins left on the bus ride and he thought that he had nothing left to lose.
"I don't really know him." Stevie answered honestly. She didn't believe in love at first sight. However she believed that Ashton was a good guy and she'd give him a shot if he asked for one.
"Is that a yes?" Luke pushed her. He needed to know. It's not like he liked Stevie, he just wanted to know if he had a chance with her: if he later on decided he'd want one.
"It's not a yes or no. I'd have to make that decision later after I've had a chance to know him." She told Luke.
"Later?" Luke quizzically asked her. What did she mean by later.
"Yeah, he asked if Riley and I would want to hang out with him and his friends. I assume he means you too, right?"
Luke was shocked that Ashton would make a move so quickly. Nevertheless he was happy he hadn't asked Stevie out alone on a one on one date. He didn't know why Ashton wouldn't have asked him first about it. What if Luke despised Stevie, that'd be awkward for them. But he didn't. He didn't at all.
Luke checked his phone and realized he did in fact have a bunch of texts from Ashton:
" Is it cool if I ask Riley and Stevie to hang out with us when we get there? "
" Luke? "
" That's OK right? "
" Whatever man, I'm just gonna ask them. "
"Sorry what?" Luke said looking up from his phone realizing Stevie had asked him a question.
"You're part of the group that Ashton will be hanging out with right?"
"Yeah. Probably, we don't have many other friends." Luke chuckled. It was the truth, ever since they'd been getting bigger and bigger it was hard to tell who was a genuine person and who only wanted the fame and glory. Luke honestly thought that Stevie had no idea who he was and wanted to keep it like that for as long as possible. "Why, do you want to hang out more with me?"
"I just want to know someone. Riley tends to run off with guys." Stevie smiled at him. Even though she did want to hang out with Luke longer she just didn't want to tell him. She thought he'd make fun of her for it.
"Well, just so you know. I'd never do that." Luke sincerely told her.
"Do what?" Stevie questioned him, confused about his statement.
"Leave you." Luke said. Stevie froze up and Luke sensed it. "I mean like ditch you for guys or anyone you know."
Stevie was still recovering from her shock. She felt something in her stomach when she heard him speak those words but didn't want to say anything back. She had a feeling of what she felt but didn't want to admit it to herself.
"Thanks."
"We're almost there." Luke noticed.
"Yeah. I'm excited." Stevie piped up completely changing.
"Have you been before?" He asked her as she was a Californian native.
"Yes. A couple of years ago. I didn't enjoy it though. I had a really narrow music taste." Stevie told him.
"What type of music do you like?" Luke wondered.
"Alternative and Classic Rock, you know the oldie stuff. None of the new stuff like that 'Punk Rock' shit that boy-bands these days play. I like real music, not all that auto tune crap."
Luke wasn't sure how to respond he didn't know if he fit under the criteria that Stevie described but she had a horrible feeling that he did. He didn't think their music was shit but others had their opinions. You didn't have to agree but you'd have to respect it.
"What do you like?" She asked him.
"I'm open to all music." Luke replied.
"That's good. I wish I was like that."
Luke let out a fake laugh. He was still worried about what Stevie would think when she found out that he was in a 'boy band'. They weren't really but from Stevie's description of a boy band they fit it perfectly.
"Are you OK?" Stevie asked Luke obviously noticing his change in mood.
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" Stevie pushed him.
"Yep."
"Luk-"
"I'm fucking perfect. OK?" Luke shouted at her.
